“Do you really think this is such a good idea? I know the sensors said nothing was here but it doesn’t feel right. I feel like something is watching us,” Leiddem mumbled for the fourth time as he led the way down the corridor. His rifle was raised expecting trouble. He was half paying attention to the IHADSS unit that covered his face and half listening to the groans from the neglected Space Station. He had once been too Deep Space Nine and this was looking at a dark and twisted version of it, one that belonged in a nightmare not surrounding him then and there.

"Do you know what's watching us?" Olsam asked. "All the dead people that are going to be dead if we don't get some better equipment. Do you know I found a needle in Sickbay the other day? A needle! Like, an injection needle. Have you ever heard of such nonsense? Breaking the skin to provide an injection! That's how people get diseases, you know. I couldn't believe it wasn't rusted."

Leiddem turned and looked at Olsam and shook his head, the light bouncing across the corridor. "A needle huh? I am sure it worked back then after all it was all they had." The Betazoid turned back and moved under a partially fallen beam.

"It's better than nothing," Caden agreed in a murmur, "But the advent of the hypospray in most Federation worlds came prior to this space station's existence. I knew Cardassian technology had a delayed development, but a hypospray? Maybe we're just used to them."

"I'm used to a lot of things," Olsam groused. "Replicators, proper medical equipment, proper medical supplies, proper medicinal substances and treatments, proper power flow, proper food..."

“Now… the food isn’t so bad. Marines used to be worse.” Leiddem said brightly thinking of the places he had been and the awful food that he had, had over the years. It wasn’t so bad on Rosie in that respect, the cook tried and the herbs and stuff from the cargo bay were making it palatable. "Humili's herbs is certainly making it better than it had been when I first got to the ship." He turned as he heard only one footstep behind him and shined his light just seeing the human behind him. "Where has he gone off to?"

Caden gave a shrug, eyes unmoving from his tricorder. "I'm not sure. I thought he was in charge, so I didn't think to look after him. Maybe he'll scream and help you find him."

Without much regard for things like booby traps or vengeful Cardassian ghosts, Olsam blithely walked right up to the doors leading into Sickbay and patiently stood there waiting for them to open. He stood there nearly a full minute, which was also time for the other two to catch up to him, and seemed like he was prepared to wait longer. Sometimes the processing power in these old stations left something to be desired, so the computer was probably just having trouble handling the commands for 'open Sickbay door.'

Chuckling, Olsam turned to look over his shoulder, "Slow door, heh."

"Don't go running off!" The former Marine muttered shoving the door open a little quicker. He quickly darted through the open door before the Doctor could put himself in any more danger.

And taking up the rear was Caden, who blinked at the scene as he stepped up next to Olsam. "See anything in there, Kea? Any evil wargs or man-eating tribbles?"

Kea was tempted to stay quiet and let the pair stew but the lights came on bringing some light on in the sickbay. He turned and looked at the pair disappointed for a moment before he indicated that it was safe for them to come in. "Nothing untoward in here by the looks of things." He had sensed around the room but they didn't need to know that.

"Well..." Looking between Doctor Mott and where he saw Kea disappear off to, Caden gestured through the door. "Head Doctors first, yes?"

That was probably the absolute worst thing someone could have said to Olsam, as his head seemed to swell measurably from the deference to his authority. He'd come to think of himself as just the ship's doctor but being the head doctor certainly framed him in a more positive and integral light. He'd have to talk to Gregnol about a raise. A significant raise, commensurate with the importance of being a head doctor.

"You're a terrible judge of character, Mr. Kea. Everything in here is untoward," Olsam said, leaning toward a dusty, dimly-lit console. "And dusty. And written in Cardassian. I don't read Cardassian." He pulled away from the console and turned to his companions. "Do you read Cardassian? I don't. How am I supposed to know where anything is if everything is in Cardassian?"

"I don't read it I am afraid isn't part of Marine training!" Kea remarked with a small smirk as he picked up the nearest bottle and shook it, the contents moved around sounding congealed. "Caden, did you bring anything to help? I was just told to bring a gun as security."

Caden tapped the phaser pistol he had brought with him and waggled the tricorder in the air to answer Kea's question. "I can read basic Cardassian, but half of this isn't part of the basic level classes from uni. I don't think they expected 'out of towners' at their own station."

Leiddem opened his mouth to say something else about out of towners when he realized the doctor had disappeared from his sight. "Where by the Deities is that man!" He muttered raising his gun to start looking for the Ships Doctor.
