Ben was still getting used to his new home. It was quite a contrast from the ships and bases he was used to. Even as a child the ships he had been on, had been far more advanced. This ship reminded him more of a museum than a ship. That wasn't necessarily bad, though he did miss not having a holodeck to play around in, but it was different.

This morning he woke up with a scratchy throat and feeling a little achy. Normally, he wouldn't have thought twice about something so trivial, but he'd hear a few rumors and decided he should go have himself checked out. He wasn't too worried about the situation and took some time to shower and shave. After putting on a pair of faded jeans and a teal, long sleeved, rugby shirt and a pair of moccasins. He then headed to sickbay.

Lieddem looked up from the paperwork he should be attempting as someone came into the infirmary. He didn’t recognise the man but all the new crew that had come on board since the last stop looked the same to him so he didn’t have a clue. He slowly stood and grabbed one of the tricorders from the side running a hand through his shaggy hair as he went.

“So what can I do for you…” The Betazoid asked softly hoping the man would take the hint to give up his name.

It took a second for the security liaison to catch on to what the other man was implying, "I'm Ben Eagleheart," he said extending his hand," and it's probably nothing, but I feel like I'm coming down with a cold. And you know how life on a ship is, rumors spread, so I thought it would be prudent to come in and get checked out."

“Lieddem Kea.” The man answered back automatically as he indicated the biobed that looked like it belonged on a Starfleet vessel of the here and now instead of Mary Rose’s normal outdated and shabby decor. “I don’t know about rumours but I know idle chat always travels quicker than anything else on ships.” The Marine said from experience.

Ben coughed a couple of times, covering his mouth as he did so, "Nice to meet you," he said as he slipped onto the biobed. "I'm sure it is just idle chat, but, as long as I'm here, I might as well have you check me out."

Lieddem nodded silently and started scanning the man carefully. Most of the crew refused medicals despite Rueben wanting everyone as fit as possible, most didn't trust Doctors.

"Seems like a cold. Slight fever. Inflammation of throat. Plenty of fluids." Liddem said words that didn't necessarily connect.

Ben listened and nodded. Ben was able to put the dots together, "That's what I thought," he said, "I'll just get some rest. By the way, sickbay looks like the most up to date part of the ship. How come?"

Kea chuckled softly as he glanced around taking in the spartan biobed and new tricorders. He hadn't been involved in the heist he had left that to the Chief Medical Officer and the Bolian Thief but he was certainly grateful for the equipment it made his life easier. "You would rather not know Benjamin. Sometimes you have to do what you have to do." He said still scanning away as he spoke to the older man.

A small smile found it's way to the Native American's face. "You're right, " he said, "Somethings are better left unsaid, I'm quite content not to know the details, especially since this equipment might save my ass someday. And I have grown rather fond of it."

Lieddem nodded, it was always a safer option to not know everything. In a marine operation, it was usual for lower ranks to know everything in case of capture or corruption by another party. Another point was he didn’t know this person from Adam, didn’t trust him not to turn them in at the next station.

“Always better to stay out of trouble and only know half the story. Just in case, especially when it comes to medical equipment that could save your life. I would like to keep it..” The medic repeated before putting the tricorder away.

"I don't blame you, " Ben replied, "well since it's not anything serious, I'll just go back to my cabin. unless there is something else?"

Leiddem shook his head, it was all he could suggest for cold symptoms. All the medical advances but a simple cold he didn't have the equipment or supplies to deal with every person that came in with a cold.

"Best I can suggest colds run their courses in a few days with plenty of liquids and rest. Even a field marine medic like myself can suggest that." The Betazoid grinned.

The Native American nodded his head and turned to walk out of sickbay and stopped just he was coming to the exit. He turned back "I'm assuming that a ship like this doesn't have a holodeck, so what do people do for fun?"

He gave the other man a long expectant look.

"Well, you being sick the only thing you should be doing is going to bed." The Medic said slightly amused by the question. Everyone seemed to think he knew the answer to everything on this ship just because he had come along with Rueben.

"Well, I hope I'm not going to be sick forever. At least I hope not. I was talking about for later. You know after I'm recovered. Though I must admit some curiosity. It was my understanding that colds no longer ran their course. That there was a cure now and had been at least since the time of Picard."

"It might have been cured on earth so to speak but this ship is that old its containment by everything. Go do like old humans do have soup and stay in bed. Enjoy the rest." Leiddem said with a smirk. Human always thought themselves invincible since the common human cold was supposedly irradiated but the Rosie was that old who knew what was hiding in the air purifiers.

"I don't see that I have much choice then," Ben said, as he turned to go. "However, I don't know that I'm going to enjoy it. I don't like to just sit around." Before really waiting for a reply he made it to the exit.
