ON:
It had been a little under a week since their first encounter in the Tame Raccoon. This time they found themselves in Erim's temporary quarters on the station. A spartan little room with all gray amenities. Not exactly the most homely of locations, but certainly a lot better than jail.
The Bolian stretched his fingers above his head before bringing them down to the keypad of the computer console, a screen saying "Gibson Systems" flashed before the thing flickered to life. He had already brought up the Starfleet interface and from here it was just a matter of knowing what he was looking for. That is, of course, where Reuben would come in. It was his girlfriend, or whatever she was to the man, after all. He really didn't know what her affiliation to the good captain actually was, nor did he exactly care.
"Ok, I'm in." Erim said smugly, he was indeed proud of himself, "I need some basic information on this person. Name, date of birth, whatever you have, really."
"Jeassaho Jeastraxe Kea... Earth date 22 March 2365... Betazed... Starfleet Number RS-345-9530." Rueben strung off the information easily.
Erim had had a stroke of good luck in one of the local haunts. A new communications officer on the station, cute and piss drunk, had inadvertantly shared a security exploit during a heated and flirtatious conversation. He was a fellow Bolian and seemed to be on the prowl. It seemed that Erim had found more than one exploit that night.
"I have a real-time RSA12k botnet and have a middleman exploit into Starfleet's systems. It should be no problem getting in there at all."
After a few minutes Erim had a personnel file pulled up for an attractive Betazoid woman (what was his luck with Betazoids lately?) with chestnut brown hair and deep, piercing eyes.
"Here she is, and everything you want to know."
"Beautiful isn't she?" Rueben stared at the photo it was a photo of before he knew her. Jeassaho looked younger than he had ever known her especially seeing the uniform she wore was that of a cadet.
"So who is she?" after this much effort, Erim was honestly curious, though he only half expected Reuben to give him an honest answer. Rueben looked at him and shrugged.
"My girl," he said in all honesty it was what he believed. The universe would not have put him through all of this for him not to get Jeassaho in the end especially with her brother onboard as his security.
Rueben pulled out a PaDD, it looked brand new. "Can you download it onto here?" He wondered wanting to go over it in detail, he wanted to see if Chatty's words were the truth.
"Not a problem." the thief said without hesitation, plugging a small isolinier chip into the computer and then into the PADD. Extracting information from Starfleet had become something of a specialty of his over the years. He was able to enter and leave without a trace. He really liked his new captain so it was really no problem at all.
"She's all yours. Is there anything else I can do for you while I'm in here? Snoop on some admirals maybe?" Rueben was lost staring at the photo of Jeassaho that he nearly missed the question.
"Actually da... Th'zilrac... Ambassador Th'zilrac. Just download it onto here as well." He was going to help Chatty if he was helping himself to information.
"Ok..." Erim agreed, making a few choice keystrokes. A few minutes passed, but he thought he finally had narrowed down the right person. There was more than one entry under the name Th'zilrac. "Is this him?"
"Oh da that's him," Rueben confirmed looking at the photo. "Scum of the earth that one."
"What did he do?"
"You don't want to know kid." The Russain assured quickly, it wasn't his story to tell.
"What other information can you get into there?" He wondered if he could actually see Jeassaho in real time just for a moment.
"Right now I can only get into Starfleet personnel files." the thief said, almost sadly. "If you want anything deeper than that, I would need more time." Rueben shook his head, he didn't want to risk them getting caught. They might need to use this access another time.
"No... No... it's okay. I can live with this." He assured wishing he could have had more than just a glance at Jeassaho.
Without a word, Erim backed out and ended the session. He had probably already drawn more attention than he needed to, but was confident that his safeguards would hold up. The captain's lady friend was stunning and he could see why he would take a risk like that just to see her. He just wondered why he had to hire a lowlife like himself to snoop on her instead of seeing her face to face. Not that it was really any of his concern. He was just there to do his job, and in his opinion he had done it quite well.
"Is that all for now, my good sir?"
"Sure... so you are in huh?" Rueben said holding the PaDD close to his heart like a drowning man help a life preserver. "You've seen the ship, been there for some of the craziness already..." He wondered.
"I'm having a lot of fun. Hopefully she can get me to where I need to go." the Bolian said with an earnest smile. And it was true, the ship was delving into a corner of the galaxy he desperately needed to reach.
"It will get us all there." He assured quickly indicting they should leave before security came looking.
