Rueben stared at everyone in the mess hall as they all looked around at each other trying to work out why they had been called to this meeting at well past midnight. Everyone looked sleepy and half-dressed apart from the senior crew who had been searching. It was important that he got the point across to them that the crew still in the brig were in there until it was confirmed they weren’t in league with the real bombers.
“Thank you, everyone, I know it is late,” Rueben said standing up. “We have some news on the events that has happened on this ship in the last few days. I know you know that three crew members are in the brig. They are purely under suspicions because of their inability to answer any questions correctly thinking it was a joke that they were being questioned.” Yes, they might be a civilian ship but professionalism and being an adult was what was needed to remain on this crew.
Micheal sat quietly, knowing that at some point during this meeting, the Captain would ask him what he and his team's had found during their searches.
Quang sat there sleepily. Ordinarily, he would have brewed a quick cup of coffee, but he was hoping to go back to sleep after the meeting. He sat there wearing shorts, sandals, and a hawaiian shirt. Not quite usual ship attire, but the meeting had been hastily called.
He would have killed for a nic stick, but knew better than to light up. he waited for the meeting to start.
Paul tilted his head as he looked up from his pad. Nodding before looking down trying to get caught up with the relevant parts of the arrest. Lurking over Paul's shoulder was the ship's Cardassian Engineer, Draia Theroh. Even at this time of night, she wasn't nearly as sedate as Paul. She was pacing back and forth behind Paul's table; she was in one of those moods where she couldn't keep still.
Professionalism may not have been Alika's strong suit, but as she sat at the table, she seemed a bit more put together, though her anxiousness showed with miniature wiggles. "I don't think they did it, either," she pointed out. "Jokesters or not, they'd have had to have advanced knowledge of explosives and being able to mask 'em, and with the exception of maybe one of 'em, I don't think they had that."
Braden sat quietly fuming. They had arrested Bettina who as far as he knew had treated all the injured from the explosion. It was another strike against the command staff here whom he was really had no faith in. Making the cowboy chief of security had disgusted him, being questioned personally had been aggravating. Arresting Bettina was about the final straw.
Rueben nodded and at them all as they settled down again and he could finally tell them who had actually done it. "It was our guess. The Bride and her family." He admitted slowly watching the realisation that his crew had spent the last few weeks with Nollel and her family. It would come as a shock as she was such a peaceful soul. They had all been fooled.
Draia waggled her left index finger in the air, but the gesture quickly turned to stabbing at the air above her head. Draia blurted out, "That bitch!"
Braden stood to leave as if the passengers being the culprits was such a stretch of reasoning? "I am guessing that means all crew will be released?" His lack of respect was easy to see in his eyes, "is the meeting over Captain?"
"Two of them will, the third is still being questioned. For you, it seems to be." Rueben answered looking at Braden, not at all impressed with the man. He knew he was pissed because it was the girl he was sleeping with that had been arrested but he hadn't been in the interview and it was like talking to a child. "You can go," The Russain didn't even wait for him to leave before he went on to explain that they were in the process of contacting the Ardanan government to explain the situation and they were to be handed back to there own government.
Micheal sat quietly, watching the drama unfold in front of him. As usual, the ship's science chief had to shove around the huge chip on his shoulder. He could only imagine how he would have felt with the man, had they served together, back in Starfleet.
Paul sets the PAD down as he listens, having raised his one eyebrow at Draia's outburst.
"At least we can get this all settled," Alika said with a snort.
