Mission: Mission 1 - Bridges
Location: SB 7 The Watering Hole
Timeline: MD 27 17:30
2525 words - 5.1 OF Standard Post Measure

The girl in black leather looked young and inexperienced. That was usually the mistake a lot of men made dealing with her. She had a lot of experience in many things. Fighting. Killing. Pleasure. But never love Huh. Most thought of her as human as well. Another mistake. Her Argelian heritage allowed her to feel what others felt. She knew their pleasure when she made love with them; knew their fear when she turned the tables on them; their pain when she dispatched them.

She wondered if the man she was seeking would do the same. They had met before, in her home in San Francisco. She was a young student then, the adoptive daughter of Admiral Robertsson and his wife. He was fleeing StarFleet and some Intel had something to do with it. It's how she knew where to find him. Was he defecting to the cartels or was he an implant, much as she often was.

For some reason, the Admiral wanted her to keep a close eye on his former fiancé. Jeassaho Kea had by that time become her close friend and eventually her lover. Keera couldn't comply with the logic or ethics on spying on her friend and lover. She explained the situation to Jeass, left the Mercury in a Delta Flyer under the ruse of a secret mission from the Admiral. She had falsified paperwork to support her cause. Once in open space, she sent her resignation to the Admiral, traded the Delta Flyer for an unmarked one similar to it, then set out for Star Base 7.

Here she was, on Star Base 7, in the Watering Hole. She had gotten information that the man from the Mary Rose often frequented the place. She sat in a dark corner, enjoying a meal and a drink, watching the door for him to arrive.

Rueben sighed as he walked in, in search of his favourite drink. As long as he drunk there at that bar, the Doctor didn’t need to know in the slightest. He sat down and the man automatically put down his usual drink, after a month it was common knowledge that he enjoyed Betazed Nectar.

“Thanks Jim.” He said his Russain accent noticeable against the usual voices.

She heard the voice before she saw him. It was his accent; it was very noticeable. It stood out as a nebula before the blackness of space. Taking one last bite, she picked up her now empty glass and sauntered up to the bar, sitting in the seat next to him. She ordered another Argelian Ale.

"Good evening, Alex," she said with a smirk, looking into her ale. "Or should I call you Reuben, now?"

“I know you.” He said as the woman came out set next to him. He jerked to attention a little more as he realised where he had seen the woman. It had been three years just after his ‘death’ when he had begged Starfleet Security to stop the Intelligence side. This woman was the adoptive daughter of Admiral Robertsson.

"Yes," Keera admitted, "and no. Oh, don't get me wrong. You have met me. But, do you really know me?"

Yes it was her... the Admiral had introduce him by his middle name He thought mildly annoyed that even now they weren’t leaving him alone. He had lost everything despite doing everything they wanted, he had always stood for the values of Starfleet and each day he was becoming numb to the ideals.

“I know you are either intelligence or Security and neither of them I like at the moment so good day.” He muttered throwing back the liquid in his glass. He shook his head at her and stood up. Keera quickly turned in her rotating seat, sticking her leg out, blocking his way. He was being difficult. At least he remembered her, which was a plus. The negative was the he remembered her. She had wished it was for her lovely good looks. He only remembered her as the Admiral's daughter.

"Like I said," Keera replied, "You don't really know me. I'm not one to be tamed. Jeass knows me more than that."

Rueben stopped looking down at the legs. He could easily push her away and he would have if she hadn't said the next word Jeass. Rueben froze for a second and turned to look at her.

"You sure as hell better know what you are doing saying that word." If this woman knew Jeassaho, did that mean she now knew about him being alive.

Good! She had his attention. Usually, she got men's attention as soon as they saw her. She was surprised it didn't work with Reuben. He was the robust male sort of guy. Strong, muscular, all male. The thought pleased Keera. But this was the second time he didn't seem interested. Her back-up was always information. Not a lot, just what was needed. She was disappointed she had to resort to it today.

She turned in the seat, facing the bar. Motioning with her head to where seconds before he had sat, "Have a seat." She waited for him to take his seat, which she knew he would. She had his attention. Once he was there, she would continue.

"Talk... And talk quickly Robertson. You are here because?" He demanded.

"By now, the Admiral has my resignation," she explained. "Ethical differences. I'm now seeking to become a member of your crew." Now that suprised him to say the least..

"And why would I do that?" He wanted to ask questions desperately but he held back just enough. He could see she was trying to seduce him, she had tried the coy smiles before but it wouldn't work. What warm blooded man wouldn't want her? Of course, Reuben might be cold blooded, leaving Jeass to die with their child. She tried another tactic - touch. She placed a hand on his thigh under the bar.

"I'm very good at what I do," she explained, taking a drink of ale with her other hand. "If you need information, I can get it for you. If you want pleasure, I've been trained with the best." She smirked as she said, "Just ask Jeass." Now a little twist of the dagger, "Oh, that's right. You can't! Because you left her to die with your unborn child in her womb!" The man gripped her wrist intent on just moving her hand but she threw his fiancée and then his child in his face.

"Don't you dare... I didn't know that until a week ago. I have enough intelligence bastards using JJ against me, I know need you." He hissed squeezing her wrist painfully until her cracked and pushed her away.

Now that was news to her. Wasn't he there? What happened to him that he wasn't fully aware of what he had done? Certainly, she felt the pain he felt. It wasn't physical, like her wrist, it came from deep within him. She didn't understand how a man could leave his love to die, then deeply miss her. There was more to the story than she knew. This was typical for Intel; only need to know information was passed to the next level.

"Okay," she said, a little louder than was needed because of the pain in her wrist. Why didn't she break the hold? She was trained to do so. Maybe she just enjoyed having a manly man take charge over her.

