"I want to talk to Rueben..." She finally said. She could feel him pacing just outside the door trying to hear everything. He wanted to know that she was okay.
"Yes," Keera agreed, leaning over and kissing Jeass upon the forehead, "you may speak with him. But, reach out with your abilities and feel the truth he speaks."
ON::
Keera arose and walked out of the transporter room. A few moments later Jeass could see a male pair of boots walking up to her. The stopped just before her and Reuben slowly squatted in front of her. He knew she was angry and hurt, he didn't need to read minds to know that. He wished he could change that, but felt so helpless to do so.
"Hello JJ," he quietly spoke. Jeassaho didn't say anything for a good minute before she sat up looking into the most familiar brown eyes in the universe.
"What happened with us... How did we come to this?" She demanded angrily.
"I had no choice, JJ," Reuben spoke softly, despite the pain. "They would have hurt you. I love you too much to let that happen. I didn't know what to do until someone happened to come along with the resources to help."
"Don't call me JJ no one calls me that anymore...." Jeassaho said in a low voice as she took him in. Everything about him looked so familiar, he looked skinnier, sadder, like he had the whole weight of the world on his shoulders.
Ever since Lysina and Keera had explained to him what had happened, he hated himself. He hated himself before for letting down his guard. But what they told him made him hate himself even more. He hadn't eaten much, even with the addition of Chef Nann. She'd tried several times to deliver food, but he'd sit and pick at it, barely eating the delicacies she'd prepared specifically for him. He was taking Talon's Muipo tablets for the pain and drinking on top of it. He was at his wits end.
Seeing her had a sobering effect upon him. "I'd like to still have the privilege," he said, almost pleading to have sanity back into his life. "When Lysina explained to me what had happened, and Keera confirmed it, I was beside myself. Can we start again?"
Jeassaho sighed softly and shrugged she didn't know, but it seemed that she was stuck here until she could persuade them to drop her off at a Starbase. "Rue... I don't know. I mourned you for years, everything about you haunted me. Even now I sleep in your stupidly thin t shirt even though its practically see through.... I... I don't know what to do but it seems I am stuck here until your stop next." She whispered softly.
He wanted to give her a passionate kiss that showed just how much he cared. He wouldn't mind seeing her in that see through shirt, but he realized there had to be some repairs in their relationship. He had just gotten her back and already she was talking about leaving.
"The truth is," Reuben leveled with her, "you are in danger out there on your own. I would prefer, even if you don't see us together in the future, that you'd stay here with us. I'd rather know you were with us than worry what Robertsson would do to you. Would you care for Keera to show you to your quarters?"
The woman nodded slowly. "Resting sounds good." She murmured watching him still. "You look skinny?" She said softly.
"I haven't eaten much," he confessed as he arose, walked to the door and opened it, revealing Keera and Leiddem just outside, wearing worried looks. "Keera, show JJ to your quarters."
Jeassaho slowly rose and wrapped her arms around herself as all three sets of eyes turned on her. "Stop worrying... I will kill you all later." She said hotly ignoring Rueben's intent gaze on her.
"I guess that makes me the first to get offed," Keera joked, trying to lighten the mood, "since I'm your roommate."
Jeassaho didn't react. She just glared. It was an expression that didn't suit her at all. Rueben lent out as Jeassaho was about to leave with someone who wasn't him. "I missed you..." He hoped she understood that he was still stupidly in love with her.
Keera held out her arm, attempting to cradle Jeass in it. "Come on, Hon, I'll show you where we bunk." Jeassaho nodded letting the woman lead her a few steps before she turned back around and threw herself at Rueben wrapping her arms around his neck. Rueben for a moment failed to react to the human contact before he lifted her off her feet hugging her back, holding her so close. It was quickly over leaving Rueben confused as Jeassaho let go and hurried after Keers.
Keera embraced Jeass with an arm when she returned. She would be there for support, although it appeared Jeass was coming around. It may take a few weeks until she was totally comfortable. In the meantime, Keera would be there for her lover. Even if that meant allowing her to go to the man she had never stopped loving.
Keera gave Jeass a brief tour of the ship, ensuring she noticed the work needed in engineering. She then guided her to their quarters, opened up the door and walked her inside.
"It's not much," Keera admitted, "but it's our quarters." Jeassaho didn't say anything as she stepped into the room. It looked very old but comfortable. She wandered around looking in the bathroom surprised.
"Jacuzzi?" She wondered a dark eyebrow rising as she took in everything. Keera chuckled. It was one of the things that she loved about Jeass. She had just toured the ship, seen the condition of engineering, the sparsely furnished quarters, and still wondered if they had a jacuzzi.
Keera gave her a hug. "I've missed that," she whispered. Stepping back she admitted, "Sorry Honey, we're lucky to have running water and a shower. You look tired though. Go ahead, get a shower, and lie down. I can give you a massage to help relax you." The Engineer pulled back and look at her carefully.
"What... There is a jacuzzi in the bathroom." Jeassaho said dropping her bag to the floor. She turned still taking in the room.
"I'm sure your mechanical mind will get it working, too," Keera joked. "Whenever you do, I'll join you for a soak. Until then, all we have is the shower." Jeassaho just smirked and nodded.
"I think I will have that shower and have a nap." She was tired now the adrenaline rush was fading. Keera hugged her lover to herself again. She truly did miss her companionship and her touch. She wanted to make this transition as smooth as possible for Jeass. She caressed Jeass' cheek followed with a kiss on her soft lips.
"Care for some company?" she asked. Jeassaho took her hands in her own and shook her head.
"I would like a few moments to myself. Thank you though." She breathed pulling back to shimmy out of her clothes.
Keera stepped back and admired the beauty of Jeass' small frame. It was totally understandable. It had been a long journey for Jeass, as she was smuggled out of Starfleet. On top of that, Jeass had the realization that she was back together with Reuben.
"I understand," Keera truthfully replied. "If you need anything upon awaking, I'll be on the ship." She gave Jeass another kiss, then walked out the door. Walking down the corridor, Keera thought Jeass appeared tired. But she could also feel Jeass' strong emotions toward Reuben. When she had found Leiddem, she gave him an update.
