She awoke unexpectedly early the next morning. Kicked herself. Why hadn't she slept with him?!?!?!? Morals aside, He was a wonderful man, unlike her former husband. It had been the alcohol. Normally she absolutely would have had he been sober. She was a little minx and knew she wanted him inside her. So, now what? She smiled. Time to play come and get me. She sent him a few snaps at her morning "worst". Just to see what would happen.
The night before, Talon had just made it to his couch before passing out. He was currently in a deep sleep. He dreamed of being in severe pain. His head was throbbing; he seemed to have a fever, as he was soaked with sweat. Yet someone was calling for him. Someone must have needed his medical skills. Despite his own condition, he had sworn to help others.
Joss began to rouse, realizing the pain and sweat were real. He was suffering a huge hangover. He remembered the heavy drinking last night. That was in his office. Tabs was there too. Or was that a dream? How had he gotten here?
It took his brain a few more seconds to realize the voice calling him was real as well. Tabs was calling to him from his bed. Had they? It couldn't have happened. He would remember that. It was the single most important thing he was looking forward to happen. Yes, he would have remembered. He was finding himself falling for her. He was in love.
His bed had been a good fit. A rather important find actually. Sex was Not sleep and had different requirements. Tabitha figured he was operating under duress this morning, She'd seen at least three large bottles, two of them empty when she'd found him. After snapping the pics she sent them in a slightly cruel blaring message to his PADD, than hide in his sheets, wondering what would happen next.
"I know you are in there!" Rueben called after his third attempt at banging on the door and that was after his attempt at the on-board communication system. "One more knock and i am breaking in!"
Talon had his throbbing head in his hands. Maybe the voice wasn't Tabs. He did see her in his bed, didn't he? Yes, but the voice was coming from the door. He wasn't in the best of shape for the boss to be at the door. He reeked of sweat and alcohol. But duty was calling. Hopefully, there hadn't been an emergency. Joss was in no condition for such a case.
"Enter," Joss managed to shout, much to his heads dislike. He arose from the couch and headed to the door to his quarters. "Enter," he mumbled in a quieter tone. Rueben slid the door open and stepped in leaving it open to the world, he didn't care. Nothing was private on a ship like this. He nearly barged into the man and stepped back.
"Deities you smell like a brewery." He glanced around the room and noticed the Engineer in his bed but said nothing. It was the Bajoran's problem not his.
"Sorry Boss," Talon humbly said. "Too much last night." He motioned toward the couch; it was the only place to sit. Talon was lucky. Most quarters only had a bed. "Please have a seat."
As Reuben came further into the quarters, Joss pinched the ridged bridge of his nose. He knew it looked and smelled bad. He hoped Tabitha hadn't earned a loose reputation in Reuben's eye. After all, nothing had happened. Did it? Of course not, he'd remember. Wouldn't he?
"Tabs," Talon suggested, "you may wish to stay under cover. We have company."
Since she wasn't nude it didn't matter. She pushed up from her hiding spot. "Bossman." Her relationship with him was icy anyway.
Turning to Reuben, Talon attempted to explain. "I was drunk last night. Tabitha helped me to my quarters. She watched over me to make sure I'd be okay."
"I don't care! It's your life my friend." Rueben said gently not moving towards the couch. "Seeing you have company. I will discus what i need to later with you in private. Say an hour in your infirmary." He murmured coolly looking at Talon one last time before turning heading towards the door.
Talon took this opportunity to let Tabitha know how important she was to him. If he wanted her to be a part of his life, he'd have to be willing to share with her. If it were bad, she'd be there to comfort him after. If it were good, they could celebrate together. He knew exactly what he'd like to do to celebrate.
"No wait," Talon found himself saying. "Please Boss, it's alright. We can talk now. I have nothing to hide."
Partially dressed Tabitha stepped around the two men to the counter where a small coffee maker sat, along with a cook top. Then made two cups of coffee. She placed one next to Joss. Eyed Rueben than slunk back to the bed.
"No it's private!" Rueben repeated, he didn't want to discuss things in front of the Engineer. Senior officers need to know only at the moment ad Joss was now technically a senior Officer. "I'm still Starfleet at heart. Chain of command even on this old lady." He glanced at Tabitha for a moment before rolling his eyes and moving back towards the door.
Talon wasn't StarFleet and could have cared less about such protocol. As he thought about it, Talon realized it could be Reuben needs to discuss his medical condition. Talon had been ensuring he was taking the medication he had given to him. If that were the case, he understood the need for confidentiality.
"I understand," Joss replied. "One hour."
Rueben just nodded and left, not even sliding the door closed.
Talon understood that he should freshen up before heading out. Reuben said he smelled like a brewery. Joss took a sniff. It was more like a distillery. That made sense, since he down a load of whiskey.
Talon turned to his bed, eyeing Tabitha. He was almost certain nothing happened. He was ninety-nine percent certain he would have remembered. Joss suddenly got a wicked smile upon his face. "Care to join me in the shower?"
She really shouldn't. "Coffee first; we do have an hour after all." Tabitha slide from the bed, walked up behind him leaning into his broad shoulders. "And No we didn't you were too drunk."