"Look, I said those things with an intent," she admitted. "I had to feel what you felt for her. Obviously, there's more to the story than what I've been told. If it's any consolation, I miss her too." Rueben shoved her away and stood up. He looked angry, Rueben never grew angry so suddenly. It was like she had a quick start button on his emotions and that was Jeassaho. He barked out laughter at the fact she missed his girl.

"Robertson you will never miss her like I have for these last years. I wanted to find her but intelligence kept threatening her, I bet you were put on her ship to kill her if I refused this position. I've spent the last three year being used... All I want it JJ." He told her.

"Kill her?" Keera inquired, again a little loud for her taste. This time it came from her surprise at his insinuation. "Look, I confess that the admiral placed me on the ship to keep an eye on Jeass. I didn't find that out until after she became my friend and lover. And yes, I damn well miss her! But as soon as I get settled, I'm to let her know."

Rueben shook his head and turned away. "So she knows I'm alive?" He said his emotions going haywire like it had when he had seen her on Vulcan.

These were the feelings that Keera wished she couldn't feel. She felt the sorrow, the darkness of being alone against the odds. She felt the anguish of knowing he could have left Jeass to die, having no control over the situation. She felt his anger at being a puppet of Intel, not able to protect the one he loved.

"I feel you," Keera confessed, "and I understand. I'm with you. It's why I resigned. I'm tired of being a puppet with the Admiral controlling the strings." Just as with Kark, now she couldn't refer to Robertsson as her father. Robertsson used her just as Kark had. "If you take me in, I'll help you bring them down."

"You didn't tell me if she knows I am alive." He frowned as he ran his hand through his hair in a frustrated gesture. He just wanted his old life, what he would give to be XO on the Victory again. By the deities, he would just go back to being a Brig officer if it meant he could stop running.

How could she put it to soften the blow? I'm not the only lover Jeass has known? She's really moved on? She decided against that path. The man was hurting enough. But he did have a right to know how Jeass felt.

"Yes," she truthfully answered. "A certain Marine that saw you on Vulcan identified you and let her know. Right now, she feels abandoned. She's angry at the implications. Even if she were here now, she'd probably still be pissed, knowing you could have easily contacted her on Vulcan. Knowing you were that close to her without reaching out to her."

"Too keep her alive." The Russian looked defeated for a moment before he stirred himself and his resolve. He would get Jeassaho to forgive his trespasses not matter what.

Keera was beginning to put things together. It was becoming clear; it all made sense. Damn Intel! Reuben had been extracted for some purpose to serve Intel. He was here against his will. If he would have attempted to contact Jeass, he thought they would have killed her. What Reuben didn't know was that they had lost him at the time. He would have been free, but for how long? Who knew? Reuben most likely did the right thing. Keera reached out, placing a hand on Reuben's forearm. This time, not to make advances, but to show empathy.

He knew which Marine , it had been a risk to help Klein out but he had blew it. "Why did that Marine care?" He demanded wanting nothing more than his bed.

Shit! She had fed him too much information. She should have kept Aderyn out of the picture. This complicated things. She took a deep breath, knowing the repercussions of what she was about to say.

"It's been three years, Reuben," she declared. "You couldn't expect her not to move on at some point. It took her three years, but she did."

Rueben nodded, he wasn't stupid he knew that Jeassaho thought him dead, she had the right to find someone else, he did not. He shrugged away from her touch.

"I did mention she'll be joining me here once I get settled. Well, not here, but wherever we are at the time." Keera hoped that would help him with his feelings. "I can't guarantee how she'll react. As of right now, she doesn't know which direction I've taken. She won't be bringing the Marine." The man nodded, he looked defeated.

"She's my Imazdi Robersson... " he said simply.

Keera didn't know humans had Imzadi's. It was the first she had heard one call someone that. There were rumours through history that Will Riker had referred to Deanna Troi in private as Imzadi. It was different to say the least. She knew Jeass once thought of Reuben as that, but wasn't sure how she felt now. Jeass did have trouble letting go of the past she had lived.

"I know," Keera softly spoke, feeling his emotions, knowing he spoke the truth. "If you bring me on, I'll help you get the bastards. By the way, I don't have a last name. I didn't take it to stay true to my Argelian heritage. I also have an unmarked Delta Flyer to add to anything you have. Do you think we will be useful to you?"

"No you don't know." He muttered, she thought she knew but she didn't know what was going on, why he loved Jeassaho. "You don't know what I love about her but you are coming along if it means I get the slightest chance to see her." he ignored the surname comment, he would stop calling her it when she earned it.

She suppressed the urge to say that she knew Jeass was a great lover. Because of her empathic abilities she was the best Keera had known. Most of her lover's only sought to get what they could from Keera, which enabled her to have pleasure as well. But Keera sought to please her as much as Keera gave out.

"I consider it an honour," she sincerely said as she stuck a hand out to him. "I'll have the flyer aboard within the hour."

Rueben ignored the hand. "Do what you want." He said firmly.

Keera was peeved at Reuben's attitude. But if she were in his shoes, what would she do? He had already confirmed that she was recently attached to Intel. Unknown to her, she was placed to watch Kea. When she was forced to do so, that's when Keera's resolve to change things began. If things were reversed and he was coming aboard her ship, she'd make him earn her trust.

Dropping her hand, but not her attitude, she answered, "That's what I intend to do; I'm now free to do what I want." With a smirk, Keera left his side and walked to retrieve her Delta Flyer. Inwardly, she was thinking of how to make Intel pay for what they did to Jeass and Gregnol. For what they did to her.
