The clang of the engineering alarm jolted Brandon's attention away from the report he was reading to whip around to the display mimicking the main readouts in Engineering.
He bolted out of his office and around the corner to the main console, where Jeassaho sat giggling as she punched buttons with apparent abandonment. Brandon pulled her away with a rough spin to her chair, bringing another round of giggles from her. A few reconfigurations of the controls brought the safeties back online for the warp core, stopping the climb to a warp core breach.
"Jeassaho, want in the world do you think you're going?" he asked as he spun the chair around again so take she was looking at him.
Jeassaho sat there looking far from her normal self, her face was flushed but the rest of her body was bleached white, her eyes were as wide as saucers an impressive feat for a Betazoid with onyx eyes. She let out a laugh before she spoke.
"The man said you would be too slow once the music started." She said barely in Federation standard.
"The man said?" He asked quietly, taking in her condition. "Are you feeling okay?" The concern in his voice was evident.
In any case, no matter her answer, there was no way that he could let her stay in Engineering. He tapped out a message for Pearson to report in, then turned his attention back to Jeassaho. Jeassaho nodded, of course she felt fine, everything was bright and shining, so much clearer to her now. She smiled as she stood pushing herself vertical, the room span but no matter she just needed to make the music start again.
"Of course I am fine. No one needs to be concerned. Yes the man. The one who collects..." She murmured stumbling into the wall. "He came back in with yourself?" She indicated the space between the control console and access panels.
The one who collects? "You're not making much sense, Jeassaho." He gently grabbed her chin to force her to look at him. She was really pale, and her eyes were bloodshot. Not good at all.
"Are you sure you're feeling okay? Maybe I should take you down to Sickbay. Have them take a look at you."
Jeassaho stared up the Chief and grinned. "I am fine Bradon. Are you okay?" She murmured wobbling a little on the spot as he grabbed her chin throwing her centre of balance off.
"Wait. The one who collects? You mean the well to do idiot who collected all that stuff that we found behind the wall? What does he have to do with anything?" Bradon leaned toward her and put an arm around her to steady her on her feet.
"And I'm fine. Well, no, not really. I've been feeling shitty since I got out of the rack this morning. Body is aching and I get a bit of a chill now and again. Feel like I'm coming down with a cold." He looked over at her, looking directly into her eyes. "But I'm not hearing from the Man like you are." He stopped for a second, a thought coming to him. He was right, he wasn't feeling up to his normal game. Maybe... "Hey, Jeass. Let's both of us go down to Medical. Have them take a look at us. Couldn't hurt, could it?" He turned, turning her along with him, toward the door.
Jeassaho stayed quiet as Janet passed them in the open door as she was led towards Medical. By the time they reached the nearest turbo lift she was swaying madly but she knew intently that she need to stay on her feet and ignore the motion that wanted to send her to the floor. "I feel really hot." She finally uttered as her eyes focused on something only she could see.
Bradon got a firmer grasp on Jeassaho as they got in the turbolift. "It's not far now, Jeass," he said quietly as the 'lift took them swiftly up to the med deck. He wasn't feeling the best himself. Something was definitely wrong on the ship.
"You are nice... you know that. You are a nice boss, you think about stuff." Jeassaho murmured, her voice thick her head lolling a little as she tried to focus on the wall or anything really. "That man has gone now." She admitted finally as the door opened revealing Rueben stood there.
"Captain," Bradon said as he supported Jeassaho's full weight. "Would you mind giving me a hand? I need to get Jeass to the Doc."
"Of course not. What is going on?" Rueben moved into the lift and easily scooped up the familiar weight into his arms. He smiled a little as she curled up and wrapped her arms around his neck, resting her head on his shoulder. "Are you okay?" He wondered seeing the Chief Engineer pale himself..
"Not so much, boss," Bradon replied. "Feeling weak and dizzy, though I can still function. That's more than I can say for her." He nodded toward Jeassaho, now snuggled against the captain.
Rueben moved out of the lift listening to the tiny voice coming back his former fiancee as she spoke in Betazoid. "Da..." Was all in said in response to the words that were uttered. It was hurtful what she said but he couldn't deny any word of it. He looked at the man. "Jeassaho is Jeassaho." The Russian said with a shrug as he watched the man join him in the corridor. "I would like you to come to sickbay as well. No harm in getting you checked over." His tone left no room for argument really, he didn't need his Chief Engineer passing out somewhere.
Brandon sighed, mostly to himself. "As you say, Captain," and followed him into Sickbay.
