Keera was excited. This was the long awaited day that Jeass was to join them. She would be free from Intel's clutches and in a place where they could more efficiently protect her.
In the secure channel message that Keera sent to Jeass, she hinted at a couple of surprises she had for her. She informed the engineer that she had settled in quite nicely aboard a private vessel. Keera reported that she had made several friends and felt this was a good ship to disappear aboard. She obviously felt supported by the crew.
Now, she stood in the transporter room with Jeass' brother by her side. Leiddem was tall and lanky, but also strong and sturdy. He was quite handsome and Keera was smitten with him. He was the only male that had made Keera a bundle of nerves.
"Are you ready for this?" She asked Leiddem. "How do you believe she'll take seeing Reuben? Where is he, by the way?"
“I didn’t tell him what was coming onboard,” The Weapons Master admitted softly. He knew he should have but he didn’t, he was sure that Rueben would hide in shame and his own self pitying. He smiled as he pressed the button on the old fashioned transporter. “Are you sure these transporters work... Rueben said they were just for cargo.” He muttered knowing the ship that his little sister had gotten passage on would only wait for so long.
Keera sent a smirk in his direction. "I think Jeass is a package. What do you think?" The man smiled and nodded and pressed the button. The shimmering started on the transporter padd, it took longer than normal to reform the person giving him a moment of worry.
“What are you doing... that is only for cargo.” Rueben muttered as he came in ignoring the person formed on the padd. Jeassaho stood there wearing black trousers that hugged her curves, a tee shirt and a jacket.
Keera ran up on the pad and gave Jeass a long hug. "It's so good to have you with us, Jeass." Jeassaho looked around confused seeing her brother, then Rueben. She took in everything about him, his thiness, his eyes.
“Rueben...” She breathed. The man berating her sister turned slowly. Jeassaho pulled away from Keera and stepped off the Padd looking at the man not sure how to quite react. "What is going on?" She demanded. Keera gently squeezed Jeass' hand for support. She knew this meeting wasn't going to be smooth. But, it was a meeting that Jeass needed. She still was in love with the man; no one could replace him.
"I believe no introductions are needed," Keera explained. "Jeass, welcome aboard the Mary Rose. "You are safe here. Away from the clutches of Intel. Leiddem, myself, and Reuben are sworn to protect you. You were not safe on the Merc."
Jeassaho could feel the emotions bubbling inside of her. She looked at Keera. "How could you?" She said sound hurt as she was frozen to the spot. Rueben could see the emotions on her face, it was painful to see when all he wanted was to take her in his arms. Keera gave Jeass' hand another gentle squeeze. How could she explain it in terms Jeass would understand? She wasn't safe where she was. She was much better off among the people who cared for her most.
"Intel had a presence aboard the Merc, outside of the Intelligence Department," she explained to Jeass. "Their intent was to keep their eye on you and to keep Reuben in line. If Reuben were to make a step out of their wishes, those people would have been given the command to kill you. They could have been anyone aboard, Jeass. The best place for you is here, with us, the ones who care for you."
Jeassaho pulled hand away looking at Leiddem. "Send me back now!" She instructed as Rueben made a move towards her.
"I can't ..." The older man stared at the floor awkwardly. "It is a cargo transporter." He admitted.
Keera wrapped an arm around Jeass. "Jeass, Hon, I realize this is hard to take. But Reuben was pretty much unconscious when he was taken from that ship three years ago. It wasn't his choice to leave you. If he could have, he would have pulled you from it."
"Don't... Don't." Jeassaho breathed as she stepped hitting the wall skidding down it. Rueben slowly approached and crouched in front of her.
He waited a good minute before saying, "It's the truth JJ."
Leiddem was next to crouch next to her. "All of us in this room can feel his overwhelming emotions toward you, sis."
Keera joined them all, next to Jeassaho, her position directly across from Leiddem. She placed her lips next to Jeass' ear and whispered, "He still loves you." Jeassaho wanted to throw punches, wanted to slap them away. Everyone was too close to her and she couldn't cope. Leiddem felt the anger was a safe emotion. He slowly stood up and sighed feeling bad maybe they shouldn't have introduced her to Mary Rose this way. He glanced at Keera worried as Jeassaho didn't say anything. Feeling the anger as well and seeing Leiddem's look, Keera motioned for everyone to back off while she stood, giving Jeass some space. Leiddem followed suit, but Reuben lingered a moment before rising.
Keera knew she was the one with the most recent contact with Jeass. "Can I have a moment alone with her," she asked the others. Leiddem saw the logic behind the request. Reuben wasn't ready to leave JJ so soon after finally seeing her again. He wanted to hold her and never let her go. But, he knew Jeass was hurt and Keera was a current lover of hers. If anyone could help her understand, gain her trust, it should be her
Leiddem stopped at the door, feeling Reuben's thoughts. "Coming, Rueben?" he asked.
Another moment passed as Reuben contemplated pouring out his heart to Jeassaho. "Da," he finally answered Leiddem. He exited, followed by Leiddem.
Keera gave Jeass another moment to calm. She then broke the silence, "They're gone. I understand why you're upset."
"No... No you don't." The brunette looked up finally tears falling down her face. "I didn't expect this. I knew he was alive but..." It was too much. Keera dismissed Jeass' words that she didn't understand. She felt that she had a good hold on the truth. Jeass had lived the experience, but didn't know the whole story. She crouched before to her lover, this time looking into those hurting black eyes.
"You don't know how ruthless the Admiral and his cronies are," Keera explained. "He would have killed you once Reuben broke free of his clutches. We had to be careful how we went about getting you here. Believe me, I was Intel and I had no clue who to trust."
Jeassaho looked away. "You are all liars and scoundrels." The Chief Engineer said frustrated as she wiped angrily at her wet cheeks. She hated how weak she felt right then and there. She had thought Mercury safe, Starfleet safe but yet here she was everything she had known false.
"Jeass," Keera responded, hurt that Jeass felt that way, especially when she could feel the truth coming from them, "please understand, your emotions are based upon your perception of what you experienced. Sometimes, our perception isn't the full story."
"I want to talk to Rueben..." She finally said. She could feel him pacing just outside the door trying to hear everything. He wanted to know that she was okay.
