Engineering - 0815 hours

It had been a couple of days since his arrival on Rosie. During that time he had met the Engineering crew piecemeal. That is, one at a time, but not all together in one place at one time. That was a hard thing to arrange; especially with a staff as small as his on a ship as big as the Rosie was. No matter how old she is. Which, thinking about it, was one of the reasons it was so hard to get his staff together all in one place. Everyone was so busy.

He had decided yesterday that he needed to get them all together in one place, even if it meant slacking off on a job or two in the meantime. So he had called a meeting of all his staff for 0830 this morning. That way it was near the end of shift for the overnighters, and just a bit before the beginning of day shift. So no one was excessively inconvenienced by attending. He had made it clear that not showing up was an option. Not unless the docs could provide a death certificate, or show him their corpse.

He tried to make it a bit more pleasant for them. A full pot of coffee, along with bagels and cream cheese, and a dozen mugs, waited for them on one of the work tables that he had cleared a few minutes ago. Now all they waited for was for folks to come and lay claim to them.

Bradon glanced at the time; 0847. They should be along any minutes. He leaned back on a nearby piece of equipment and waited.

Jeassaho strode into the room yawning and pale looking as she tied her boiler suit around her waist. She wore a dark coloured tee underneath the blue boiler suit that swamped her and made her look tinier than normal.

“Morning… Morning Bradon.” The Betazoid said mid yawn as she offered him a bright smile. It was easy to see the woman was beat but she was trying to put on a brave face and move past how tired she was. She looked around the mess room that was specifically for the use of the Engineers and quickly eyed up the coffee pot and mugs. "Mine." She grabbed up the bright blue mug.

Tabitha barely remembered the engineering "Greet and meet." She wasn't quite feeling right, a furious night in bed with Doc had wrecked her. She moved quietly and kept to herself till she had no choose. Entered the lounge, smelled coffee and went for it without a word, hoping it would kick start her.

As Bradon was filling his second cup of the morning, Pearson, Tinsdale, and Rhodes entered Engineering, then headed for the cofffee and food. He waited a few minutes, then knocked on the table he was leaning on to get everyone's attention.

"I appreciate you all taking a few minutes out of your day to be here this morning. I know it has inconvenienced some of you, but I promise this will not take long." He paused for a moment to take a sip of his coffee.

"This is the first time that we have been together as a group since I joined the crew," he stated. "I have worked with each of you, however briefly, and thought it would be a good idea to bring us all together from time to time. I do not know how your former boss handled the department, so I thought it best to clear the air, about me, as it were. I have been told that I am a demanding boss, but a fair one. I will leave that up to you to judge." He paused again for another sip of coffee.

"For the most part, that is true. I am demanding. Being an Engineer is a demanding job. You have to get things correct the first time with ninety percent of what we do, otherwise bad things can happen. To us, to the ship, and even other crew. So I do expect you to double and triple check everything you do when it comes to your jobs here. That's not to say I am unforgiving when you make a mistake. I'm not, as long as you bring the issue directly to me and do not try to talk your way out of responsibility for your actions. Lying to me is a big problem for me. You make a mistake, tell me about it, and I will work with you to correct the issue. Bring an issue to me and lie about what happened to try and redirect the blame; that will get you your walking papers. Am I clear on this?"

He paused, taking another sip of coffee, waiting to see if anyone responded.

"Sounds fair enough to me." Jeassaho said with a nod of her head. She hadn't wanted to say anything but the silence was deafening to her and she couldn't stand to let it go on when the new Chief had been making an effort to not only get to know them but let them know what was expected. "And just to let you know i don't lie... no point." Jeassaho added lightly blinking her onyx eyes at the chief to make a point as a Betazoid it was engraved in her culture about lying.

This was all well and good, Yeah Team!! UGHHH!!! Tabitha just wasn't into it.. "No trouble I guess.." She was feeling like crap.. Yeah.. "I think I need to go to sickbay..." But the Coffee worked like magic, waking her hard and fast. She took three donuts and sat to munch away. After downing two of them.. "Hey boss, exactly What do you want to do about our,, um Employer?? He's clueless about ship things you ask me..."

Jeassaho raised an eyebrow at the Chief Engineer and bit her lip trying to hold her tongue. She could handle the hybrid most of the time but moaning about Rueben like this was out of order especially as he had given her a job despite the former chief Engineers reservations about her attitude.

"Are you kidding me? I think he has done an amazing job with the crew he has got which sadly includes you despite the reservations most people have. If you have a problem with him i'd love to see you say it to his face and watch him leave you at the next port of call." Jeassaho finally said looking amazed that the woman uttered those words. The only person who made an effort was the Doctor and for the life of Jeassaho she didn't understand why.

"If you are referring to the Captain, Ms. Tiffin, then my opinion of him is just that, mine. Perhaps one day, when I know whether you have gained my trust or not, I may answer your question." Bradon's reply, a bit louder than normal, cut through the rising tension in the air like a knife.

"Does anyone else have a question they would like to raise? Otherwise, I am going to go ahead and give you the watch schedule we are going to use until further notice." He looked over his assembled team, seeing if anyone else would speak up.

Jeassaho settled down into her seat and relaxed again. She glared for a second at the Hybrid letting her know she was bang out of order bringing anything like that up. She wanted to say more, but she respected the chain of command and the fact the Chief Engineer had said the final word on the matter so she left it with him.

"Look I'm not dissing him, I'm not wanting us all to get stuck and he Not be able to make a decision is all.." Tabitha stated plainly.

"Okay then," Bradon stated, "we're going to start out with three shifts, 0800-1600, 1600-0000, and 0000-0800. I will try and rotate you when I can, but for now, this is it. Alpha shift is myself and Pearson. Beta shift is Kea and Tinsdale, and Gamma shift is Tiffin and Rhodes. Of course, any issues you feel I need to know about, call me. No matter time. If you can't get me, go to Kea."

Jeasaho raised an eyebrow at the comment about her but nodded quickly. She didn't want to argue or seem ungrateful it was strange enough that she wasn't chief. She smiled at Tinsdale and gave Charles the thumbs up.

Bradon stood and looked at his engineers. "We've got some work ahead of us. We'll get it done. Dismissed."
