| General Overview | Nathan is the classic older brother. He has protective of those that serve below him. He is decisive when it needs to be but can have a tendency to hesitate to make the call that needs to be made when someone he cares about is involved. Nathan enjoys and flourishes under the regulations and regimentation of Starfleet life. The purpose and routine gives him a stability that he never had when he was growing up. Nathan has had a few romantic relationships but has yet to find a women that holds his attention. That is not to say that he is a womanizer, he simply doesn't date for sport. Once he realizes that they are not meant to be, he ends the relationship. Nathan would enjoy having a family but as the years go by he believes this may not meant to be. He enjoys his sister children and worries over her baby sister Sarah. |

History
| Personal History | Nathan was born to James and Jasmine Kline in a Federation settlement on Rubicun III. His parents were 18 and 19 respectively when he was born. Being such young parents they didn't offer the growing boy must structure and in fact they thrived. The society of the Edo lent itself to a safe but unstructured existence for the young family. Within ten years he had two other siblings whose parentage could be questioned, simply based on the society they live in. The birth of Nathan's brother, Robert, had complications resulting in the belief that Jasmine could no longer have children. Nathan excelled in school. There was something about the structure that gave him a sense of security and helped him focus on accomplishing a goal. When he was twenty he applied for Starfleet Academy. Based on his test scores and academic record he was easily accepted. Nathan was one year into his academics when he got a call from his mother. He was going to be a big brother again despite the fact that it was believe she couldn't have any more children. He didn't bother asking if she was a half or full sister, it didn't matter. Taking a break from school he traveled home and for the first time in his life contemplated giving up the Starfleet life when he held Sarah, his new sister, for the first time. It was love as first sight and he couldn't imagine loving someone as much as he loved that little girl. He loved and cared for his other siblings but from the get go this relationship was different. Two years later, a discussion with other sister Megan, he made the decision to return to the Academy and finish his training. She argued that when Sarah got older he would be in a better position to take care of her, if necessary, if he had a career. She vowed to watch her little sister as if she were Nathan. After some soul searching he agreed. When he was twenty seven he graduated from academy in the middle of his class. His performance was exemplar however, his constant absences to take care of his family did not go unnoticed. His first posting after graduation was on the USS Galileo, a luna class vessel. The assignment ended up being dream. Nathan became an expert on the sensor array with in the Luna Class. His expertise soon become known by the Starfleet Corp of Engineers and his ten year tenure on the USS Galileo ended as he was transferred to Utopia Planitia where he would remain until he transferred to the Academy to teach. His desire to teach was prompted by the fact that his baby sister Sarah being accepted into the Academy and starting classes. He was in his second year of teaching when he received his orders that he was to serve on the USS Cosmos as the Sensor Specialist. |
