Excuse me please," the robed figure said, pushing past a small group of chatters. The market place was as full as it ever was and he was having trouble getting past the crowds without incident. The large case he was carrying didn't help matters either, but it wasn't like he could leave it behind, it was the whole reason he was here.
He spotted his target a short distance away and made his way through as quickly as he could. Crowds made him nervous.
"Hey Trades over here."
He nodded and came up along side, lifting his case onto the near by table.
"So this is it," the client said, "what was your name again?"
Trades gave him a blank look. At least as much as he could given how much of his face was covered. "I'm just here to trade."
"Right, right, so show me."
Trades opened the case, "As requested. Modelled after 18th century Earth Spanish duelling pistols." He lifted one out of the case. "Two hammers on top, left is stun, right is kill. I'm not liable if you get them mixed up. Biometric arming, coding to your DNA of course. As soon as you pick it up it's ready to fire. No one else is able to use them without recoding."
The client lifted up one of the weapons, and raised an eyebrow at Trades.
"No, they won't arm until one hour after the transaction is complete." Trade held out a PADD
"Fine," the client said and pushed his thumb to the PADD. "You know, not that it would probably interest you but I hear there are some ex-Maquis around here."
Trades looked up, his expression unreadable behind the mask, "Nice doing busy with you. Let me know if you have any more work."
This was a problem.
Trades turned away, trying to give the impression that the news he received didn't mean anything to him. But it did. As much as he tried to keep his head down there was always a point where someone would figure out what he was. It didn't matter that he spent most of the war not fighting it. The atrocities of Dominion, Breen and Cardassians snapped at his heels with every step he took. So did those who wanted to continue the violence in honour of those who were needlessly killed. Like his family.
There weren't many who identified as Maquis left in the galaxy. Most, from rumours heard, had tried to re-establish their lives. Some however went looking for those responsible for the deaths of so many colonies. In their rage it didn't actually matter if you were involved or not. You just need to be the right species for vengeance.
He needed to get off this planet.
