Nathan moved, instinctively to his wife. Putting his arm around her in a protective motion. “As you wish, sir.” Were the only words he spoke as he pulled the Trill along with him out the door and in the corridor. He didn’t say anything he simply pulled his wife to him. Gently touching her lip with his thumb, the concern in his eyes. “Are you ok?”

The woman winced as his touch on her lip and moved away from him. “He has done worse.” She commented on looking at the door as it closed. She couldn’t shake the feeling that something terrible was going to happen to the woman that they had left in there. “He would have killed you if you had gone to my defence. Shortest XO stint ever.”

Nathan mirrored her feelings. He also knew that short of killing the man there wasn’t much that they could do. “I don’t give a shit about being XO.” He admitted stepping closer to her after she had moved away. “If he had gone after you again, I would have ended him. Boss or not.” His hand brushed her side. “I only stopped because you asked me too, but no one hits my wife.”

“Nathan… He has done worse.” She commented on in a hissed voice as she heard Jeassaho inside the room yelling something and the man mock her back. It wasn’t worth staying to listen to it. She grabbed his arm and tugged him along the corridor to the war room and pushed him inside.

“Yes, he has done worse but not in my presence.” Nathan didn’t put up any resistance as she guided him away from his office. He couldn’t help the smile on his face as she shoved him inside. He pulled her to him and kissed her, keeping in mind her split lip. “Had I been there, I would have killed him then.” He said softly. He was protective of the Trill, always had been.

“You would have died where you stood,” Dixoho said softly as she pulled back from the kiss. It hurt and she needed to fix it.

“He could try,” Nathan replied as he moved to the med kit in the desk. He wasn’t surprised or hurt by her lack of belief in him. After four years he was used to her. He smirked as he handed his retrieval to her.

The woman accepted it without hesitation and sat on the huge desk that was there. “He would win.” The woman had no hesitation that she would be a widow then and there.

Nathan didn’t say anything. It was a conversation neither would win and he wasn’t in the mood. He watched her looking over the planes of her beautiful face as she used the dermal regenerater to repair the damage. “Why did you do it D?” He started. “It isn’t like you.”

“Which part?” She wondered softly.

He watched her for a moment. “You protected her despite what it could have meant to you” The Trill wasn’t an uncaring bitch despite her reputation but she was self-serving which meant there had to be something...more.

Dixoho shrugged a little before she put down the tool moving her face to see if she had repaired it enough. “She was kind to me,” Dixoho said in a soft voice that betrayed that deep down there was something soft in her. “That other me has kindness in her life.” She said with another shrug her mask coming back up.

Nathan wanted to go to her. He wanted to pull her to him and show her that someone in this universe was on her side. With the barrage he had put her under the last few days he wasn’t sure how she would react. He finally lost the battle with himself and moved to her wrapping his arms around her. He didn’t say anything despite how he wanted to tell her he loved her.

Dixoho froze at the hug that seemed to come from nowhere. What happened between them to change things? They used to fight and make it up between the sheets but this was loving almost tender between them and it felt unnerving. “What has changed?”She wondered.

Nathan didn’t have an answer to her unasked question. If he was honest with himself his feelings for her had grown little by little starting from when he met her. She had been there for him when he was the most broken regardless of their motives. He had convinced himself for years that their marriage was one of convenience, but it had always been more to him. He placed a kiss on the top of her head before he finally spoke again. “Let me love you, D.”

The woman frowned at him again completely unsure of him but didn’t pull away. Love had nothing to do with there universe, people in Imperial Starfleet didn’t love each other, it was about egos. “I don’t know if I even love myself let alone let someone else love me.” She whispered as she felt a pin on his uniform digging in.

Nathan grinned at her comment. There was something about it that amused him in the contrast between her confidence and the admission. “I know,” was all he said as he let her go and looked at her for a moment. “You are worth it, you know.” He added before taking a single finger and running it along her jaw, down her neck and along her decolletage.

Dixoho shook her head. She wasn’t worth it at all. How could she be worth it when she had so many deaths on her hands. “Not exactly worth it at all.” She said gently.

“I am certain, Michael would agree with me in this one instance,” Nathan said with a laugh as he turned to move away from her.

The woman raised an eyebrow at the man and what he said about Michael. Nathan never mentioned the man by name at all, never mentioned him more than a negative manner so that was a welcome change. “I am sure he would comment on something.” She said watching him move away.

“Of that, I have no doubt, my dear,” Nathan said with a smile. “Meet me at home for dinner.” He said softly, not a question. If she wanted him to make the decisions then he could easily comply.

Dixoho found herself smiling a little. “You think we are going to get dinner today?” She snorted. They were both lucky they hadn’t been recalled to the bridge already.

He stopped and turned to look at her. A passionate fire burning behind his eyes. “Yes.” He started. “No matter how long we have to wait.”

Dixoho’s smirk dropped and she looked at him unsure. She had only ever seen that expression on his face twice before when she had returned several days ago and on there wedding day. “Okay.” She said softly. It wasn’t much but she touched his shoulder as she passed him.
