Johnathen carried Cassie into her quarters and gently laid her down on her bed. He then quickly, yet deliberately, went around and lit the candles that she had positioned around the cabin. Next, he lit some of her favorite incense and set them up properly. He then had the computer turn off the lights, leaving only the soft flickering candles to provide the needed illumination. Once that was done, he had the computer play the appropriate ambiant music that would normally be played during the bonding ritual. Since he and Cassie had first declared their love for one another, all those many years ago, he had studied everything he could get his hands on, regarding Vulcan mating and bonding rituals. He wanted everything to be perfect.

Finally, satisfied that he had set the mood properly, he returned to Cassie, grabbing a bottle of water and a single glass along the way. Kneeling before her, he poured some water into the cup. After putting the bottle down, he held the cup out in front of him, taking a sip first, before speaking. "My beloved, accept this water as a symbol of my vow to keep you safe from the eternal fires that burn within your soul. Please recognize that by my drinking of it first, I willingly offer my life to protect yours, from this day to my last. I am yours, beloved. Use me as you need to, to quench your fire. I give myself to you completely."

She accepted the water despite barely being awake beyond exhausted with fighting the Pon Farr that had been brewing for days. She wanted nothing more than to just tell Johnathen to come to bed. "Nath... you don't need to do formal... I don't want formal." Had she and Tevir been formal her first bonding? She could barely remember being so caught up in the fires.

Hearing the desire in Cassie's voice, Johnathen nodded. Standing up, he removed the robe that he was wearing. He climbed into Cassie's bed, carefully, and, while propping himself up on his right elbow, he gently ran the fingers of his left hand over her right cheek, then took hold of her neck, just under her right ear, his thumb on her cheek, while his fingers cradled the back of her neck. "I love you Cassie," his voice held pure and honest adoration for the woman lying below him. He lowered his face down to hers and then kissed her, softly at first, but soon, the heat of his desire and passion for her gushed forth.

Cassie kissed him back softly, trying to stubbornly keep her emotions in check. “You have no idea what I feel for you Nath.” She whispered softly stroking her two fingers down his cheek as she stared into his familiar eyes. She couldn’t believe this was happening. “You know I could feel like this for days.” She whispered softly.

Returning Cassie's loving gaze, Johnathen could feel that she was holding something back. He began to gently massage the back of her neck with his fingers, as he responded. "Let it out, my love. You don't have to be afraid. I want to see and experience everything that you can give." He kissed her again, this time, much more passionately. He moved his left hand from her neck and began to gently stimulate the nerve points in her right shoulder.

Cassie looked deeply into Johnathen's eyes, he was so close to her, she wanted to reach out and kiss him again, kiss his neck, his ears, his shoulders, she wanted all of him. She jumped, surprised at the sudden touch on her right shoulder, they hadn't been this close since 2346 where they had spent hours enjoying each others company.

When Cassie jumped, Johnathen immediately stopped what he was doing. "Did I hurt you?!" He studied for many months so that he could be able to give Cassie everything that she needed or wanted.

"No... I hadn't expected." She whispered softly. "When did you learn that?" She whispered softly her mind becoming less and less clear.

Johnathen smiled warmly. It pleased him that he had done well. "I've done some studying over the years. I wanted to be the best I can for you." He lowered his mouth to the left side of her neck, and gently nibbled the spot just below and behind her left ear. As he did that, he continued to stimulate the nerve points on her right shoulder, slowly moving his hand down to the top of her chest.

"But, you didn't know I was ever coming back?" She whispered blinking hard as she tugged him up and kissed him hard. It was one of the last rational thoughts she had, how did he know they would ever be in a situation like this?

Johnathen fell into Cassie's embrace and returned her kiss with equal passion and heat. What she didn't know, was that he never gave up. He was willing to wait for her, for the rest of his life, if necessary. He never pictured being with anyone other than Cassie McAvoy.
