Mission: Mission 7 - Sabotage
Location: Deck 7 - Corridor
Timeline: MD -06 00:00
1169 words - 2.3 OF Standard Post Measure

It was late, the movie was over. Many of the crew had already skipped down the corridor, most singing their own off-key version of “Follow the Yellow-brick Road” or screaming “Flying Monkeys” at the top of their lungs before running in mock terror, with others chasing them cackling “I’ll get you my little pretty! And you little dog too!!!”

Human are so weird Deacon thought, at least until he felt the slightest pressure of fingers around his own. Looking down at that small hand, he smiled, gently closing his fingers around hers. Then again some are quite exquisite.

Her hand he thought studying each of the graceful digits Which is connected to her wrist, her shoulder, Deacon added, bypassing the rest of the anatomy, stopping briefly a her smile before settling on her sleepy looking eyes, her wonderful eyes. Without thinking he brought Reessem’s hand up to his lips and closing his eyes kissed it. Opening them again he simply said, “Well that was very nice.”

"Better than the film you thought it was?" She teased him with a big grin at the embarrassment that would cause. He was a sweet man and she liked that about him, he was a gentleman. She smiled as she watched to Engineering Wipers basically running around and shook her head, Gregnol would not be happy if he caught them.

Deacon rolled his eyes, feeling his face tinge green, "I liked it." He said "It was not what I was expecting. I can understand why a family would bring a five year old to it," he added holding Rees’ hand as they swayed slowly down the corridor together, "I do have one odd thought, but I think you might smack if I tell you."

"It is an old classic that is for sure nearly three or four hundred years old I think." She said softly as she looked up at him. "What would that be? I won't smack you unless you ask for a smack." The woman teased him seeing the green tinge already on his face.

Deacon breathe in and almost said what he planned on saying, but he thought better of it and decided act very human. Taking Reessem's other hand in his he waltzed her down the empty corridor singing, "When a man's an empty kettle he should be on his mettle, And yet I'm torn apart. Just because I'm presumin' that I could be kind-a-human, If I only had a heart." As he danced with her swinging and prancing with abandon, he couldn't help but become lost to her smile, her eyes. He slowed then, not wanting to rush anything wanting to hold the split second forever

"I'd be tender - I'd be gentle and awful sentimental. Regarding love and art." he sang looking deeply into her eyes, slowly turning with her as their lips met for the second time that night. "I could stay young and chipper and I'd lock it with a zipper, If I only had a heart," he whispered the taste of her lips, her warmth, still on his.

"Knock it off Kane," A voice called down the corridor and Gregnol stood there holding a glass of something Amber with Jeassaho beside him grinning like an idiot. The Secretary looked up and blushed bright red.

"Sir... Jesssaho." She stumbled through stepping back despite how good it felt standing that close.

Deacon coughed, feeling like a wayward child with his hands caught in the cookie jar, "Evening Skipper... I was... I mean we were... just...." he stammered feeling the hole get deeper and deeper beneath his feet. Clapping his hands in hope of dispelling the awkwardness of the moment, he said "So, Yes. Human cinema, Guess the music just made us want to... dance?"

Jeassaho hit the Captain arm and nudge him telling him to move on. "I see." The Captain level a look on the Chief Engineer. The woman was young and was his responsibility to not get her hurt. He knew it would happen eventually but he could make the man feel uncomfortable until then.

"They are just having fun." Jeassaho hissed tugging on the man's hand. "Excuse us... someone if grumpy we just met a scarecrow and robot." She said with a shake of the film thinking everyone had lost their minds tonight.

Deacon felt Reuben's eyes bore into him, like a protective papa father for his only daughter. He did his best to return the gaze with an honest open face. A Rigelian father would understand the look. Rigellian Deacon sighed inwardly, knowing his people's reputation was only slightly better than that of alley cats. Maybe the Captain's look of warning was warranted. So he nodded to Reuben acknowledging his warning, trying to promise in that instant that he would respect his 'adopted daughter.'

Reuben stared a moment longer than he had meant to and earnt a nudge from the small woman next to him who promptly dragged him in the other direction whispering in the harsh language the man sometimes spoke in. "Well that was... um... did you know about them?" Reessem found herself thinking aloud.

As he watched the pair leave, he offered his hand to Reessem. "Any chance I could escort you back to your cabin?" he asked innocently, knowing it would just be taking the woman to her cabin door and no further, "But I get to choose the way back." he added sheepishly.

The woman turned back to the man and grabbed his hand tugging him forward to her. "Long way home?" She wondered making the first move as she kissed him to silence the nerves.

It was a hard passionate kiss, full of intensity and nervous energy that made his heart skip a beat, making him want to run through the corridors with a singularly mad abandon. As their lips parted he looked into her eyes and returned the kiss. This kiss was long, slow and deep. As he shifted his hands to hold her in his arms, he tried to make it the type of kiss whose passion was that of a warm ocean wave caressing two young lovers. A kiss capable of slowing time, making each second last a thousand wonderful years. As their lips parted again he smiled at her and whispered, "The long way home."

Reluctantly he let her go, but the swayed down the corridor arm in arm in silence, just appreciating the closeness of one another for now. Deacon had so many questions. He wanted to get to know Reessem so badly it almost hurt. But for now, he check his enthusiasm, in exchange for this quiet moment, knowing now he'd need to give her the next step in their dance.
