ON:

So far, the day had been pretty mundane, not that Bettina minded too much, after all, if her day was exciting, someone else's wasn't, and that was never a good thing. Once she'd done what she had to, she just settled for wandering the halls as she waited for lunch time...that was when Braden was coming by, and she was looking forward to it with a mixture of anticipation and apprehension.

While she really wanted to see him again, so much so that she was sorta tingling, she was also worried about the whole chess thing. Of course, it wasn't a given that she'd never learn, she just didn't think it was going to work, and that was the problem -- to her, it was work...too much concentrating, too much thinking, and nothing at all relaxing or pleasurable about it.

So, today, she hoped to introduce him to something new, competition, yes, but not nearly so intellectual as chess. And to do that, she hoped to intercept him before he made it to med-bay, so she was padding the corridors -- with two golf clubs slung over her shoulder.

Braden was just leaving his work in the garden when he saw Bettina. "You planning on clubbing someone? I think you should re-consider a less violent approach. Really Bettina I just don't see you as aggressively violent." He stopped in front of her putting his hands on her arms just above the elbows. "You are just too warm and friendly for me to see you as overly hostile." He smiled making eye contact "so what are the clubs really for?"

"Clubbing someone?" She smiled sweetly and shook her head. "No, well, only if your deserve it!" She gave him a quick wink and a kiss on the cheek.

"So, clubs are for golf, right? Only we have decks and corridors and ports." She held a club and ball to him. "Freestyle golf...only rules are no hitting anyone and no restricted areas. So, are you up for it?"

"So what do you use for holes? I can understand the idea of decks and corridors but don't you need to hit the ball into a hole?" Braden had actually never played golf, but he was willing to try anything Bettina wanted to. So what do we do play for a kiss a deck?" He raised an eye brow as he tilted his head with a silly expression. "Or are you still into playing for cloths?"

"No holes, just goals, like getting around corners and not hitting officers!" She grinned up at him, then shrugged. "I don't know that 'Strip Golf' would go over too good...so, sure, kisses it is! That way there are no losers."

"I like your game already. I also like the idea of neither of us losing. Somehow that seems a nice concept, Us being together and no one losing." He leaned forward kissing her and savoring her lips before he straighten back up and opened his eyes. "Okay then since it is your game you lead off.. Yes?"

"Um...sure..." Boy, but he knew how to distract her! It took her a moment to recover, then she put the ball down on the deck and gave it a firm whack! It was a ways down to the end of the corridor, but the ball made it, bouncing off the far bulkhead and around the corner.

"Whoo! Got it!" She looked up at Braden. "Let's see you match that!"

Braden smircked "that is all you got?" he placed his ball and truly looked at the wall and deck. he wiggled his shoulders then his butt then he swung the club. The ball zig/zagged down the hall hitting the left wall then the right and back to the left but rolled to a stop still just in view! "Darn! I miscalculated the amount of resistance!" He closed his eyes as he fave her "claim your prize, you won this round."

Rolling her eyes, Bettina grumbled, "I don't know about 'winning', but if you insist..." She giggled as she kissed his puckered lips then poked him in the ribs in a sad attempt to tickle him. "All right, then, you go first this time."

He umphed as she poked him and his eyes opened "oh my Dear the kisses will be much better when I win!" Braden teased as he walked with her to their balls.

"Ha! You dream!" She laughed.

This time he took his time calculating and he hit the ball harder. It zig/zagged past her ball and around the corner where someone yelped! Braden called back "Sorry!" Looking at Bettina he sighed "your turn Bettina. Just be careful as I think someone is around the corner.

"Oh, no, you're not putting this on me!" She shoved her club at him to hold then took an innocent stance as they could hear footsteps approaching. "If it's an officer," she hissed quietly, "you owe me a massage!"

At that moment an irate janitor rounded the corner, glaring at the pair, then focusing on Braden. "Did you do that?" he growled. "What were you thinking?"

"I was thinking it was at the level of your feet and was unlikely to cause anyone harm. We were just killing time, I will be more careful in the future. I thought this deck was empty at this time of day so I apologize for interfering with your work." Braden smiled "tell you what, I see you in the lounge tonight or the next time I see you there I will buy you a drink. Will that make amends for disturbing you?"

The man still glared at them, then shrugged. "Yeah, sure. Whacha doin', anyway?"

"Free-style golf," Bettina explained, "just...knocking the ball around." She shrugged, looking down the long corridor, then nodded. "Conduit on the left." Taking a stance, she gave the ball a gentle whack and it rolled straight for a ways then veered to the left, bouncing into the wall just past the spot in question.

"Score!" Bettina jumped up, grinning, then held the club to the janitor. "You want to give it a go?"

The fellow looked from one to the other as if he suspected to be pranked. Then he scowled along the path Bettina's ball had gone. His face never really broke into a smile but he "hummped" and reached for her club as he dropped the ball in his hand. He steadied the ball with his foot then whacked it hard. ball hit the corner hard and bounced wildly back and forth till it came to rest at the end of the corridor they were in. "Hummp? I guess it is harder then it looked. You two be careful just the same." He turned and walked away muttering "all fun and games till someone loses an eye?"

Braden goosed Bettina in the lower ribs just as he walked out of sight. "I think you won that round as well. Going to claim your prize or should I call that fellow back for you to collect?"

"Well, he looks like he has better things to do." Bettina shrugged, then turned to look at Braden. "Do you think what he said about losing an eye is right? Maybe we should use goggles?" Of course, she was teasing him by ignoring the question of the kiss!

Faking seriousness Braden "I do believe we should. Which means we might have to cancel the game?"

"Cancel?" She frowned, watching him.

He started to turn as if walking after the ball but spin back around circling her hips in his arms and lifting her off the deck. As he picked her up his lips stole hers for a deep passionate kiss. He savored her mouth till she wiggled. "So which game do you want to continue? This one or the one in our room?"

Bettina let out a yelp as he picked her up, then giggled as he kissed her. "What game in our room?" she asked innocently, wondering when his room became 'their' room, not that she minded.

"Lemme down..." Disengaging, she dropped to the floor, but then hopped onto his back, laughing. "Giddy up!" She swung her club at the ball, then laughed again. "Polo!"

Laughing Braden carried her piggy back to their quarters.
