Mission: Mission 1 - Bridges
Location: Shuttle Bay to Quarters
Timeline: MD27 :: 16:30
2243 words - 4.5 OF Standard Post Measure

The Delta Flyer with no markings approach the Mary Rose. Inside, Keera was cautious. It was about an hour and a half after their meeting. Would Reuben accept her as a member of his crew? He did say he needed her, but would he accept her? As she approached, she transmitted to whomever was at the communications panel.

"Mary Rose, this is the Queen Anne's Revenge just off your bow side. Awaiting to dock."

Lysina responded. "Aye, we were notified by Mr. Gregnol that you may arrive." She sent a communication to the Shuttle Bay. Soon, the massive door was retracting.

The Queen Anne's Revenge carefully entered the bay. Keera often had to fly things, but landing seemed the roughest for her to do. She eased the flyer to a rest on the deck of the bay and awaited the all clear that the door was closed and the air pressure normalized.

Keera took the time to think. In StarFleet, most of the crew accepted a mate based upon their rank. Here, no one had to accept her as a member of the team. She'd have to prove herself to them, just as she had to for Reuben. Hopefully, they would see her as a valuable asset. Dixoho jumped up as the woman finally appeared out of the Delta flyer.

"Hi?" Dixoho said watching the woman carefully. Rueben had told her that she was in charge of this woman's tour and showed her to her quarters.

Keera sized-up the redhead. She had the raw appearance of one that had not spent much time in any given culture but her current one. She seemed as if she could handle herself, as this had been the only lifestyle she had known. There was a certain quality within her that reminded her of herself. A quality of resiliency, which meant nothing would keep her down for long.

"Hello," Keera responded in a calm, cool manner, with a smirk on her face. "I assume you're my welcoming party? I'm surprised Gregnol didn't send someone with ropes and chains."

"thought the chains and ropes were a little too much especially as we barely know each other." Dixoho smiled wildly. This woman had shaken Rueben, she hadn't seen him angry or like this before. He had yelled at her to see Keera onboard.

That was positive. A joke, an innuendo. Maybe this wouldn't be so bad. The girl nearly her height, dark brown eyes, the hair color clearly artificial, but sexy.

"Okay so what did you actually do to upset Rueben... He was all angry and no where near as charming as usual." She murmured flicking her long hair over her shoulder as she looked over the ship.

"Let's just say, Red," Keera replied, keeping her smirk, hoping she wasn't offended with the nickname, "that I know a little too much about him and his past for his comfort to be shaken. So I take it he's not often like that?"

Dixoho laughed and shook her head very quickly. It wasn't like the new captain at all, the man barely spoke. "Only toward one of Engineers who has a chip on her shoulder ."

Well, hopefully Keera could prove her worth to Reuben soon enough. She was surprised to hear him referred to as captain. The last she had heard, he was the First Officer. She wondered what had happened to escalate him to Captain. Incarceration? Death? Mutiny? At least she didn't have to prove herself to someone more senior in rank.

"My name is Keera by the way," she confirmed to Dixoho. "Tell me what I can expect serving this ship, Red."

"Well I go by Red or Dixoho." The Trill led the way out of the docking bay into an empty bare corridor. "Its different from Starfleet to say the least.... Rueben said you were Starfleet." She explained thinking her surprise directed at that. It was difficult for her to explain, she had always lived like this.

"Ex-StarFleet," Keera was quick to answer. "I got tired of being used." She appreciatively looked the Trill over. "I'm determined to live free. Anything I do now," she said with an added grin, "I aim to get pleasure from it."

There it was. Her Argelian nature of seeking pleasure throwing out a hint. She wondered if Dixoho had ever been with a woman. There probably had been lots of men, simply from the world in which she lived. If she had been with a woman, it wasn't one like Keera.

"Fair enough!" Dixoho said simply as she started her door at the bottom with the Engine room.

"Red?" Keera inquired. "You strike me as one that has served these types for a while. I may rely on your experience. What's it like? Who can I trust? Who do I steer away from?"

"Hard work but we survive. Have no choice but to survive especially me, I've always lived on these type of ships." She shrugged. "I trust the Captain... Rueben is as steadfast as they come. I trust the Doctor.." She paused thinking of the foolish Doctor, but it wasn't her place to try and sort him out anymore.

Great! The main man to trust was the one that didn't trust her. Yet, she would have to trust Reuben or there was no point in being here. She'd make a point to meet the doctor. Keera noticed there was no mention of those to stay away from. Certainly, this type of ship, there were those who were shady, a bit gray, or even downright dark in character.

"And who do I not trust?" Keera probed.

"Majority of everyone else. You need to learn your own way." She pointed out softly with a grin. "I was told to show you around the Engine room in detail?" She phrased it like a question, unsure of why that would be.

Engine Room? Why the Engine Room? That seemed out of place. Keera wasn't versed well on engineering. It's why she didn't serve in that capacity. It wasn't her gift. So, why did Reuben insist she have a detailed tour of the Engine Room? It didn't make sense to her.

But she followed onward, taking in all the redhead showed her. "Red? ... I noticed you didn't put yourself in the ones to trust," Keera observed with a smirk. "I'm sure that was an oversight."

"Oh I was a given, everyone trusts the guide." She smiled softly at her.

