Get power on

Jeassaho was excited. Today was the day they were going to get the core working and some semblance of power going on the ship. "Anyone else nervous or excited?" She wondered thinking the results of what happened today with them getting the core on decided the fate of both ships.

"Definitely excited," Cami grinned over at her. "Thank the Prophets we get the chance to bring an old ship back to life. I don't know about you, but I'm loving every minute of this!"

"Absolutely," Burnie agreed. "It's like being Dr. Frankenstein in one of those old vids, ready to throw the switch and yell ..."It Lives!", " he cried, over-acting the quote and adding a cackle as he flashed a mad scientist grin.

"Uh huh." Cami had no idea what the boss was talking about and just gave Jea a little shrug. "Wanna run through the final checklist?"

Jeassaho glanced at Cami and smiled a little. She had no idea either but sometimes Human's confused her. "Sure. Should logical." Jeassaho could not deny she liked a good checklist run through, it made sure everything was correct.

Burnie sighed. You'd think people who worked on a Connie would appreciate the classics.

"Hey Angie!" Cami called over to the other engineer present. "Stop snoring and help us girls out over here!"

"I don't know an Angie!" called the disgruntled engineer from under an old console. He pulled himself up, leaning over and pointing a tool at the young Cami. "It's Angus and you know it."

"Nawwww...so he is awake after all. Thought you might have nodded-off down there." She gave him a wicked grin. "Boss wants us to fire things up. You finished poking around in places you shouldn't?"

"Once you are, check the reaction chamber temp," Burnie said, not joking now since by the book on start up with a ship out of service this long required some focus on serious. "If she's up to 2.5 million K and holding steady, double check the EPS and MRI before we start the anti-matter stream."

"I will to the chamber temp checks," Jeassaho commented and moved to check it properly knowing the time for joking around was over and she slipped easily into the familiar routine. "It is holding." She confirmed.

"Little bit of feedback from the magnetic constrictors. I can hold those manually, should be comfortably within threshold," Cami flagged. "I've seen this before; it'll settle itself down once the plasma flow gets up to operational levels."

"Okay, but keep a close eye on it," Burnie replied. "How does the pressure reading look?"

Jeassaho looked at the pressure reading. It was not what she would have liked from on a Starfleet Vessel but Rosie had been operating on worse recently. "Not what I would normally like but that is Federation standard, not us putting pieces together out of nothing," Jeassaho commented.

"I kinda like piecing things together out of nothing..." Cami murmured. "Constrictors are holding. Plasma flow is within safety threshold."

A loud bang came from behind the console Angus had dove back into, and the string of swears that followed signaled that the man had encountered something. He jumped back up, eyes wild at the floor below him. "Coulda sworn I just heard somethin'."

"Heard what?" Burnie asked tersely. Bad enough they were re-starting an old ship with half the readings marginal, the last thing they needed was something to break at a crucial moment. "We checked the structural integrity of everything down here."

"We did twice over. I did once and Cami did another." Jeassaho called as she started to glance around. She had done the checks herself and she knew Cami had done another sweep over just encase. Two heads were better than one. Something was not right at all.

"Nah, everything's been checked. It was... somethin' else." Angus took another couple of steps back, squinting as if that would help him hear. "It was... rustlin'. Living. Somethin'... weeeeeeird."

"I swear, if this is about the 'Angie' thing, it's really lame as a comeback," Cami responded. "I'm trying to keep an eye on this plasma flow here, so any time you want to actually restart this warp core, that would be sweet too."

"Something living? Tell me it's not..." Burnie grimaced, "...a spider."

Jeessaho said nothing around the spider comment. She was not getting involved in that conversation again. It was been enough listening to her husband as he had gone on after Eden and her friend. "Me too."

"I just want to be sure there's nothing in there that's going to chew through connections right when we need them to work," Burnie explained, maybe a little defensively. It wasn't that he was terrified of spiders; he had good reasons for not liking them ...or anything that might survive on an abandoned ship by eating its innards.

"If yer worried about spiders on this ship," Angus began, eyes to Burnie. "You ain't seen nuthin' on the Rose yet." His mild amusement diminished as he heard something rustling and bumping underneath their feet. "Nah, it's big. I dunno much about animals, but I don't think it's a spider."

"I do not want to talk about Eden's spider," Jeassaho mumbled as she took a step back as she heard that same sounds as Angus. "It sounds like person size." The woman said taking a few more steps from the console to listen better.

"As long as it's not a clown with a red balloon," Burnie muttered, picking up a laser welder as he approached it. He eyed the base of the console, then banged on the side. "Hey! Anyone under there, come out now!"

The sounds that the group had been hearing ceased. Angus grunted, stomping forward and clanging his wrench against the other side of the console. "OI! YOU HEARD HIM, GET OUTTA THERE!"

But, nothing came. Angus's nose scrunched in annoyance. "Ima go in there and get it out if it's gonna be like that."

"We have cookies!" Cami added loudly, giving Jea and Burnie a little shrug.

"Don't go in there," Jeassaho said softly putting a hand out to stop him. She did not like the sounds at all. Something really was not feeling right to her at all. She didn't like how this was feeling suddenly and she had spent nights on the ship.

Burnie sighed. "Okay, power down. We're already handling magnetic constrictors manually. We need to get whatever that is out of there before we slam matter and anti-matter together."

"Powering down," Cami sighed. "Seriously, Angie. Get your butt out of the there and call someone from security or something. Not worth your time.

"So I think that went well? Definitely worth the time and effort?" Jeassaho offered trying to lighten the mood just a bit was the strange noises and the need for security.

"Heh." Burnie's mouth went a bit sideways, as he continued watching the console, just in case a man-sized spider decided to crawl out. "I guess we at least know we can get this far before disturbing whatever's hiding in there."
