Deacon had been up unable to sleep after visiting with Selina. At first, he aimlessly walked the ship eventually found himself sitting in the control room staring at her chair. Deacon was sure it was just his mind playing tricks, but the chair seemed to still be at the same angle it was when he and Selina had their heart to heart. For an hour he sat there and seethed then he picked up a PADD Selina must have left after they hacked out a duty schedule, there was a lot on it. “To hell with it,” he thought getting up off the chair.
Hours later he found himself outside Jeassaho’s cabin door, it was early yet but time was a commodity he couldn’t squander. He pressed the chime with no results. The schedule had listed Jea as off-duty for the next couple of days, but he couldn’t afford being two engineers down right now. Hell, with what he need to do, he couldn’t even afford to be nice, he just prayed to the cute and fluffy powers he could at least pull off civil. He pressed the chime again and still the door remained shut.
“Jea?” he yelled at the door, “It’s Deacon Kane. Are you in there?” Desperation colored with anger clouded his eyes in that moment. He raised a balled fist hand and hammered the cabin door a couple of times, stopping when he saw the door began to shake.
Getting himself under control he placed his hand on the door, “Jea, I know its early, I know you don’t know me from Adam, but I need you to give me a minute. If you’re in their please open the door.”
Jeassaho moaned as the person lying next to her didn't even stir to get the door. How unusual she thought to herself about the Victory for a moment. She had known the familiarity of it all, and she knew the most important person normally curled up lying across her bed taking up most of the space leaving her with only the smallest amount of the bed, would still be asleep and would be until ten minutes before his Beta Watch on the Bridge. He wouldn’t hear her get up, shower or dressing, the only thing that would wake the man in her bed would be the computer or his comm. Badge not even the banging on the door had stirred him. She slowly climbed out of the bed as she heard the door being pretty much broke down.
She tugged on the first piece of clothing she found and shoved it on before pressing the door release blinking in the bright light of the corridor. "Kane?" She said glancing back into the dark quarters.
Deacon didn't bother following he gaze or even try to cross the threshold, knowing he done more than enough to invade Jeassaho privacy. "Morning Jea, or Engineer Kea or whatever I need to call you so you don't close the door in my face." he said, hoping his eyes conveyed the seriousness he felt, "I need you down engineering ASAP. I know it's a rutting shit thing to ask after what happened yesterday, but the crew's ready to collect scalps and if I were the skipper I'd be giving them a no bag limit."
Deacon sighed, and shook his head, "I shouldn't say that" Deacon said. "Anyway, I get the impression he's going to find Dix and Mike one way or the other. And when he does I think we're going to have to get out of dodge PDQ. Except right now we need to spend a little more than thirty work-hours to get systems back online for that. So I need you to turn around get dressed and meet me in engineering ready to work. Please."
"Jeassaho is fine." The woman said with a few more sleepy blinks before she understood what he was requesting. She glanced back into her quarters again but said nothing in relation to the Captain and no bag limit. "Fine. Get me some coffee and I will meet you in the Control Room in ten minutes." She said stepping back closing the door on him. It took ten minutes for her to arrive in the Control Room still dressing but determined to.