As they walked through the Engine Room, Keera notice it was smaller than the Mercury. There was a lot of work needed to be done it seemed to get things to proper efficiency. It appeared to need several upgrades. She was out of her league here; Keera didn't know a dampener from a conduit.

But she knew someone that would enjoy herself here. Jeass would lock herself away for days down here, tinkering and getting things proper. She often was seen as overworking. Keera thought she used it as a coping strategy at first, but then realized Kea just enjoyed the work. She took pride in it. Whatever she did, she was damn good at it. Keera chuckled thinking that Jeass would have a field day on this ship.

"What you chuckling at?" Dixoho wondered as she pointed out the emergency escapes from the Engine room. She thought them arcanic but it was how things used to be.

"I don't know engineering," Keera laughed, "but I do know someone that would enjoy working in here. There's just so much; she'd definitely be up to her elbows in work. That's the way she likes it."

She turned her attention back to Dixoho. "What do you do, Red?"

"Oh i am Astrometrics." She murmured shyly.

Another area in which Keera wasn't well versed. She was more trained for action, thinking on her feet, and deception. It still took intelligence, hence the name. In some ways, what she did was similar to Science. Both based results on facts. But in Intel, Keera didn't start with a hypothesis.

"So, you are the guide," Keera teased. "I assume that since we have fewer crew than a fully staffed StarFleet vessel, there isn't much down time. When we do have down time, what's there to do?"

"I have down time... we don't work all the time." Dixoho rolled her eyes at the woman. "Pretty much i am your guide for this schduled flight." She giggled softly before she lead the way out of the room to the nearest lift.

Keera made note of her appealing giggle. It seemed the two of them were hitting it off well. Red was smart, sexy and seemed open and trustworthy. Inwardly, Keera wondered how open she was. Was she as open as Jeass to a friends with benefits type relationship.

Within a few minutes they were stood inside the bare room that would be Keera's quarters.

Keera looked around the room, taking in the sparse sight. She had to keep reminding herself that this wasn't StarFleet. Keera kicked off her black leather boots, got onto the bed and tested its firmness. She laid back, supporting her head with a bent elbow.

"Well, at least the most important furnishing is here," Keera joked with Dixoho. The woman shrugged.

"Rooms aren't too bad. Baths." She said pointing to the sliding steel door.

Keera sat up on her bed. The Trill didn't seem interested. "Girl to girl," Keera probed, "any interesting men. You've told me about Reuben and the doc. Reuben is living in the past. So, that would leave only the doctor?" Dixoho shrugged, she got stung the last time she has tried to offer opinions, she wasn't going to ever do that again.

"You know Rueben huh?" She had tried to seduce Rueben and he had completely blew her off.

Keera laughed at the reply. That must mean there are no available men aboard. Just her luck. It was good she didn't fully rely upon men.

"No, I don't know him," Keera truthfully answered. "Just his past. Enough to know he's stuck there. So, no available men," Keera said with a smirk. " How about females?"

"I don't know... I got burnt last time someone asked my opinion." Dixoho shrugged and sat on the bed with a frown. "I thought you had someone?"

"I have lovers," Keera confirmed. "Unattached lovers."

"Well this is a two person quarters." The astrometrics officer said confused. Had she misunderstood.

Keera arose and removed her black leather vest. Underneath, she wore a white tank T-shirt. She turned and threw the vest on the bed. "I have a roommate? When do I meet her?" Dixoho shrugged as she was the woman relax easily. It would be that nice to be that easy going.

"Maybe i miss understood what Rueben was saying," The redhead mused softly looking around the room. It was set up for a couple.

Keera turned to face her, feeling her confusion. What was she trying to say? Then it struck her; there was only one bed in the quarters. She began to laugh as she understood Reuben's thinking. He knew he messed up, that Jeass and he were no longer a couple. He knew Jeass was angry with him and began relations with others, including Keera. What he didn't know, was that inwardly, Jeass still had feelings for him. Even so, Keera hoped she would still be able to hook up with Jeass when she finally joined them. It appeared that Reuben made that easier.

"One of my lovers will be joining us," Keera admitted. "Not for a while." She looked Red Dixoho in the eyes and caressed her face. "Tell me, Red...do you play with females?" Dixoho shrugged, she didn't know, she didn't know her own mind since Talon had decided to chase Tabitha despite her un suitableness and past.

Keera sensed her feeling. Unsure. Rejection. The girl definitely needed someone to treat her special. Keera was well trained in that area.

"I... I... I should go!" Dixoho murmured quickly. This conversation was confusing her. They had just met.

"You should?" Keera probed with a sly grin. "But, you don't have to."

Keera sat on the edge of her bed again. She'd let Red decide for herself. Either way Red had a win-win decision. If she stayed, Keera would ensure she'd enjoy the time with her. If she didn't stay, she'd have the pleasure of rejecting someone instead of being the recipient of rejection. Keera often found that many females were often surprised by her forwardness. But often, they'd come to her at a later time in secret, desiring what she had to offer.

"Yeah... I don't step on peoples toes." She whispered freaking out a little over the forwardness of the woman. She quickly headed to the door.

"I'll be seeing you," Keera called after her. "Thanks for the tour."

Once Red was outside her quarters, Keera got undressed. It had been a long journey for her, finally catching up with Gregnol. She was tired. Once all of her clothes were off, she got beneath a the blanket on her bed. She hadn't realised just how tired she was. She quickly dozed off and fell into a sound sleep.
