Best Thing To Come Out Of All Of This

Mission: Mission 12 - Railway
Location: Deck 6 - Corridor
Timeline: MD04 17:00
1018 words - 2 OF Standard Post Measure

Dixoho looked up the corridor and grinned at the woman she saw there coming towards her. It was the woman who she had grown accustomed to seeing in the mirror for days now. She stopped dead and grinned despite how tried and dirty she was after swapping back whilst still on the refugee ship. It was certainly an eye opener to how far she had come from living on a similar type of ship to the SS Mary Rose, despite its age and growing resistance to being reliable.

“So… you swapped back on the bridge huh? Hope you did not adjust anything you weren’t meant to.” Dixoho grinned wondering if it was appropriate to hug the woman.

"Just about fell out of a chair," Cami shrugged sheepishly. "Not my proudest moment, but thankfully most everyone else was in the same boat." She drew herself to a halt in front of Dixoho and looked her down. "Thanks...for keeping me together. Both in body and mind. I don't think I'd have handled it all that well without someone to talk to."

“Had to be better than me. I threw up.” She remembered grimly poor Cassie rubbing her back despite her own issues with the swap and how it had gone down. “We are more than friends now after sharing this weird experience. You always have a drinking partner and just someone to talk non proud moments over with.” Dixoho decided to just throw caution to the wind and threw her arms around the Bajoran tightly hugging her to her. She had been so scared that her body would fail with the stress from all the changes leaving the woman trapped and dying quicker than she already knew she was.

Cami felt awkward for a second, but then relaxed and actually returned the hug. She felt a lot differently about the other woman now - rather than just being 'Jea's bestie' she actually felt much closer to Dixoho than she had before. "Well, normally I'd be sharing them with Jea, but I guess we can be a dynamic trio now?" she suggested. "Does this make me the unofficial third Saa Sister?"

“Without a doubt though I believe it’s Kea sisters. Like Jeassaho would let us have our own names. I have seen her when she is left in charge of Engineering.” The Trill teased not quite letting the hug go yet. Hugging another person did not happen often enough for her anymore, she did not realise just how much she craved being close to someone. Without a doubt the woman was more than her sister, it was an experience very few people had shared let alone feel no distrust or malice towards. The woman should feel hatred for the Bajoran for having a healthy body or resentment that she was now in a rapidly failing body. “Thank you.” She whispered pulling out of the hug.

"Aw, well, you know..." Cami shrugged, not really sure how to react to that. It was a lot to deal with, and might take some figuring-out, but one thing she did know was that she wanted to be there for Dixoho with everything she was going through. Perhaps the Prophets had been trying to teach her some humility. Or compassion. "Wanna go grab something to eat?"

The Trill nodded and stepped back enough to give her a bit more space. She wasn’t sure she wanted food but she definitely wanted company. Food was not tasting quite right at the moment to her it had ever since the swap back up and she knew others felt the same. “Does food taste okay for you?” She wondered, pushing some red hair out of her face. “Food tastes so wrong to me at the moment and Ford said he was feeling the same.” She admitted thinking she would really like some Betazoid hot chocolate with pizza but she was just sure it would taste right.

"Not really. Took an hour two but everything feels back to normal," Cami shrugged. "Maybe you should go check in with the doctor again?"

"Maybe." Dixoho mused. "I keep heading towards sickbay since this all started and keep ending up doing something. Makes me wonder if the computer is alerting someone as I have spent to much time in sickbay." She admitted with a chuckle.

"You should..." Cami paused. Normally she might not have talked about it, but she recognised the change in their relationship now. "There was someone there. He said he knew you - when I was you, anyway. I don't remember his name, but he definitely knew your face. Maybe you should go see who it was?"

"Knew me?" Dixoho raised an eyebrow. "One of the refugees?" She wondered interested in who would know her that was Romulan. She was pretty sure she had no run into anyone before.

"No..." Cami frowned. "It was before that. Some guy. Human. Probably not bad looking, if not for the cuts and scrapes."

Dixoho frowned then a brewing feeling of the penny dropping hit her. It made sense with Gregnol being so casual about things over the last few days and keeping everyone away from medical. It made so much sense. "I think I know who you mean. I think it's Michael." She rubbed her forehead trying to work out what she was going to do there.

"Michael. It might have been - I can't remember if he said his name. But..." Cami put a hand on Dixoho's arm. "He was in a bit of a bad way. Maybe give it a day or two, so he doesn't look terrible when you see him."

"I will." Dixoho decided thinking to leave him there a few days until she had the strength to kill him herself. It would be better if he was less close to death to do it. "Come on lets see if these taste buds are any better." She decided, looping her arm through the others again tugging her toward the mess hall. She was sure there would be something yummy after the day they had all had.
