0t wasn't often that Saa wanted to drink away her problems but she was fed up of the Alexandria being a problem and the fact Rebecca refused to come back online for her. It was like the AI system was just as upset with Michael as she was, and she did not blame her but no reason to take it out on her.
"Can I have the booze that Humili has just brought up?" She wondered sliding into the seat in front of the woman who she had seen around the ship but never spoken to before.
Dodian had been on board for a little while now and had yet to make any real waves. That was how she liked it. People came to her, and in her new role as a travelling bar owner on the SS Mary Rose. She had a bar back on Earth that she had set up in 2382 but it had been left in her niece's charge.
"Sure can miss." Dodian replied to beautiful redhead before her. "Hard day?"
"Something like that." Every day was hard to Saa at the moment. It just kept spinning and moving and not stopping. It was frustrating but there was nothing she could do about it as of yet.
Dodian smiled politely as she went behind a screen to get the recent delivery that Humili had dropped off. As she came back around the screen she could see the woman was preoccupied and usually people opened up to her. "Welcome to Moonbeam." Dodian said as she placed the drink down in front of her. "Can I get you anything to eat? Sometimes a little food helps when something is bothering you. We like to help..." she said looking noticing she was the only staff she had. "Well I like to help." Dodian said rubbing the back of her neck and looking a little embarrassed she'd forgotten she was not in the Firefly.
"I ate in the mess," Dixoho assured quickly. Not wanting to be a bother other than purchasing her drink. She did not want to do much other than having a drink after spending the last 48 hours running around the other ship trying to get systems working enough for them to move.
This woman was not budging an inch. Dodian was trying to be pleasant but it seemed the lady before her just wanted to wallow in her own misery. "Ah ok." Dodian replied thinking on her feet. "You know, if you want to vent some frustrations I am an excellent listener? I don't mind, I mean people talk to me all the time." She was a listener after all.
"Dodian isn't it?" Dixoho wondered as she sat on the bar stool instead of running off to the corner like she wanted to. It would be so easy to spill out her soul to the woman but it was the only thing keeping her happy at the moment is she had that anger that she could use.
"The one and only." Dodian replied. "And you are?" She asked. Dodian could feel the woman holding back and it was a shame to see someone bottle up their troubles. Dodian may be a barkeep now but she had been a psychologist and medical doctor, her 'extra-canicular' activities of taking out the 'trash' aside, and she still wanted to help people.
"Dixoho Saa. I navigate this rust bucket." Dixoho said with a shrug. It was hard to believe that anyone did not know who she was as she was one of the few original crew left since the beginning.
Dodian did know who she was but it was nice to give people their place when meeting them, and sometimes she found that if someone introduced themselves it gave them more comfort in the conversation. "Ah she's not too bad. Scrubs up well when she needs too." Dodian was in truth referring to her bar after all the efforts she had made to spruce it up but she meant the ship too. She had always loved this type of class, something in its simplicity spoke to her. "My first posting in Starfleet was on a Constitution Refit, the USS Ahwahnee. She was beautiful, rusty in parts by that time but still there was an elegance to her."
"This used to be one of our endless cargo bays," Dixoho said thoughtfully looking around. She could remember the fire explosion and fire. Dixoho nodded, she had a little love affair with the ship herself. It was a beautiful thing even if it was falling apart and Dixoho was scared they were one run in away from breaking down.
"Yeah I know, think the damage to it was the reason I got it so cheap." Dodian admitted. "But anything with a little love can thrive again. Although I do not have any real experience with holding ships together, just people." she added whilst thinking after 'And taking them apart depending on how bad they are.' she smiled a little at that thought.
"It was pretty shabby." The Trill shrugged. It felt like it was a long time again when the Cargo bay had been blown up by the bride not wanting to get married. It had certainly been an interesting time with that Doctor who had led her on before Michael had appeared in her life.
Dodian smiled a little awkwardly as the conversation stalled a little. She poured herself a drink and for a moment began to stare at the stars beyond the glass. In this she realised she had missed space travel and was happy to be amongst them once more. She felt closer to her Gods and that made her happy.
Dixoho took a few more sips before she sighed. "So what brought you here then?" Not many people could see profit it a civilian vessel like the one they had.
"Just a little change of scenery," Dodian said but she had felt there were eyes closing in on her on Earth. "I was born in the stars and I missed the travel. Civilian ships usually have the most fun out here." she shrugged a little. "Sometimes you got to bring smileys to people." she again shrugged and nodded to the smiley face above the bar. It was her calling card when 'doing jobs' but she used it as a brand on her bars too.
Dixoho nodded and saluted the smiley face downing back her drink. "Certainly used to be fun then a lot of crazy stuff has happened." Dixoho said thinking of the ship that was now in the hangar bay that was registered to her.
"You ever think about branching out? Doing something else?" Dodian asked.
"Nope." Dixoho answered quickly. She was safe on the ship, bounty hunters did not have any inkling where she was or what she was doing anymore since Michael despite his faults had dealt with it all.
'Quick answer.'Dodian thought. A little strange with a hint of fear in the voice but Dodian didn't press it. Som people preferred to be hidden and she for one appreciated that herself.
"I can see how remaining in one place can offer a feeling of safety. You know what to expect here, little surprises you in the way of day to day. Sometimes when people go looking for adventure, the excitement they often are disappointed as their dreams never meet the reality of what they wanted." Dodian said as she had poured herself a drink and downed it quickly.
That hardly felt like it was the ship that she was on. Lots surprised her still and things changed enough to not make her want to get better. "I left one place to join here and this is so much safer than there," Dixoho said with a shrug as she held out her glass to get some more.
Dodian smiled a little as she filled the woman's glass up. If she asked more probing questions her El Aurian pheromones would take over and the reveal would be on but she didn't like to use that on people. Not even when she was a psychologist. There was always something more real about someone wanting to tell you than making them. "I am sorry where you were was not safe for you. I have some 'experience' of living in fear and uncertainty." Dodian admitted vaguely. Her time as an Orion slave was not the best of memories. For a moment she got lost in that remembrance.
"This ship is safe and the people have pretty much become family so I can not complain really." She had been stupid at the beginning but that was all behind her now. It was safely in the past. She looked at the woman lost in her own thoughts and smiled. "Penny for them?" She offered thinking the woman might want to talk herself.
