Location: Free Cloud, Stardust City
Timeline: TBD
799 words - 1.6 OF Standard Post Measure

The open air farmer's market, located on the outskirts of Stardust City, is one of the largest on the continent. Farmers from hundreds of kilometers away come and try to turn a profit on the goods that the government-operated farms don't produce. The sounds and aromas that filled the plaza in which the market was situated made one feel as if they were thousands of light years and about a thousand years in the past, in the famed Riyadh Market Square in the capitol of Saudi Arabia. The main difference here, though, was that the non-humanoids were the standard.

Cassie smiled as she finally got off the ship with someone that was not going to pity her or want to see her upbeat. She liked falling back into her Vulcan habits, it was easy and allowed her mind to expand and actually seeing things for what they were. “Well, that was not so bad. I am sure Chef will enjoy the selection and we got everything on the list. Did you manage to get your list sorted from the boatswain?” She wondered seeing the selection of cheese on a stand that was calling to her. She would love nothing more than a cheese and crackers night.

"I did," Jasper replied as he checked his PaDD that the supplies he had ordered were actually transferred to the ship, "now I guess we can look around a bit seeing that's done." He gave his friend a smile but didn't try to change her mood, "anything, in particular, you want to find Cassie?"

"Cheese." She responded with a shrug. It was all she was really looking for or maybe some Vulcan fruit. Nothing special in her opinion, something that could be found anywhere in the universe.

Off in another part of the enormous open air farmer's market, the Man sat in the shadows, watching his target silently. He had been in place hours before the market had opened, knowing that the fruit from the stand he was watching was the most delicious he had ever had. The vendor, a strange alien with a large head, sparkling eyes and two red mohawks, always seemed to get distracted when dealing with a customer. The Man was simply waiting for his opportunity to strike. He already had a particular piece of the dark-skinned fruit targeted. Now, if only she would get distracted.

"Well," the operations man said as he squinted a little against the sun, "they should have some around here, somewhere." He smiled as he spotted, "that looks like it might be cheese," he gestured over to a shop stall where it looked like round wax-coated disks. Some were white inside and others yellow which was a good sign they might be what they were looking for, "want to go check it out?"

“Anything to get out the cold.” Vulcans even half Vulcans were desert people and they liked the heat it was easier to thrive in. She was not going to admit she felt a bit funny on the planet like a feeling of deju vu.

The Man saw his opening and went for his target. Quickly moving forward, he grabbed the fruit and kept moving, the farmer no more the wiser. As he moved deeper into the market, he stopped because something felt different in the air. He felt...something familiar. Something...

Hearing a shout behind him, He turned, the trance broken, and saw that the farmer had finally realized that she had been robbed. Suddenly moving, he made his way further into the crowds, disappearing in seconds.

The Man kept moving through the mass of people in the market. As he passed a pair of people, at a cheese stand, whose backs were to him, he detected a pleasant aroma on the air. A soft, sweet perfumy aroma. Something about it felt almost familiar and he paused in his movements. He stood there, sniffing the air and started to turn.

Before He finished moving, he saw the farmer that he had stolen from rushing towards him through the crowd. She had a Law Giver in tow. They all locked eyes for a split second.

"There he is!!" The woman screeched. "Thief!! Arrest him!!"

As the Law Giver tried to speed forward through the throng of bodies, the Man quickly turned away and melted into the crowd around him. As he moved further away, he started to focus more on escaping than on the comforting aroma he had picked up.

Cassie frowned at the shouting and yelling but turned back to what she was doing. What was happening in Freecloud or people being caught by the Watchdog was none of her business. She did not want to be under their gaze with her settlement status as a citizen who should not exist.
