During his time in Starfleet, Mitchell was involved in an altercation with a Nausicaan that ultimately resulted in a physical confrontation. Despite being warned to leave the Nausicaan alone, Mitchell continued to provoke him, leading to the Nausicaan striking him across the face with a weapon.
