Mission: Mission 1 - Bridges
Location: Starbase's Bar
Timeline: MD 06
1028 words - 2.1 OF Standard Post Measure

It was on that morning Alika took a walk to the bar 'for a drink' and to scope the executive officer of this 'illustrious' vessel out. As a potential future employer, she had to determine whether he was worth his salt, otherwise the attempt to manipulate her way onto the ship would have been for not.

The trip through the station's halls proved amusing, catching the attention of those more observant. While she was not the only youthful humanoid on the base, she stuck out if only because she didn't wear the traditional Starfleet insignia all over her body. She was lucky there were no recognizable Ferengi on board, at least. That would have resulted in potential disaster.

Upon entering the dimly-lit establishment, Alika sidled to the counter, proceeding to order a stout that would have likely grown hair on her chest. Turning as she waited, she scanned the the rest of the bar for signs of this 'Rueben Gregnol' she had heard about through the grapevine. Surely, he would show himself soon.

As if the universe heard the request a man dressed entirely in black with a leather jacket flew past her with a thinner lankier man trying to throttle him.

"You destroyed her," The man was shaking but the accent was thick.

Alika watched the pair, examining when a good moment to speak up would be. She didn't want to assume, but it would just be her luck to have one of them be exactly who she was looking for. If neither of them were, then it would be a fight she did not want to be caught in the middle of.

"I didn't Kea... It wasn't my fault...Intel!" Rueben yelled as he broke free of the throttle and threw him off.

"You did Rueben. You left Jea to die!" Lieddem yelled back about to go in for another punch when he noticed the woman stood there watching.

Head perking at the sound of the man's name, Alika adopted a mock-shocked expression. "Oh, am I interrupting something? I was here looking for one of the guys in charge of the beautiful Connie out there..."

"That'll be that big ooaf!" The lanky man said standing up hauling his companion to his feet wishing he could throw him back to the ground again and punch him. Rueben has hurt Leiddem's sister so much that she was running off to a shiip that was heading away from family and friends.

"I'm Rueben." The Russian introduced glaring at the Betazoid.

"I think I'm interrupting something." came Alika's reply. If there was one thing Luka's overly-polite mannerisms had taught her, it was that she should at least wait until everyone was finished kicking and screaming before she butt her head in. "I can wait till this is over. I'm only here for a job interview."

"It's done!" Kea pushed the man away and strode off quickly without looking back at the pair.

"Job interview?" Rueben finally wondered looking her over carefully. What was it with woman who wanted to join this ship?

"Oh." She watched Kea storm off, and though she was curious, she resisted the urge to ask. "... Yep! I heard you were looking for a pilot. Or someone skilled with communications, and not the Starfleet sort if rumor serves me properly. As I am a non-Starfleet pilot who has also picked up more languages than a first-assignment comms officer, I would like to offer my services." She stuck her hand out for a shake. "Name's Alika."

"Rueben." The big man took her hand and shook in gentle being careful not to squeeze to hard or shake to firmly. He had to remember how to be gentle again. "That was Liedeem my kind of brother in law." He said with a shrug as the bartender glared at him. "I know Fox... fig the mess." The man moved to haul the table that him and Kea had knocked over back into place and indicated the first chair he put back on four legs.

"Kind of brother-in-law?" Alika was wholly surprised by the 'big head honcho'-type having to brawl it out over... well, over what she couldn't tell. She was not expecting him to say why that was, either, despite her curiosity.

"Kind of haven't married his sister yet," He said off handedly.

Shrugging, she jumped off the bar stool to help him pick up the remains of the brawl that had transpired, mostly to return chairs back to their positions. She wanted to at least attempt to put her best-foot forward. Maybe. "So about that job you need people for... are you still lookin'? Is there an extensive background check process you wanna take, 'cauuuuse most of my record is probably in Ferengi. If it's a record. Do Ferengi keep records that aren't about money?"

"Can you fly?" Rueben asked simply putting the last chair back on its feet and sat on it. He folded his arms across his broad chest looking the tiny pilot who had requested a job.

"Can I fly." Alika scoffed, placing a hand on her hip as she sarcastically mimicked the other's words. "I can fly a Majestic-class starship through the Gamma Quadrant wormhole and shuttles in and out of quantum nebulas. And I've got the basic boot camp training. Connies are the first type of starship they train people on in the simulators, after all the workpods and delta flyers."

"You can't quite get the accent." Rueben grinned at the slip of a girl. "Should be a breeze then?"

"Should be? It will be!" So long as the ship didn't fall apart while she was trying to drive the damn thing. But that was something for an engineer to trouble themselves with, not Alika. "I'll just have to get your accent down - so long as I got the job."

"You have the job Fedder." He said calmly rising from the chair with a wince. He was pretty sure that Leiddam had gotten a pretty few licks in before the man has realised what had happened.
