The beach was beautiful. Soft, white sands warmed by the twin suns overhead. The water, a blue so crystal clear, one can see the bottom to a depth of at least five meters. The breeze was gentle and comfortably warm. Occasionally, various waterfowl would fly overhead, chirping and squawking, as they searched for food. It was about as idyllic a scene as one could hope for.
Suddenly, out in the water, Micheal surfaced with a smile on his face. He loved the temperature, and even the feel, of the water around him. He had been skin diving for about twenty minutes, investigating the reef three meters below where he was currently treading water. He wanted to find a pretty shell to give to Dixoho as a gift. So far, he hadn't found the right one.
Looking back at the shore, he smiled again when he saw Dixoho. She was currently laying on a multicolored, double-sized, beach towel, on her back, sunbathing. Diving back under, he began to swim the ten meters back to shore. As he reached the shallows, he stood and began to walk onto the dry sand. He was wearing a pair of black swim trunks, with a swirl of red on the left thigh. The water fell from his body and began to bead up, drying in the warm air.
"Hey," he said to Dixoho when he reached the towel. "You gonna stay out here on dry land all day, or are ya gonna join me in the water?"
Dixoho looked up from just lounging on her towel and looked at the man with a grin. "I'm sunbathing. I was instructed to get a lot of sunlight and fresh air. No idea when we might we be on a planet again." She teased turning on her side to look at him as she moved her glasses up to get a proper look at the man.
Smiling down at the young Trill, Micheal slowly lowered himself down onto the towel, next to her, keeping the amount of sand that got on the towel to a minimum. After he was down, he propped himself up on his left shoulder, facing Dixoho. He looked at the surrounding area and sighed a content sigh. "This truly is paradise, isn't it?"
"Even with the people, we have to share the place with." The woman couldn't help but agree with him. The beach they were at had been formed from the dew pockets that watered this planet. It was odd but it truly worked and the water was so clear. She looked down at herself thinking if someone had asked her a year ago if she would be wearing a black bathing costume like she was she would have scoffed at them and told them to get their head examined.
Micheal glanced about at the various groups of people milling about, enjoying the sun. There were Deltans, Humans, a Betalgeusian, even a few Vulcans were in attendance. And, of course, the Azzians were everywhere, either enjoying the gorgeous day by themselves or trying to engage with the tourists. Looking back at Dixoho, he asked, "So, why don't you join me out in the water? It's a bit more private out there." He winked suggestively and gave her an impish grin.
Dixoho rolled her eyes as she laid back on the towel for a moment before she stood up tugging his hand. "I've never been swimming before apart from a holodeck." She admitted trying to not blush at how silly that sounded. "Wait... wait... can you keep an eye on my stuff?" Ahe called back over her shoulder to the small group that had come down with them.
"No problem Red," Deacon replied, "I'll keep an eye on your stuff. Go have some fun."
"They make a very cute couple, don't they?" A voice from in next of Deacon said. It was the old man sitting in the beach chair not far from their spot. He had been there all afternoon, looking at the girls and talking to someone on his communicator. Something about him put Deacon's teeth on edge.
"I guess they do." Deacon replied noncommittally. The old man then smiled and went back to his binoculars. There was something about that smile. Deacon couldn't put his finger on it. He was just probably some lonely old guy trying to get away from the misses, he told himself. Or at worst a dirty old man looking at all the pretty ladies. But still, there was something about those golden eyes of his that was unsettling.
Tran sat on the beach leaning back against his chair. it wasn't often he was on a planet and in the sunlight even more. It was true that it was a bit too dry for his taste. He still preferred the slightly humid climate of his native Vietnam. But it was nice for a change to be in a place where the was no feeling of having to look over his shoulder.
Still, there was something a trifle unsettling about this place. Quang had an idea of what it was. He had been a Starfleet marine for too many years. And of course, the Dominion War hadn't helped create a sense of inner calm.
He took a sip of the drink. Not bad. The mixologist in him had pieced apart the ingredients, although not how it had been blended. But he was on vacation, not stealing drink mix mode.
Tran pulled the tricorder out and began reading the biography of Picasso he had brought along. He was discreet about it. It wouldn't do for the marine turned quartermaster to have image spoiled by something counter to it.
Not far off, Luka had decided to take the time to enjoy the beach. To him, there was nothing unsettling about the sunlight or the waves, and he could easily say he was 'bonding with the crew' for the ship he was trying to get himself recruited for, even if he didn't end up interacting with the lot of them. For now, he set off a little ways from the rest of the group, board stuck in the sand, and eyes on the water, waiting for something to kick up.
The Navigator waved as she ran off to the sea grinning at the beach and sea. It was such a different atmosphere than she was used to having spent 99 percent of her life on a boomer ship, deep in space. "This is awesome. I feel so much better." She admitted taking in deep lung falls of clear air thinking that she wouldn't have to take so much medication.
Tran watched the others enjoying themselves. It was nice that they could. He himself, was still learning the terrain. He'd check out the town the resort was in later, and see if there were any quality discreet brothels there. one day for research, and one day to visit.
