It was like time was stretched as Jeassaho lay unconscious on the floor from a head wound that had come out of nowhere by something unseen or unknown. It was Gregnol's voice that first alerted that help was on the way. "It should be down here. Hello Jake!" The Captain sounded worried but he was logically looking through the quarters trying to find the correct one.
"In here!" Jake called, relieved to finally have assistance. "I don't know what happened, one minute she's up, the next she's on the deck."
Gregnol rushed into the room and took in his wife unconscious on the floor. "Doc." Gregnol backed up a step to let the doctor get to Jeassaho as he looked around for clues to what had happened. He knew Jake would not have hurt her so something else had to have.
Caden was quick, following after the Captain without any question and then found himself next to Jeassaho as soon as he was able to. He quietly took note of her head injury, before ruffling through his bag. "Did you see what hit her? It looks like blunt trauma."
Jake shook his head. "I was in the next room. Just heard her fall." His mind went into investigator mode as he nudged a fallen pipe with his foot. It had a small mark on the end, likely the implement used to knock Jeassaho out. "No signs of anyone else in here and I didn't hear the door open or close. If someone did come in and knock her out, they managed to do it silently and within the space of about ten seconds. That's...not impossible, but certainly unlikely," he explained, looking up at Gregnol.
"You never know on this type of ship." The Captain nodded listening to the report before he looked at the pipe, it would certainly cause some damaged. "Take that back to the ship and get Ka'see to help do some old fashioned investigation on it. Doctor?" He said kneeling next to his wife stroking her dark hair away from her face. This was not how he imagined today going at all. He had imagined his wife just going across to get the information needed to make the decision over what ship not to find herself unconscious from a head injury.
"Aye, boss," Jake nodded. He paused over them. "I managed to slow the bleeding best I could. She'll pull through, won't she?"
"She will if I could get a little space to look at the injury for," Caden pointed out in a deadpan. He gave Jake a momentary glance. "You didn't do too badly though. I can patch her up here, but I'll want to take her to the Med Bay in the next few minutes. We could test out the Med Bay here, but this place creeps me out."
"I'll call it in," Jake nodded. "I, uhh...think we should add some more security to the Temperance, maybe." It was an awkward thing, trying to make the suggestion to Gregnol while his wife was unconscious on the deck.
"Do it." The Captain for all his distractions over Jeassaho needed to know that the rest of the people on board were safe. He knew his wife would never forgive him if he put her needs above everyone else.
"Right away." Jake paused in the doorway. "We'll find who did this, boss."
Caden didn't look up from his work as he readied a hover-stretcher for the woman. "Yeah, could have been whatever's bumping around in the ship."
Gregnol bent to move the woman he loved from the floor onto the stretch and stood up to him fall height. "You better hope Jake that you find them before I do," He said bluntly, his accent was thick from anger.
Jake nodded stiffly. "Understood." He did. Whoever or whatever was responsible, they were likely in for a world of hurt.
