Eden sucked in a deep breath. It was lovely up here, she could see a fair distance and Ryder was safely below her, not able to reach her without climbing up and she had the phaser in hand, pointed at him. She was safe for the moment and there was no reason for her to come down anytime soon. In fact, she was comfortable, almost giddy about where she was. A beautiful purple planet and comfortable trees, what more could a woman ask for? She wished Sebastian were here though. He wouldn't try to pull her down out of the tree.
Jasper's eyes squinted against the sun as he spotted the woman purchased like a child in a tree. He let a smile cross his face as he walked closer noticing Ryder and then looked back up at the woman, "looks like fun up there."
Eden eyed him suspiciously. "You can come up if you don't try to pull me down or carry me off like he did." She pointed to Ryder with her tongue slightly out like a spoiled child objecting to following the rules of a parent. "I won't go. I like it here."
"She was wandering." Ryder insisted, then pointed up toward her as he leaned against the tree trunk. "And I'm not letting you get up there, she's got my phaser and she's highly volatile. There's something in the air that's affecting her head."
Offerman shook his head and chuckled, "something in the air, like freedom perhaps or the spirit of rebellion?" He had followed his gaze back up to the tree perched woman and smiled, "I think it's great that Eden can be so childlike."
Jasper smiled and tilted his head, "I think I'll stay on the terraferma for now but thanks for now but I miss a good tree climb.
Cassie came out of the shuttle hearing the nose and the request for help and smirked just a little. "What is she doing up there?" The scientist demanded looking amused more than anything. "And why does she have your phaser?" Cassie added.
"Because she is acting unreasonably," Ryder explained, before giving the pair a look. "Next person to ask questions might just get a write up when we get back to the ship. Follow along."
Johnathen blindly reached out towards Ka'see's voice. "Please don't leave me. I still can't see anything." He hated feeling so weak. And on top of it all, he was still confused why he had such a strong desire to be with Ka'see, when not four hours ago, while they were still in orbit of the planet, he wanted nothing to do with her. Clearly, something about this planet was affecting them all.
The woman in question reached back and grabbed the man's arm and held it to keep him close. "Eden?" The woman wondered looking up at the woman unsure.
She looked down from her nest in the tree. "Cassie! Come up, it's really nice up here. Great view and the birds are really friendly."
Cassie smiled a little more and almost thought about climbing up to bring her friend down but stopped herself when she felt Johnathen's hand on her arm. "I better now. How about you come back down here?" Cassie called not able to see any birds.
Eden frowned again. "No, not while he's there." She pointed to Ryder. "I don't like him much, he wouldn't listen to me when I told him I could walk just fine. Tried to throw me over his shoulder and carry me off. I think he might try it again if I came down."
"And you have my phaser, which makes you dangerous while the atmosphere is in the air. Drop down my phaser and I'll give you the distance to get down from there, Bowers." Ryder insisted, looking at the others. "And no one's climbing up either. Not while we don't know how affected anyone is by this atmosphere."
"You go away and I'll give someone else your phaser," Eden remarked, she didn't want him shooting her out of the tree.
"What got you all riled up anyway," Jasper asked of the woman in the tree, " shaded his eyes a little from the light and then chuckled, "I must admit though you do have a good vantage point."
Eden simply pointed to Ryder again but seemed to lose focus. She sighed. "I want to see Sebastian again. What isn't he here with me? He'd like this tree."
Cassie turned her gaze to the people that were all staring at the woman in the tree. "Sebastian? Does she mean the Captain?" The Science Officer wondered with a bit of a grin as some things made sense a little.
"I'm not sure," Jasper said tilting his head.
He looked over at Ryder, "why don't you go and we'll see what we can do about getting the weapon secured." The ops man chuckled, "can't say you'll get it back right away."
"Then I'm not moving anywhere," Ryder responded curtly. "How am I going to know you're not all affected by the gas as well? She sure is, talking about the Captain like that."
Eden seemed to be pouting now, her pleasure in whatever she was seeing suddenly gone as everyone walked around beneath her tree. Why wouldn't everyone just leave her alone?
Johnathan called out to Eden from where he and Cassie were standing. "C'mon, Eden. Please come down. I'd really hate it if you accidentally slipped and fell." He hoped that his calmer approach would finally bring the event to a close.
Cassie rolled her eyes at the woman in the tree. She would happily climb up there but the woman had a phaser and could just as easily stun her as she got close enough. "Eden come on. We all need to talk and discuss stuff." The woman added trying to rational the best she could when she just wanted to giggle at the situation.
Ryder gave the trio an annoyed look. Something about this situation seemed off. "Bowers, you come down and I won't report to the Captain that you're acting up," he called up, finally kicking himself off from the tree, hands in the air. "And I won't lunge at you either. You think I can take these three on all on my lonesome?"
"Captain?" Eden said suddenly very interested in the conversation down below her. "Sebastian, is he here? Can I see him?"
"We will take you to him." Cassie giggled more before she coughed trying to contain the strange giddiness she was feeling. They just had to get the woman down from the tree urgently before she fell or someone went and found another weapon.
Eden slipped gracefully down from her perch an landed with a soft thud, both feet firmly on the ground. But while she kept an eye on most of the man around her she smiled warmly at Cassie and took her hand, ready to follow her off to wherever they would find what she was looking for.
"Leaving the area is not advisable," Kendra pointed out rather coldly. She stood from the ground where she had been quietly watching the ill-advised tree exploration. "We are down a pair of eyes and down communication equipment, the last thing we need is for you two to get injured out there." Realizing the harshness of her tone and the way her companions were acting out of character, she added, "I have a bad feeling about this place. None of us are ourselves."
"I think you're right," Jasper replied thoughtfully, "do you think we should you those horrendous heavy environmental suits?"
From where he was standing, Johnathen responded. "It might be the only way, Jasper. That is, if they weren't damaged in the crash."
Jasper rolled his eyes at the idea thinking of the heavy garments for his time period.
