When You Know Something Isn't Right But Don't Know How To Deal

The repairs to the communications console seemed to be going well. Kendra had already gotten a enough power to get the motivators whirring. With a few more connections, they should be able to contact the ship. With the last connection, Kendra pressed the activate switch. Instead of hailing the Ishimura, the console sparked and powered down. Out of frustration, Kendra let out a small curse as she stood. "I need to get some air," she said, looking around the gathered crew. "I'll just stand at the end of the ramp," she added as she made her way toward the end of the shuttle's ramp.

Cassie sighed as she saw the console spark and then Kendra disappear off to get some air. "Maybe we could all use some air?" She offered in a perky voice to the other two offering her hand to Johnathen to help him up.

Johnathen took the offered hand and slowly rose to his feet. While he could normally move through the shuttle easily with his eyes closed, he was cautious now, not knowing what physical damage to the cabin might impede his movement.

After gathering her senses and taking a few deep breaths, Kendra felt better. She took a step or two up the ramp to check on her two companions. "Are you two doing alright?" she asked, trying her best to make her frustrations dissipate into compassion.

"We are coming out to see the pink sky," Cassie confirmed as she gripped Johnathen's hand a little tighter to make sure he didn't get left behind or bump into anything. As soon as the woman saw the sky she stopped and smiled, something that was highly unusual. "It is beautiful."

"It is very beautiful," Kendra echoed. The sky gave everything a bit of a subdued red hue which was a bit unsettling at first but it did have a certain beauty to it. "How is our patient?" she asked, reaching to help stabilize Johnathen.

Johnathen slowly moved forward, careful on how he stepped. "Blind, but alive." He said softly. "Not quite feeling like my normal self, aside from the current vision issues, that is."

Cassie didn't say anything as she just took in the beautiful sky. If she was the type to take pictures or draw or anything that might capture this moment she would have because it was stunning. "I'm sure that your vision will come back soon Johnathen." The woman commented on gently.

"I need to get to work," Kendra snapped as she broke away from the pair of crewmates. She sat back down at her communications console, clearly frustrated with the situation. Taking stock of the console's innards, it appeared as though everything was plugged where it needed to be attached. The problem was the power overload, she had to figure out some way to counterbalance the jump in power from turn on to activity.

The science officer rolled her eyes just a little at the woman. Everyone was acting out of sorts in her opinion but it was most likely the stress and the crash situation. "Do you need my help?" She wondered seeing it was her job to try and repair what she could.

"Do you know how to fix a power surge?" Kendra asked, not necessarily a rude response but she did not go out of her way to be friendly. "We really need to get out of here," she pointed out.

Cassie raised an eyebrow at the woman before she glanced at Johnathen concerned about Kendra before she remembered he couldn't see her. "Of course I do. I am in science. It is part of my training and we often fix them on Gamma shift." The woman pointed out back. Maybe Johnathen was right? Maybe something wasn't right about the planet.

Rubbing her head as though she had a mild headache, Kendra stood beside the open communications console. She pointed into the hole for Cassie to look. "Everything is working as intended until," she powered up the console. Everything seemed to power on until a small cracking noise sounded and the console went black. As she powered the console down, she finished, "That."

The hybrid woman sighed as she took off her uniform jacket and moved forward to try and see what was going on relieved that she had worn trousers that day. "Give it another hour to cool down. It still feels pretty hot to me. It could just be the console temperature controls kicking in. We shall see if it is that before we go down other routes."

"One of these days, I'll be able to repair my own consoles," Kendra replied. Under normal circumstances, she would have smiled and the comment would have clearly been a joke. However, today, it seemed more serious sounding. "What happened to the scouting team, they should have checked back before now."

From outside, Johnathen's voice could be heard, calling to Ka'see and Kendra urgently. "Cas! Kendra! Get out here quick!"
