Taking advantage of the fact that Sebastian had set the door sensor to recognize Eden and let her into his quarters she slipped in happily one evening, coming up behind him and putting her hands over his eyes. "I have a surprise for you! But you have to agree to be patient and to see it through. Do you agree to my terms?" She asked in a cheerful excited voice.
Sebastian had just returned from a meeting and was surprised when his door burst open and his eyes were covered. “Um sure.” He mused waiting for her to take her hands away from his face to spin around. He was still trying to adjust to being back in command and medically cleared so something fo take his kind off the last month or so would be nice.
"Sure huh?" Eden said with a bit of a grin on her face when she let him turn around. "It's painless, just a little walking is all and walking is good for us. So we start with this," She handed him a PADD detailing where he should go first. But of course, Eden could not just sit by and let this happen to him alone, she had to accompany him and see for herself whether he found the object. On the PADD was a riddle. What is said to be like a scholarly and sounds like an alliance? "I thought about torturing you and making you figure out the riddles yourself but then I decided you'd had enough of a bad time lately and I would be nice because I love you. So I wrote the answers in! We're off to the science lab!"
He was very much lucky to be still alive after what had happened in the crystal caves. He could not remember what had properly happened but he had been assured it would not be happening again. Kaldrec was gone. "Are you giving me a tour of my own ship?" The man wondered grabbing up his uniform jacket putting on the blue coloured jacket to at least look professional on his tour.
"In a round about way I suppose. That wasn't really my intention, but I think you've been through enough lately and so this turned into a gentle walk instead of a scavenger hunt where you're running all over the ship. I could just give you the item but a walk is nice right? We can talk along the way." Eden looked up at him enquiringly.
“It is exercise.” Sebastian shrugged a little with a small smile. It was a good evening for a walk and to unwind he guessed. “What are we talking about?” He wondered cluelessly.
Eden shrugged. "Whatever we want. You did have someone else in control of your body for a while . . . but I figured you probably don't want to talk about that seeing as you've probably spoken to counseling already about it. We could talk about how I'm the most adorable being in the universe," she joked. "You know me, I'm easy. Actually I do have an idea. I was thinking that after what happened we might considering going on a vacation for a while, just the two of us?"
Had he spoken to counselling? He would have snorted if it had been anything other than Eden. He had spoken to counselling more in the last month that he had in his twenty year career. It was not something he ever wanted to relieve ever again but it had gotten him his ship and commission back to action and himself back where he wanted to be. “One day I swear Eden I will talk about Kaldrec and what happened but until then. I am really not ready but a holiday just the two of us sounds nice.” He mused thinking of the fact they were heading back to Earth for a little bit.
Eden nodded her head very seriously at the fact that he didn't want to talk about what happened to him. But she brightened when he said he would like to go on a holiday with her. "If you could go anywhere in the universe for such a holiday, where would it be?"
“Home.” He found himself saying as they stepped into the deserted science lab. It would definitely cheer him up and allow him a moment to reflect and rebuild his confidence in himself again.
"That would be nice. Though my home is different from yours." She gave a small shrug and then pointed to a small slip of paper placed on the floor in one corner. "Engineering next!" She said loudly and cheerfully. "Well, hopefully you'll soon get that chance." She almost took his hand, their fingers brushing before she remembered they were in public and he wouldn't like it if she did.
“Well we are going to Earth so many we will have time.” He mused looking around the lab as he picked up the piece of paper from the floor of the lab of the Vulcan and Human Hybrid scientist onboard. He would need to have a catch up eventually with Ka’See and discuss everything that had transpired but for now he was content to leave everyone where they were. He smiled at her gentle brushing against his fingers and nodded taking a step to the left to avoid anything.
"Maybe I can see where you grew up and meet your family? I'm not from Earth, as you know so I don't have anyone to visit. "
The man stopped and looked at her surprised before nodding. “I would love to show you around.” He assured quietly thinking on what they could do. He was a quiet man more used to using his mind than strength.
Eden smiled warmly at him as they approached engineering. She pointed to another small slip of paper. "It's the observation lounge," she pointed out. "I can't wait." This put a certain energy into her step. "About Earth I mean. I've long been curious about where you come from."
The Captain nodded to the shift officer who spotted them. The woman smiled and nodded back. It was good to see the Captain down there but he seemed to be preoccupied so she did not offer a report or anything more than observe that he looked around. "It's just France. President lives there." He offered as an explanation with a small smile.
"Well I've never been there. So it's exciting to me. So much rich history and beautiful countryside to explore." She seemed to drift off in a daydream while she was walking and nearly ran into another Ensign who was trying to go the opposite direction. "Oh, sorry!" Eden called after her.
The Ensign gave woman one dark a look before rolling her eyes. “Don’t worry.” She muttered seeing the who the Ensign was with. “Sir.” She added softly nodding to the Captain before carrying on into the Engineering they were leaving.
“It has a lot of history some good… some bad like any long establish country or planet.” Sebastian mused pressing the turbo lift chime to call it.
"Yes, but somehow it's more interesting if the history directly involves you." she shrugged. "Anyway.” Assuming it was alright if she asked him questions Eden went forward with it. "This is totally unrelated to what we were just talking about but . . . do you think I'm odd? I don't know why I've been worrying about that lately."
Sebastian moved back to allow her to enter the lift first. Once the door is closed he turned and looked at her properly. The tall man shook his head and touched her fingers just for a moment before pulling back. “No Eden I think you are unique. It is just a word that people use to make themselves feel better about belittling someone else.”
She nodded. Perhaps he was right. She'd heard talk about herself and though she generally didn't listen to such things, Sebastian was her weakness. She cared very much what he thought. His touch always sent a little shock through her system. "Have you ever been married?"
“No, but I was engaged until last year.” He admitted without hesitation. “You have met her. Captain of the Lexington.” He thought everyone knew about his long term engagement.
"Oh I remember her. The woman who was giving me dagger looks. May I ask why you guys broke it off? Oh, here we are, our last destination. I'm not going to help you with this one."
Sebastian nodded at the woman as they stepped out the lift into the observation lounge. It was deserted at that time of night. “We grew apart and Starfleet would not place us on a facility together. It was confusing and a mess at the end. We could not make each other happy.” It was not as simple as that but it was the basics of the situation. He looked around as far saw the box under a char, pulling it out and undoing it he found an antique sextant.
"Happy unbirthday since I don't know what day your birthday actually is and I didn't want to break into the system to find out. And happy anniversary. Cause it's been six months." Eden was smiling, hoping he liked the gift. "It's in case we get lost."
The man frowned looking at the gift for a moment before his solemn face broke into a smile. "It is lovely Eden. I am sorry I have not really thought about that properly. I had not realised it had been six months or anything." He had not been keeping track of much of anything recently. Everything had been lost in his trail of recovery.
"It's okay. I'm a romantic but I realize not everyone is. And you have a really good excuse for having a lot on your mind which is why I wanted to do something for you. "
Sebastian looked at the device and smiled fondly as he put an arm around her and hugged her close for a moment. It was a quick hug just encase anyone came in. “I will do something nice when we get to earth.” He promised.
"Sure," Eden grinned at the display of affection. "So you're now released from the scavenger hunt and are free to go."
The older man smiled at her and the excitement she was obviously feeling over setting this all up. “Thank you for this. It’s been pleasant.” He assured.
"You're welcome," she put a gaze in her eyes that she hoped was sufficient and then said loudly, "Have a good night Captain!" And she walked off without another word.
