Waking up is a hard task to do

Leiddem stumbled up from his cot and looked around coughing to try and get more oxygen into himself after lying down for so long. He stumbled into first Jeassaho's cot, then Rueben's they both looked comfortable enough. He had been told that everyone had been giving the cure but he seemed that he was one of the only crew members awake. He turned hearing someone else coughing.

"You okay?" He wondered.

Ben slowly opened his eyes and looked around him. He didn't know how long he had been in a coma and the light in sickbay, as dim as it was, made him squint. The coughing was hurting his lungs, his whole torso, but, at least being awake was a step in the right direction. "I've been better," he managed hoarsely.

"Sit up!" The Marine instructed weakly moving over to the other security personnel. He gently helped him to at least sit up and lean forward. "Should help you breathe a little easier." Who knew all his medical training would come in handy eventually or so quickly.

"That...is...a...little...better," Ben said, "so what has been... going on?"

"Just keep leaning forward if you can," Lieddem instructed slapping him on the back again. The man looked around and shrugged just a little. Wasn't it obvious that there had been some kind of sickness and that was why everyone was pretty much in sickbay, "Seems like there was a virus thanks to that grotto."

"Okay," Ben said, "I could kind of guess that something like that had happened. My question was more like how did it happen, how bad is it, .and are we out of the woods yet?"

Lieddem rolled his eyes, he wanted to answer in his usual wise cracking way but his head hurt too much to do it. He just didn't have the energy to be sarcastic. "Well we are awake does that answer your question?" He finally said in a leveled voice.

"Well, yes," Ben conceded, "we're alive and awake, but what about the other people affected, possible lingering effects and things like that?"

"Look around," Leiddem said throwing his arm around the room of pretty much unconscious people. "Most are still out of it, to be honest but I've only been awake an hour or so, different people respond differently to medicine." Ben carefully sat up. His right side was still a little sore, and like the other man, he still had a bit of a cough, but other than that, he was feeling almost human again. His bare feet touched the floor and he stood still for a bit, making sure he was oriented and acclimated, then he started to walk towards the nearest biobed.

"Take it slow." The Betazoid advised in a low voice as watched making sure the other man didn't over do it.

"I am, "Ben assured him. He was still a little weak and every part of his body, including his eyeballs hurt. But that didn't stop him from reaching the bed and looking down at the unconscious woman who lay there. Her breathing was shallow, but even and she looked as if she were sleeping. He had seen in in passing before but didn't know who she was.

"Dixoho... She was one of the first to get sick. She's still in trouble from the chart." To prove the point he held up the paper chart that explained everything about the Trill's condition. Ben didn't understand everything that he was being told, but he understood enough to know that a cure of some kind must have been discovered and that everything was soon going to be returning to normal. "Did anyone die?" he asked.

"I don't know," Leiddem admitted with a sad look. "I will go have a look." The Betazoid disappeared off to look through the Office. He was slower than normal thanks to his muscles not being used for a few days. He soon returned with a sadder expression on his face. "A few people... people already with their immune system compromised I believe." He was surprised Dixoho had survived.

"Do you know this person?" Ben asked Leiddem. He took hold of the biobed to keep himself steady.

"Yeah, she is our Navigator. She wasn't very well before she came in. I found her barely breathing and brought her in. She might have been Patient Zero." The Betazed said remembering finding her in the Ward Room barely breathing at all.

"I'm so sorry, " Ben replied, shifting uncomfortably. He was a lawyer, not a counselor, but he could at least listen f he was needed. "Is there anything I can do?"

"Not really but the thought that counts." Lieddem murmured, he didn't want any more bad emotions in the air. If people were starting to get better they might as well get out of there and be in their own quarters. "Why don't you get out of here if you feel up to it. No point of being here."

"That's a great idea, I'm feeling good enough to at least make it back to my cabin under my own steam. And I'd rather be there than here." The Native American, left the sickbay, heading back to his place.

Lieddem frowned a little. The man was odd to say the least but who was he to comment on. He stretched for a moment before starting to work on checking over Dixoho and the other crew who were still either groggy or had of them not woken up.
