Selina looked at the woman lying on the bed amazed of truly seeing her doppleganger for the first time. She looked just like her in every fact apart from she was heavily pregnant and had a scar on her arm from something that had never been healed surgically. Why had she never had it healed? What had possessed her to leave it there? What significance did it hold?
“Is she as pretty as me?” Selina wondered as she felt the man coming towards her before she even needed to turn around. She had left him at the party to go talk to Michael but the conversation hadn’t been successful in the slightest, just left a horrible taste in her mouth that wine couldn’t quite get rid of.
"Of course she's not." Asahi said with a snort. "You're two vastly different people. I don't know what Mahone thought he would accomplish by showing her to me. Or bringing her here. She's out of her own place, and she's not much use to us." He was livid that the 'other' Selina had been moved from the Fenrir to the Gaman in the first place. There was something amiss here, but now that she was out of Gregnol's hands, he was taking it as a blessing. "But it's better here than wherever he had her stored. Aunt Tajima will take care of her."
"I believe your Grandfather requested the move from Fenrir to the Gaman. You know his weakness for my species," Selina said pressing a hand to the other woman's stomach sensing the baby underneath her hands. "It's a girl... barely awake. How they kept her alive in this state it was a good thing Mahone was there."
"The ship's been through the wringer," Asahi pointed out, tapping the console nearby. "But it looks like they have competent doctors. Their medical advancements are better than ours are. Go figure, a universe based on peace... better science and medicine." He moved around to join her, ignoring the form on the bed. "But it also means hybrids are the norm, instead of stolen away in the middle of the night."
"Or forced to be created." She hissed to him knowing fall well that after the party that this man had aunts and uncles who were half Betazoid now. It made her wonder how much he knew about Admiral Kita and Uhin.
Asahi shook his head. "From what Luka and Dixoho have reported, force is not the norm in that universe. It's not the same. There's a version of Grandfather's Interrogator who helps run the rustbucket that their Butcher has. They work together, not by force."
"Must be nice," Selina said darkly almost as if she forgot that Kita was there as the stared at the woman.
"It's not out of reach, Selina." Asahi pointed out. "Not for you. And not for her either. We have to get her back to her ship and her people. Once Grandfather does whatever it is he's trying to do, we should get them all back to their reality..."
Selina looked at the man surprised. She hadn't expected him to say something like that at all. He wasn't about deceiving his family at all. "Of course it is out of reach." She shot back not even considering that she could help these people get back home. Home was a concept she didn't have anymore.
"It's not." Asahi replied curtly. "And I'm gonna keep telling you that, even once we're on the new ship and away from all this madness. Even when we're on some other planet, safe from the war. I'm not gonna stop telling you." He frowned. "We really should get this one back to her ship and hooked back up to whatever they had keeping her from wasting away. I feel like she'd just be experimented on if we keep her here."
"Why not wake her?" The woman suggested. "Mahone said he had fixed up whatever got her shot?" Selina suggested moving to look over the information from the medical display. "We have better equipment than that rust bucket."
"But that rust bucket is her home," Asahi pointed out. "And we've done quite enough appropriation. I'm trying to give it back. I don't think the Admiral is going to be opposed to us just letting them go, so long as we spin it right. Why would we wake her? That isn't going to do anyone any good."
"Because I want her awake. I want to speak to her." Selina said glancing at the man. He couldn't understand, he wasn't faced with a woman who was her given a few different choices in life. It was hard to rationalize it to herself let alone him but she wanted just a moment.
Asahi frowned. "We don't want to alert anyone either. What if we find out she's just as powerful a telepath and she tries to get out? I'm sure it'll be just as jarring to her to see you as you are to see her..."
"Then why did you follow me here?" Selina wondered with one final touch of the other hers belly. She wanted all of what it seemed the other woman had at the moment.
"So you wouldn't be interrupted by someone worse." Asahi admitted. "Beauty of being armory is that I know where all of everyone's going to be, or where they're supposed to be. I already had to send two to the booths for trying to make their way over here. Selina, we have a good chance of making it out of here. I'm not letting some two-bits ruin that for us."
Selina looked the man over and sighed. She hated how she was tracked all over the ship. "Okay." Was all she said wishing she could wake the woman up and just have a moment with her just to know about her and her life. Maybe another time she would get the chance.
Asahi didn't seem pleased with her reaction, but a scuffle from outside caused him to press his ear to the door. "... And that's our cue. Selina, if you want to get out of here and away from all this, then we've got one chance. I got a ship being prepped now. We gotta go while the Captain's distracted."
"What have you done to distract him?" Selina demanded sure that this chaos was going to lead to one of there deaths. She glanced back at the woman lying in bed before she nodded. They had no time to do any more than escape if she ever wanted to live a life where she wore more than this slip of a dress and woke up more exhausted than she went to bed every night due to the mental strain.
"Me? Nothing." Asahi shrugged. "But I'm not Micheal Robertson. It seems we're not the only two people who think the Captain is a little too comfortable. We can escape now, and all these people we took will have their homes, and no one will have to look back. No one."
Selina looked at him and nodded as the ship lurched to the side violently making her slam into the door frame with a small groan of pain. "Okay time to go." She whispered taking her heels off. Not one person could run in heels it was a proven fact.
