Alexis lay there in the silence of her bedroom for a long time. They were both fully dressed and the silence was starting to become looming. Alexis didn’t know what to say or do apart from just lie there and think over what she did. Meeri was a beautiful name and a name that spoke of both there heritages. “Are you awake?” She whispered knowing he wasn’t asleep already.

Nathan didn’t say anything. He simply nodded against her neck in response. He could feel the tension in her and he wanted nothing than to fix it but he knew only she could.

The woman didn’t know if he was to tired to talk or not but maybe he would listen. “I’m sorry I don’t know how to let you go but you really are the best thing that has ever happened to me at all the wrong times of my life.” She whispered into the darkness hoping he understood that she loved him. “I was getting better and now I don’t know if I am okay or not but I want to try.”

Nathan completely understood what she meant. He was the exact opposite. His entire life was falling into place every time she came back into his life and jumbled it all up. He loved it almost as much as he loved her. “Alexis Agrax, I am going to tell you this as many times as you need.” He tone was soft and full of care. “I love you. You make my heart skip when you smile. You take all the breath out of my lungs when you rush into dangerous situations or when you wear that slinky black dress.” He smiled against her. “You are the best thing that has ever happened to me. Always.”

Alexis stayed quiet for a long time savouring the frustrated feelings she was experiencing from him that she didn’t know how he felt by now. “Doesn’t always feel like that Nathan.” She told him softly. Sometimes it felt like they were enemies and then the next they were like this just trying to understand the wrong turn they had made.

“That is because you only look at the one negative in the sea of the positive, babe.” He replied softly as he nuzzled again her neck. It wasn’t for any reason other than he savored touching her and the scent of her. “We have our ups and down, and I know that with everything going on that it seems like more downs than up to you.” He paused, “But not to me.”

The woman nodded. She knew for a Betazoid she was pretty negative but it seemed to her that the Deities were unhappy with her, to say the least. “Name one positive thing that has happened today?”

“We agreed we love each other,” Nathan started more than ready to rise to this challenge. “We agreed that we want to have a family together.” He gave little kisses on her neck and shoulder as he spoke. “We found out that our need and draw to each other transcends the multiverse” he whispered as he turned her face and lovingly but gently kissed her.

“You know you can never talk to anyone else ever about that right? You could be a traitor to the Federation if you did,” The woman said softly thinking now she knew why it was a traitorous thing. Who wouldn’t want to cross the universe to bring back a loved one or change there life? It had crossed her mind for a split second until she realised how bad that would be. The woman couldn't deny what he said as it was all true.

“Lex,” he breathed looking down at her beautiful face as she once again focused on the negative. “The only person in the universe, any of them, that want to talk about what is, was, could have been, or will be...if you.” He shook his head slightly. “I don’t want their life. I want ours. I just find it as a sign that no matter what incarnation of us there is, we love each other. That is enough for me.”

The woman nodded as she looked at him and ran her hand up to his side. “I want our life.” She confirmed not sure that now she would want anyone else's life especially with how it had been recently.

“Step one,” Nathan whispered as he laid his head back down and pulled her tighter against him. “I love you, Lexie.”

The woman smiled as she was tugged close again. It was enjoyable to be this close to him and have things pretty open between them. “I love you too.” She breathed thinking what other steps were involved.

Nathan held her. He could practically feel her mind racing. “Babe,” He nuzzled. “I am here if you need to talk or if you just want me to hold you.” He said softly. He nuzzled against her and savored the shared warmth. Reaching behind him slightly her pulled the blanket over them both.

All she wanted was for him to keep holding her, keep feeling him pressed up to his, keep listening to the soft steady sound of his breathing. She said nothing, it was still all too much to process and it made her wonder why the Security Council gave it to her of all officers in Starfleet. Did they hold her that much regard or was this a way to get rid of her when she went mad with the knowledge.

Nathan would have killed at that moment for her to share what she was thinking but somehow he knew the thought was no longer focused on why they couldn’t be together. He wrapped her tightly in his arms feeling all of her pressed against all of him as his desire to sleep grew.

“Sleep well,” Alexis whispered into the semi-darkness of the room as she started to feel heavy enough to drift off to sleep. It would be a lot to look over in the morning so she needed to get some sleep now.
