Talon had finished sterilizing the small spray bottle. It would contain enough of the solution for Dixoho so that it would last her for a month. He poured the solution into the bottle and attached the nasal injector.

Concocting medications had come natural to Talon. He closely observed his grandfather as the old man served the Bajoran camp, where he grew. Since his practice was to mostly outcasts, Talon had to improvise, as his grandfather had to do. This made Talon happy though. He knew for certain what went into his medicines. Other doctors relied too much on providers. Talon learned at an early age to trust very little, until you knew the person with whom you were dealing. Even then, trust only went so far.

He carried the solution to Dixoho's quarters, happy that he was helping. Standing outside her quarters, he rang the chime.

The younger woman inside slowly opened the heavy door with a frustrated grunt.

"Hi?" She wondered stepping back to let him into the space. It was a large space but empty and devoid of anything that stated anyone actually lived there. It seemed to be the complete opposite of Dixoho and her personality.

"Hello Dixie," Talon replied, stepping into the quarters. "You should get that door checked," he added with a smirk.

Joss looked around the sparsely decorated quarters. Of course, with most of the crew, it was to be expected. Most had never accrued much in their lives and were seeking their big break. Even Talon was using antiquated equipment.

"Love what you've done to the place," he teased. Dixoho looked around confused at the room before looking back at him confused.

"Um... Thanks." She breathed looking at him intently.

Talon chuckled at her confusion. He always tried to stay positive and keep things light. If he didn't, some of the stress of being a doctor would send him to an early grave.

"Oh!," Talon remembered he had come here for a purpose. Reaching into his pouched, he pulled out the saline spray he have made for her and held it out to her. "Special delivery. Just two sprays in each nostril while inhaling each morning. It will definitely aid your breathing."

"The door is fine... Just a little old." She added defensively as she moved to sit on the big bed watching him now she was out of her stupor. The only colour among the muted greys and black was her bright hair and the faded blue blanket that she wrapped around herself hiding her bare legs.

He took in her holding the blanket about herself for the first time. Realizing he must have aroused her from resting, he began to backtrack.

"Oops!" Talon apologetically said, "I've come at an in opportune time! I'm sorry for disturbing your rest, Dixie!"

"You didn't need to. I would have come and collected it." She assured softly taking the saline spray from him with a thankful smile.

"Now what kind of doctor would I be," he joked, "if I didn't make house calls?" Dixoho smiled a little and shrugged it didn't matter. She had only been napping.

"It's very kind of you." She looked at the spray confused, no one had ever been nice to her like that apart from Rueben. Normally she had to flirt and toy to get what she wanted.

"Not at all," Talon insisted. "I'm sorry about interrupting your rest. As a doctor, I know how important it is. I'll let you get back to it." Dixoho shook her head and patted the bed.

"It is kind. I was just dozing more than anything, was listing the music." She lent over to grab a very old fashioned looking PaDD that had head phones connected.

"Oh?" Talon responded, suddenly interested. "What type of music are you listening to?" She pulled the headset free and soft music filled the air.

"I'm not sure what it is but it was on this thing when i bartered for it." She admitted blushing a little. It had been one of the only things she had ever purchased that she has classed as a luxury.

Besides medicine, music was his hobby. Talon loved playing to classical melodies and also jazz things up every now and then.

"May I have a listen?" The woman held out the battered PaDD for him to listen to the soft music that had filled the silence in the large space.

"You're kidding, right!" Talon exclaimed. It was a George Benson smooth jazz hit, Breezin. "It's an old Terran jazz song. One of the best." Talon started to tap his toe to the beat.

"I didn't know you enjoyed jazz." he explained. She shrugged a little, she hadn't known it had been jazz. She just enjoyed the beats.

"This is gold, Dixie," he laughed at the irony. "Did you know that jazz originated in a place called Dixie?" Talon chuckled again. The red head burst out laughing before she coughed a little. She shook the feeling away with a shrug, it left a nasty feeling in her head.

"I've never been to earth so I wouldn't know about jazz.

He took her by the arms and started to spin and swing her to the beat. "Maybe someday, I'll play some for the crew. Another morale builder." He laughed, his spirits lifted, even though they weren't low. Music was medicine to the soul as much as the spray was for her body. The Trill squealed as she was pulled close.

"What are you doing?" She whispered as she was span away and then pulled close again.

Talon laughed harder. "It's called dancing, Dixie! Like it?" The woman nodded.

"I've never danced before." She admitted looking up at him innocently.

Talon was so flabbergasted at that remark he stopped dancing. He thought everyone danced. He shook his head as he pronounced a second prescription. "You should dance for approximately twenty minutes a day. As your doctor, that's a prescription."

He began tapping his toe, unable to ignore the beat. "Believe me, it'll do you good!" Dixoho shrugged pulling back letting go of his hand.

"You need to stop giving me prescriptions... Especially ones I can't do alone." She said turning to the PaDD to turn the music off.

The music going off cut the wind from his sails. He sensed something was going on deeper than the surface with Dixie, just as in Sick Bay yesterday.

"You don't need a second to dance, Dixie. Just move and groove." Turning serious, he asked, "What's going on, Dix?"

"Nothing... Nothing at all." She said quickly sitting back on her bed.

"Now Dixie," Talon encouraged, "I know there's something on that brilliant mind of yours underneath all that gorgeous red hair. You want to talk?" The woman shook her head again. She didn't need to talk. It wasn't a talking matter.

"You are not a counsellor Tally. Am I allowed to call you that?" She wondered trying to tease him back to get him to stop wondering about her.

Talon took a seat beside her. He figured the bed served double duty as a couch. He realized he had never asked permission to call her Dixie. Of course, if she were to object, Dixoho would have made it known. Just like when he called her by her last name.

"I would take it as a compliment, Dixie," Talon answered. Even though Talon was his surname, it still meant Dixoho Saa was warming up to him. Maybe she even considered him a friend. Too early to tell yet.

"I know I'm not a counselor, but sometimes one needs more than a counselor. He or she may need a friend," he added. "That's something I hope this crew knows they have with me - a friend." Dixoho looked at him for a split second her facade lifting revealing the innocent vulnerable girl underneath before she pursed her lips and shook her head hiding her face under her hair.

"I don't have friends..." She admitted softly.

"Well you do now!" Talon said with a chuckle. "And I won't take no for an answer. So, if you need anything, let me know; I'll do my best to help."

Talon grew up in a community where people had to rely on each other. If not, you were either captured or dead. It was a part of his nature now, even in his adult life.

"I... Um... Okay." The young Trill said not entirely sure what a friend defined as she had never had anyone she could trust in her life. The closest that she felt to someone was Reessem and that had only happened over the last month.

"Good," Talon replied with a warm smile. He stood as he prepared to get back to sick bay. "The next time I stop by, would you mind if I copy your music files?" The woman rose with him automatically. She nodded, it was the least he could do after his help with her breathing.

"Least i can do." She said quickly heading towards the door to open it for him.

"Great!" Talon responded, reaching out taking one of her hand in both his. "And remember, two sprays, each nostril, while inhaling, each morning." He patted the back of her hand and headed out the door, ready to help the crew however he could. The woman watched him leave confusion written all over her face. Was this what having a friend was like, touching and kind words?
