As Halla stood at the threshold of her boyfriend's room, her heart raced with a mix of excitement and nerves. She had been putting off the moving but the quartermaster had confirmed her request, so the time had finally come for her to move in. The space was a reflection of Levi's personality – a blend of starkness and efficiency. Her belongings were scattered in several boxes, eagerly waiting to find their place in this new space.
She took a deep breath and stepped into the room allowing the door to close behind her. She began by carefully placing her favourite plant on the windowsill hoping it would continue to flourish there or she was going to have to take it back to the lab. She had promised to spend more time in her quarters so bringing items from where she normally spent more time was the first step. “I haven’t changed much.” She called over her shoulder as the door opened.
Levi gave it a once-over, almost doing a mental room-clearance exercise with his eyes, prowling a few steps around before coming back to stand in front of her.
"I approve so far. Just don't go insisting on changing the colour scheme," he said, a hint of humour in his tone.
Halla just gave him a look and rolled her eyes at him with the same fondness as she moved one of the boxes in to the bedroom. A sense of warmth enveloped her as she unpacked her clothes into the shared wardrobe. She knew that a lot of time time both of them replicated uniforms and stuff but there were some items of clothing that neither did that were favourites. She had visited his quarters countless times before, but today was different; she was officially moving in.
He watched, silently at first, as she went about reorganising. As a Marine he had a few things laid out in a certain way that it would bother him to adjust, but for the most part she hadn't touched those places yet. "Has anyone said anything to you about moving into the Officers' quarters yet?" he asked, making conversation rather than being genuinely concerned about it.
The Trill looked up from making sure her dress hung slightly better than it had been and shook her head as him stood in the doorway. “No one has said anything.” She was not at all interesting to most people in sickbay they had other things to gossip about like the Chief Engineering getting caught kissing Fenruse under the mistletoe at Christmas or trying to find out if the Captain was single but mostly it was gossiping around Mitchell being missing.
"Good," he nodded. He suspected some of the enlisted Marines might have had their little gossip, not nothing had filtered back to him.
“What about you? Anyone commented on you lowering your standards to an enlisted science crewman?” She teased back moving to sit gingerly on his.. their bed.
"No, but that doesn't surprise me," he said, a faint knowing smirk forming. "I've built enough of a reputation by now that people tend not to make comments like that when I'm in the room."
Halla laughed softly as she saw the familiar smirk appearing on his face. She did not doubt that for a moment and neither would the people under him. She would not dare cross him in a professional capacity. "Certainly I would not dare say something if I was one of your Marines." She teased.
"And they say a culture of fear is unhealthy," he said, amused. "Is there anything else you needed carrying over? Or do you have everything?"
Halla liked when he looked amused it gave him a look that only she got to see. “Works in some circumstances.” She approved. “I have everything.” Halla did not have tons of stuff having lost it all on Cassiopeia. “No I believe I have everything. Do you think I am missing something?” She wondered.
"I think..." he said, putting his hands on her shoulders, "That you have everything you need right here."
“For someone who could not imagine a year ago how different his life could be you sound very sure.” She teased just a little enjoying that he did sound so sure. It felt almost like it was not just her pushing things.
"I've had some help along the way," he admitted. "But my eyes are still down-range; things might have changed, but we're still the same, aren't we?"
Halla shook her head quickly to reassure him. “We are still very much the same. If we were trapped with zombies all over again would I stab you to save you… yes I would.” She grinned up at him.
"I hope you would stab the zombies first..." he grunted, affectionately pushing the hair out of her face for a moment. "But we can work on that; you know that I do thirty minutes PT at the start of every day. You'll have to join me for that now, you know."
The woman narrowed her eyes and shook her head. He knew exactly what she meant but she was not going to delve into that discussion. She tried not to think about the sea base if she was honest. There was something creepy about the base and the fact zombies had been created under the ocean. “That sounds like my version of hell.” She teased.
"Still not too late to change your mind..." He quipped with a little upward twitch of his eyebrow.
The woman looked up at him and grinned shaking her head. “Oh… maybe.” She teased him stepping back to take in his quip and twitch of his eyebrow before snuggling close to him. She just wanted a moment to take it all in.
"I didn't think you would," he affirmed, patting her gently on the shoulder as she leaned in close. "You like to pretend you don't know, but you do deep down."
"Lot of effort to move again and then the whole discussion with the Quartermaster just easier," Halla commented against his chest trying to not laugh at the turn of events and how far they had come in the last nine months. It was impossible and humbling to say the least. She was glad she made the choice and did not fall back in with Maxun. She would not have this moment just enjoying the change.
He shrugged. Probably not as easy as she would like to believe. "How about dinner?" he proposed.
“Here or elsewhere?” She wondered back stepping back to give him some space. She was hungry so it was perfect timing but it all depended on whether she needed to change clothes or not now.
He gestured to the space behind him. "First night in together? My replicator is your replicator now."
“Well let’s see what our replicator has for us then.” Halla grinned and moved away to start considering it all. She could very much get used to living with him when he let her pick and chose things like that. It was just a shame that the timing sucked with Mitchell still being lost.
