Since she was a child, Meghan had a recurring dream every night. There was a man with spotted skin, dark hair, and hazel eyes. He had freckles and a beautiful smile. The man would always ask her to marry him, but before Meghan could form a response, she would wake up. The woman knew that man was her soul mate. She ached for him. So, every day, she would offer a prayer to whatever was above her, asking to meet him and how she thought that night that thousands of years long request were answered as she watched the man sound asleep in bed. She had sent whispers out into the universe so long ago that she could barely remember the moment when they had come through to this universe to escape and hide.

She turned back to the candles that she had lit in front of her and continued to chant wanting to know, wanting to find out if they were meant to be, a circle of electric blue light began to form around her. Rising slowly to waist height, it paused momentarily as the man stirred.

"Hmm?" Jaxith mumbled. Between waking and sleeping. He felt as if a veil was lifting, someone lifting the sheets off of him to reveal the colder air that surrounded. "Whazagon?" He managed to huff out before alarm set in. He needed to be awake now but something felt like it was stopping him. He tried to breath, he tried to move, he had no control over anything!

The circle, now a glowing rectangle, confined by the bedroom, shot away from her towards the man and consumed in a flash of light the candles as the magick expanded. Meghan collapsed to the ground once more, breaking her connection to it as she was distracted. The light dissolved into nothingness as the man woke properly. “Nothing. Nothing is going on.” Meghan frowned rolling onto her side.

But there was something definitely going on. He sat up and blinked and then frowned at her. "I just saw a blue light come shooting towards me. from you. Seriously, what were you up to? I'm not going to turn into a usem now am I? Cute animal, big cheeks, native to Trill. No reptiles, my skin couldn't take it." He was trying to be funny even if he might be mildly afraid but he was banking on his trust of her that she would come clean with him.

Meghan was exhausted as she lay there trying to process was exactly he was saying. "No..." She whispered forcing herself to lie on her back and stare at the mottled ceiling. "I was trying to process something. I wanted to know something." She admitted softly. "It would not have harmed you." She assured quickly. Nothing she had ever done had harmed another being mortal or immortal. She had her own code of how things were meant to happen but how could she admit that he might only like her due a spell for lack of a better term that she had sent out into the universe so long ago.

"I was mostly teasing you." Jax said moving toward her. "Are you all right? How did you . . . where did you learn to do that or have you always had the ability?" He bent down, put his arms under her body and lifted her up to him. He didn't like the idea of her being on the floor.

Meghan sighed as he picked her. It had costed her so much energy to do the spell that everything she had was now feeling empty and drained. She did not even want to think about what he was going to think I was. He had thought her El-Aurian or something as long lived, he had no idea of her real nature. Megans did not exist in this universe any more. She had seen none in 200 years and any reference to them had disappeared in time. “I have always had it. It is part of me.” She admitted weakly looking away.

He set her down on the bed then curled his arms around her. "Hmm, something I didn't know about you. I guess it was bound to happen. So, seriously. What were you trying to do? How can I help?" She seemed really tired and perhaps all she needed was sleep, but he wanted to make sure.

Meghan knew she had to admit what she had been doing. “A very long time ago I did a spell when we first came to this…” she paused. He did not need to know right then and there that she was from another universe where the law of magick reigned just yet. Humans could not handle that type of thing well majority of the time. “You cannot help at all Jax. You were my bodyguard to make sure no one got my ability.” She shrugged. It was easier if they did not know her abilities, less chance of her being betrayed or used

"No, I meant, how can I help you now? Do you need to sleep? Food? The bodyguard instinct is still kicking in here. You don't look well at all. Sleep here curled up with me. I'll stay awake if you want." He seemed to grip her tighter protectively.

Meghan was not sure what she overly needed. She had not exposed herself to this much weakness in a generation or so, it was a vulnerable place to be with someone let along it being with Jax of all people. The man had professed his undying love for her barely hours before and she had shifted their relationship easily. What did she want other than his warm skin against her own? She could not think on anything other than that and having him close to her. “I am fine. I need to sleep.” She assured enjoying his arms around her tightening. It made her feel safe.

"Okay, well rest then," He pulled her even closer to him and settled down behind her for some more sleep. As he'd been woken abruptly he felt he could return to sleep. "You're a bit different," he chuckled. "I bet you have stories to tell," his voice was soft and could easily fall into sleep.

Meghan was pretty sure if she was pulled any closer she would be inside of him instead of just surrounded by him. It was a comfortable place to be, warm and safe somewhere she wanted to go back to often. It was like home before they had gone off to explore and found a planet just starting out. She had seen them grow and thrive, to turn back to pretty much where they had started to be out among the stars and even find their dimension. “Jax… I am thousands of years old.” She finally admitted waiting for a reaction from him. “I’ve seen earth fall and rise more times than you could ever imagine.”

" You don't look a day over 990,"he joked, knowing she was probably serious. "So? Why are you telling me? Did you think I would care?"

This was nicer than anything Meghan had known, relaxing into the solidness that was his chest as turned to look him in the eyes and into the soft bed. It was a decent quality bed but could not imagine that it had been used much before them so it was nice. It had been a long time since she had been that comfortable. She doubted she could ever grow tired of just watching him even in semi-darkness she could make out his spots. “Maybe. I am telling you because you admitted you loved me and no longer wanted to be my bodyguard so you really needed to know why I required you to be my bodyguard.” It was that simple.

"I'm still confused though. You can do this incredible thing, but you're not allowed to use it to protect yourself? And who would want to harm you? I'm not saying I won't protect you, I'm just saying I can't make it my job, because then I'd have to separate the two."

"Because it takes time and leaves me weakened. I am vulnerable." She told him tracing his spots on his shoulder looking for a small distraction from what this could be. It could be a start or end. They had declared how they felt but it might not be enough, it might be too much for him to understand and deal with. She would not blame him at all, he had seen a world that barely anyone knew existed. “So what do you want to?” She wondered gently trying to see things from his point of view and walking in his shoes for a moment.

"First, I want to know a few things. What do you do with these powers?"he was honestly way more curious than frightened. He had been with her a while and knew she was not a threat to him.

Meghan found herself smiling just a little as she found herself using a simple glamour to slowly change her appearance in front of him from a woman in her mid thirties to someone who was barely an adult with long blonde hair and back back again. “Something simple like that or maybe refilling wine without moving I do that often but anything more elaborate involves ceremony and all of that. The crew have no idea what species I am.” She pointed over her shoulder to the candles on the floor. It has been too long since she had been in her own dimension for everything to be simple now.

"Okay . . . another question. What species are you? And is what you've been showing me what you really look like?" Jax had to admit that he was a bit more nervous now. Looks certainly weren't everything, but it would rather feel as if she'd been lying to him for a long time if indeed she looked different.

Meghan smiled at him as she listened to his questions. He was trying so hard to understand and accept her despite how his head must be spinning. “We are called Megan.” She snorted. “I chose my name when I realised there were none left after the purge. So I become Meghan and I chose a surname from where we were last together.” She paused to think about her form. “This is a form I have used for a thousand years. I can change it and be whoever I want to be or have no form at all but this is me.” She assured finally.

He wasn't sure that reassured him. She'd said for a thousand years which made him wonder what she looked like before that. "Well, you are robing the cradle because I'm only 38 years old." He joked. "But you said you needed rest, so sleep. I'll stop throwing questions at you for now." He put his face down in her hair and gave her neck a kiss before snuggling down in the pillow for sleep.

As he settled down she realised that she had not told him about her dream or anything else but that could wait. He was so right, she was so tired and it really could wait now it seemed he was going no where.
