Dixoho strode out of the ward room quickly before anyone could catch up to her. She didn’t want to talk to anyone that had been why she had pretty much legged it out of the room first. She was half way down the corridor when she heard a familiar voice calling after her. She carried on for a few more paces before she felt someone grab her arm gently.

Talon saw Dixoho was shutting down. He figured that he had something to do with that, although he felt he had done nothing wrong. He enjoyed it better when she was talking to him. If a friend wished to aggravate Joss, not that he had many he would call friends, that one would simply stop talking to Joss. Talon hated that. It was counter to what Joss understood friendship. Friends worked through their differences. Inside, Talon wasn't sure how to work through this. Dixie was attracted to him; he loved Tabs. For the friendship to last, they'd have to work through things.

"Hold up, Dixie," Talon softly spoke. "We need to talk."

"No we don't." She murmured slowly turning to look at him. "We've both said our piece Joss. I am doing what I can to stay out of the way and not cause issues."

Talon bit his lower lip, clearly aggravated, as he pinched the ridges on the bridge of his nose. He had thought most women to be difficult. Dixoho must have been their queen. But she was his first friend aboard the Rosie. He wanted this friendship to continue. He was always loyal that way.

"Yes," he kept an even tone, despite his frustration, "we do. Don't you see? This is an issue we need to work out." The woman slowly pulled her arm back and frowned.

"Why Talon?" She demanded her bright eyes looking into his, searching for something.

If she didn't care about the friendship the struck, why should he? But, he did. He had spent thirty years of his life with no one close enough to bounce ideas off. No one for moral support. No one as a friend. He wasn't about to let someone like that just discredit what had formed.

"Because that's what friends do, damn it!" Talon exclaimed. "And I care. Dixie, you are a good friend. I don't want to lose that."

"I've never had a friend." She shrugged at him in her usual defensive way that meant she was pulling back. "I don't want to be your friend and I know you don't want that. I don't know how to turn this feelings off." She admitted wrapping her arms around her middle.

"I do want you as a friend," Talon argued. "It's important to me. But I'm in love with Tabitha." Talon didn't know how to make her understand that they didn't have to be lovers to be close friends. "Look...," he sincerely spoke. "You say you've never had a friend before. You've wandered inside the ship from port to port, not caring for anyone else. Not developing any type of personal relationships. I know how that feels. I've been there. And now, I wish to settle down and find out what I've been missing. And, I want you to be a part of that experience."

"More fool you but fine. Were cool." She said sounded for a moment vulnerable and alot younger than her age. "I don't think I can. I fell for you because of your kindness nothing more and if I stay here that kindness will disappeared."

Talon laughed at Dixoho's first statement. It was an inkling of the Dixie he knew and cared for. But his jovial laughter soon turn more concerned with her last statement.

"I was about to say, 'Glad to have you back, Dixie,'" Talon confessed. "One thing you never have to fear, is sharing your opinion. That's what friends do. My kindness is part of who I am. It will never disappear, especially with you, Dixie." Talon took one of Dixoho'shands in his and gave it a pat. "You will always be a special friend to me. Higher than any other. But my love belongs to Tabitha."

"More fo...I'm sorry... I'm stubborn your right you love Tabitha better off sticking with her." She couldn't see what he saw in the Engineer but it was his choice as bad as she thought it was.

"We're all stubborn now and then," Joss confirmed, meaning he could be as stubborn as most. "I'm glad to know you, Dixie," he added sincerely. Dixie pulled her hand back wrapping her hands around her stomach. She shook her head a little but she relaxed

"I am glad to know you but I don't know if I can be like I used to be. It feels strange." She whispered looking at the floor.

Talon grinned, happy that they were back on track to a beautiful friendship. "It'll be alright. We'll make it; we're a team."

Joss thought of the Senior Meeting from where they had just come. He nodded toward the ward room with his head as he said, "How'd you think it went in there?"

Dixoho frowned, not convinced despite his positive nature. She was a realist, she had seen too much of the universe to be like that. "It was certainly interesting. I really thought that Rueben was imagining his girl but she's stunning but quiet. Barely uttered a word apart from introducing herself." She shrugged at it all really, it was underwhelming.

Talon understood how Dixoho felt. Everyone was still new to each other and still feeling each other out despite the efforts to bond them with the huge party. They were still adding to their crew. It might take this first voyage to find out everyone's capabilities.

"They'll all come together," Joss spoke optimistically.

"What about you? What are you feeling?" She wondered gently.

"I think that everyone's new to the ship," Talon suggested. "It will take some experiences together for everyone to feel comfortable with each other."

Dixoho nodded slowly taking in his opinion on things. She sighed a little and turned to look down the corridor. "Um... I have to go. One of the Engineers is meant to be outfitting Astrometrics with me." She admitted softly as Rueben came out of the ward room.

Talon reached and gave Dixoho a side hug, glad they had the conversation. "Have a wonderful day, Dixie. And please come and see me in sick bay. You are looking pale."

"I am fine." She assured moving away as Rueben came closure a clear look of confusion on his face. Something was going on with the pair and he didn't want the angst.

Talon tightened his lips in disbelief. He wished Dixie would take better care of herself. But what could he do? He couldn't force Dixie to come to sick bay. Maybe he could convince Reuben to order her to sick bay. Would a friend so that?

"Okay," he temporarily agreed, "you know your body better than I do. If any complications develop, promise you'll see me." The Trill made a noise of agreement as she started to wander off leaving the two men alone.
