Cassie looked at herself in the mirror, she looked human compared to most Vulcans and that suited her just fine. She just hoped it suited her husband as she couldn’t change now and it was his pon farr through the link that was leading them to this step. She looked down at her long flowing purple dress and gulped, she had been to a cousins wedding once upon a time many years ago but it didn’t prepare her for this or what she had done to get to this stage. Johnathan and his last words kept going through her head as she stood there taking in every word as she tried to explain that she couldn’t marry him, couldn’t be his forever.

How could she tell him that she hadn’t actually seen the man since they were both seven years old: at this age or that Vulcan children enter into arranged marriages during a ritual ceremony. That the childhood bond does not have an exact correspondence with a Human engagement, as it was "less than a marriage, but more than a betrothal". She didn’t want him to really understand it, he needed to hate her to move on.

Slowly she walked out of the room and her father followed her into the chamber to meet her husband. Not many people knew she was part human it wasn’t a known fact as many didn’t survive but she did. Cassie could already feel the drive in her and the heat rising from her cheeks that told her it wouldn’t take long for her to be bonded now.

The maidens already stood waiting for her and led her and her father outside into the garden.

Tevir stood on his family's wedding ground, hand pressed together in front of him, his fingers linked as his eyes were closed in concentration. He wore a purple sash around his waist as a clear indication he was in Pon Farr and that nothing could be held against him today. He picked up the mallet after a few seconds of thought, then slammed it against the gong. Looking up, he held his breath as he watched her step outside.

"We meet at the appointed place, at the appointed hour," he spoke hoarsely, unable to tear his eyes away from her. He held his breath, waiting for her to move, or act.

"What ye are about to witness comes down from the time of the beginning without change. This is the Vulcan heart. This is the Vulcan soul. This is our way. Kah-if-farr." Cassie heard the man officiating the bonding speak as she froze in the doorway hearing the gong.

"Go...It is just the heart gong calling you...Everything is going as it should be.." Her cousin said softly. Cassie turned and looked at the woman unsure. She couldn't concentrate this was why betrothed couples were always escorted to Koon-ut-kal-if-fee. The family member who were escorting just made sure couples showed up for the ceremony, and didn’t run off. At last, Cassie entered, barely able to keep her eyes down as she walked towards the required spot.

Tevir waited for her to speak, and when she didn't there was the tiniest and briefest flare of hope. "I burn," he stated, looking her directly in the eyes. "Do you burn?" The plak tow, the bloodfever was upon him, and he wasn't sure how long he could control himself. Obviously, she wasn't going to challenge, so he looked up at the priest, waiting for him to complete the bonding ritual.

Cassie closed her eyes for a second before she opened them the time for a challenge was over and she couldn't do that to her father after he had lost so much. Tevir was his partner's son, it would destroy everything he had worked for if she did challenge, it would bring shame. "I burn." She whispered shaking as the bloodfever only got worse. She took in his appearance and saw nothing of the boy she had known 15 years ago.

Under the watchful eye of the high priest, Tevir raised his right hand and placed his fingertips on the katra points on her face. "Parted from me and never parted..." he said clearly, waiting for her to finish the mantra. He felt their souls entwine, completing the process which had bound them when they were seven.

“Never and always touching and touched,” Cassie said, husky as she looked at him touching her for the first time. Their bond pulsed, alive and thriving. Maybe she would grow to respect this man, maybe it wouldn't be so bad.

"It is time," Tevir said, dropping his hand. At the same time, holding that hand up to her, two fingers extended. The only touch in public that was permitted to them, a touch as meaningful as a Human couple holding hands. "Come." It was time to satiate that immense drive, satiate the fever.

Cassie heard both their names mentioned and the words that it was over, they were joined by mind and soul barely as her husband held out his hand to her. She wanted to frown and tell them it was Cassie and not Ka’see but she couldn’t her arguments were lost in her needs and drives that had caused this wedding to happen.

Tevir led her back inside, towards the privacy of their new home. The door closed behind them and he permitted her the smallest of smiles. Something she would only ever see in the privacy of their chambers, a smile meant only for her. Drawing her to him, he kissed her, before losing himself entirely.
