Hal's mind was still processing what had just happened. Normally he'd just let it go, this was different. One hundred fifty years worth of different. It was a bit much to take in. Truthfully he needed a drink, and what they called "synthehol" wasn't going to cut it. With that not being a viable option, Hal settled for the next best option, a walk. They normally served reasonably well to clear his head. Plus he was borderline curious on how the Ishimura changed in all that time

One problem, the ship was different too. Nevertheless he walked. Along the way he spotted one of the four people he knew in the world at this point. Rank didn't mean squat to him right now so he just called out. "Hey Jasper!" he said.

Jasper's eyes wondered about in amazement at what he was viewing. Everything had changed, refits he imagined but still operational after a hundred and fifty years. The man looked over at Hal and chuckled, "so much has changed Hal, just so much. I'm not even sure if I could do my job anymore."

Hal nodded. "I know what you mean. Seems like there's more power in one hand phaser nowadays than my whole squad had combined. It's enough to make your head swim." Hal cleared his throat. "Well at least we don't look bad for our ages." he chuckled, his sense of humor flaring up again. "I was on a walk to clear my head. Wanna come with?"

"Sure," Jasper chuckled and then gave a sigh, "I can't say mine is any clearer." He motioned with his head forward and began walking, "so any place in particular you want to check out, "security perhaps?"

"Good a place as any I guess. Was thinking an "exploration mission" he chuckled.

Jaspers shrugged his shoulders, "actually I don't know what we'll find so it really is an adventure." He chuckled and shook his head, "hard to believe this is the same ship."

"I hear you on that one." he agreed, smiling. "It is nice to see her still flying though. That's something at least." he said as they continued their walk.

Jasper glanced up at the signs that indicated the area they were coming to, "Engineering, I thought for sure this level was security before." He chuckled and looked over at his fellow survivor, "what do you think about at least volunteering to help out around here if there's something we can do? From what I have gathered it seems there's parts of the ship that need a lot of repair."

"Good idea!" Hal said. "Something to do at least." he said, rolling up his sleeves

The former Ensign shook his head, "do we ask the Captain or who if we can, i sure don't know what to do anymore."

"I hear you on that." Hal said. He shrugged. "How do you even tell who's in charge here?"

"Well they do have someone who is like the executive officer and a physician that like the CMO but everything else I'm just not sure about."

"I heard that." Hal said, nodding his head. He looked around and took stock of everything, shrugging his shoulders.. He nodded. "Still, some sort of insignia or something would be helpful."

"I'm not sure they are keen on that sort of thing," Jasper replied as he looked down a long corridor and chose to turn left, "the might be trying to avoid any appearance of military order." He chuckled as he glanced over at his friend, "I wonder if she still has all her Jefferies tubes or have they been removed?"

"Your're probably right." Hal chuckled. He followed Jasper. He grinned, and then thought for a quick second. ""I dunno. It'd be interesting to see though." he laughed.

"Do you have any family left to contact Hal," Jasper asked as he continued down the corridor, "it's not like I had a lot of family in the first place but here really isn't anyone I'm even going to try to contact."

"Mom and dad weren't exactly young when I left for the academy. There might be some Detans still around but I'm with you. Not ready to even try just yet."

"Even if I found a relative they would already believe I was dead and probably have no real interest in me," Jasper chuckled, "it's been a hundred and fifty years Hal and humans don't last that long."

They came to another intersection and Jaspers paused, "want to try the next level, see what else we can find?"

"Sounds like a plan to me." he smiled

Jasper nodded as he motioned ahed, "and there is a turbolift, at least that hasn't changed."

"That's good. I'd hate to have to look for them too." he laughed. The doors closed. "One deck up, please." he said, assuming that it was voice activated.

The lift responded after Jasper made his way inside and faced the door, "and it works the same too, another good thing." He chuckled as he looked towards his friend, "you know we just might be able to make it in this time period."

Hal smiled. "Yeah." he chuckled. "That's handy. Reminds me of that old saying." he said.

"What old saying," Jasper asked furrowing his brow as the doors to the lift slid open something about things staying the same?"

"That's the one." he chuckled.

"Well let's hope they've improved some things in a hundred and fifty years," Jasper chuckled as he began walking down the corridor and trying to take in everything, "any idea what department this is?" He glanced down a crossing corridor and back down the other, "looks like ops used to be on this floor but the jefferies tube hatch that was on the right is missing."

"Yeah, you're right. And were those doors always there?" he asked. "I remember that to be wall." he said, scratching his head.

"I think you're right Hal," Jasper said as he chuckled, "they sure have changed a lot of things and I heard something about it being used as a medical ship for a while." He tilted his head as he looked at his friend, "had you ever thought of it being used that way? I certainly hadn't.'

He shrugged. "I hear you on that."

"Want to grab something to eat," Jasper asked with a grin?" He looked around a corner and began walking this should look around to the turbo lift."

"I could definitely go for a bite.' Hal smiled. "Lead the way, Jasper."

Jasper chuckled as he stepped into the lift and turned his back to the wall, "main mess," he ordered and then looked over at his friend, "I haven't figured out why if they have these food replicators they need a real cook anymore?"

"Who the heck knows, man. I will say that there is something about a real cooked meal though." he smiled.

"I know," Jasper said with a nod as the door opened, "It really is nice and I'm glad they have the option, it just seemed like a duplicate of services is all."

"Agreed." he nodded, motioning for Jasper to go first.

Jasper stepped off the lift and glanced back at his friend, "wonder what the chef has for us today?"
