For a brief moment, Nathan thought he was dreaming. The room smelled of Lexie and he felt, complete. Breathing in deep he stretched slightly as he tried to open his eyes. He was still so tired and so comfortable and didn’t want to move. He nuzzled his nose against her neck. “Are you real?” He asked barely louder than a breath.

Alexis froze for a second as she woke before she relaxed again feeling him so close to her. It was how she wanted to wake every morning even if she was so tired as she was now. “Go back to sleep.” She soothed.

Nathan laughed, a low vibrating laugh making no move to open his eyes or remove his lips from her neck. “Is that a yes?” He asked softly as his hands moved to pull her closer to him, as if that were possible.

“I didn’t hear your question.” Alexis mumbled softly as her arm reached for his hands. “You going to get fur balls with your face buried in my hair.” She loved how close he wanted to be. The only man she left that close in years was Harrington but this felt so much better.

“I was questioning your realness.” He grinned against her. He let out a sigh. Being with her, here like this, was like being home. “I have determined you are.” He teased. “Dreams don’t argue with me. Well, not often.”

The woman smiled a little at his inclination and thoughts that she could pick up. She could admit it then and there but she felt like that too. “Better?” She wondered as she leant back and pinched him lightly.

Nathan pretended to flinch from the light pinch and moved his hand to swat her on the hip slightly. “Brat.” He whispered in her ear before moving up slightly to make it easier once he turned her to kiss her, and kiss her he did. He let out a contented hum. “Good morning.”

“Morning to you too.” She whispered moving her hand to caress his cheek taking in the stubble. “You let me sleep in my clothes.” She murmured nudging where his tee met his neck.

Nathan smiled and turned into her touch. “I didn’t want to press my luck.” He teased. “You weren’t in the best mood to be told what to do last night.” His hand moved down her neck and along her side. “I could be persuaded to help you now?” He teased.

The woman nodded as she tried not to think about what they had discovered about themselves in the other universe. It just made her feel sick to her stomach to know that woman had everything that she could never really have. “I guess I wasn’t really in the best mood for anything last night.” She agreed as she look at him a small smile playing on her lips. “Computer what time is it?” she called.

Nathan paid no attention to what the computer replied as he pressed his lips to her for a moment. Letting out a contented hum as he did so. “Wait?” He said, “What time did she say it was?” He asked as his mind went to the fact that he had yet to break it to Lexie that he had roped her into a double date with his new friend. A friend that it hadn’t sunk into his mind that he was married too in another life.

“Zero four hundred.” The woman murmured against his lips as she tried to work some of her uniform off of herself. It was starting to get too hot for her now and she was the person who enjoyed tropical temperatures in her quarters.

“Oh good.” He replied as he moved to make her attempts easier. If she was going to remove the layers of clothing between them he wasn’t going to stop her. “I still have time to break the news to you.” He grinned as he helped her remove her service jacket, throwing it unceremoniously over the chair.

“News?” The woman asked as she tried to get her belt undone. She paused and looked at him wanting to know what else he wanted to throw in her direction.

“Yeah.” He grinned. “I made a friend on my little spy mission.” He leaned in and gave her a playful kiss. His eyes alight with amusement. His fingers couldn’t help but touch her. “We are having dinner with her and her, uh, boyfriend.” He couldn’t remember what exactly Dixaho had called the man.

“Are we going on a double date?” The woman asked as he fingers brushed her cheek. “We’ve never been on a date like that.” Alexis wasn’t sure if that was what he was implying but it seemed like he was. Did that make them something than what they had been recently?

“I guess you could call it that,” Nathan paused for a moment thinking it over. “D, had called it that, but I just figured it was two set of people having dinner.” He laughed. “I mean, I get along with D really well but not sure about her guy friend.” He chuckled, this was such a weird situation. “She reminds me of Sarah.” he added.

“Why are you not sure?” Alexis whispered thinking they needed to be quiet encase one of the other senior officers heard.

“Of what it is called?” Nathan asked but didn’t give her a chance to answer. “Because yesterday we when I agreed to this, we weren’t speaking.” He kissed her softly. “And I don’t want to push.” He added.

“No about her man.” The woman said nearly distracted by the kiss. His kisses had a way about doing that to her.

Nathan couldn’t help but smirk. “From what D told me,” he started. “Their relationship is more complicated than ours.” He kissed her followed by a few nips and nibbles along her jaw. “She is a cute kid and she loves him, but it is complicated apparently.”

Alexis wasn’t sure that was possible at all but she was getting far too distracted by him to argue. “Ah huh” was all she murmured she could manage as she tried to ignore that he was trying to distract her.
“So, does that mean you acquiesce?” He asked teasing. He knew exactly how distracting she found him, but what she didn’t know was that wasn’t his purpose. He just couldn’t help himself. “Come to dinner with us?”

“Fine I submit but it won’t be for a few days. We have to go to the Seabase first.” The woman reminded as she pushed him onto his back smirking just a little as she curled up a little wiggling to get her trousers off.

“You know,” He started as he watched her. “You could get that uniform off a lot easier if you,” He paused pulling her to him to prevent her movement slightly while he kissed her. “Got out of the bed.” He grinned.

“Fine.” The woman pushed him back again and got out of the bed. She let the trousers fall to the floor with a thud from the belt. “Happy?” She wondered with a smirk as she stood there in just the uniform tee.

Nathan smirked at her standing there. He knew he would never get tired of seeing her like this. Moving to stand up next to her, he kept her under his intense stare. Standing within a breath of where she was he reached out and touched her face. “Very,” he said simply.

“What are doing?” The woman wondered seeing his intense stare. It wasn’t often he looked at her like that.

Nathan’s smirk grew. “I thought you were a telepath.” He teased softly. “What am I thinking, baby?” He asked softly. The amount of love he had for this women was only closely matched by his want for her. He always fought to keep both in check.

The one shook her head and raised an eyebrow at him in the semi darkness. “Those thoughts should be sinful.” The woman commented on as she finally pulled the tee over her head and moved to find something to sleep in.

“Should be,” Nathan replied with a laugh. “But aren’t because,” That was where his thought process failed him. He mind drifted slightly on the philosophical debate of the moral implications of a man being attracted to his mate.

“I love you.” He blurted softly as he too looked for something other than what he was wearing.

The woman paused in what she was doing and turned to look at him. He didn’t say those words often and when he did it left her with a feeling of confusion. The Betazoid slowly walked over to him stopping him mid-motion. “I think… I think I love you too.” The woman breathed.

It hadn’t really dawned on Nathan what he had said until he said it. He was never one to push her and reminding her of the emotions at stake never ended well. Well, obviously, not never. He looked at her reading her face with his limited human ability. When he did finally move he only smiled and kissed her.

The kiss was soft despite the heated gaze he had given her earlier. Sometimes she needed to have a shock to remind her she wasn’t alone. “I think you are fine like that to go back to bed.” She whispered moving back to bed climbing back under the covers.

“I forgot how bossy you are.” He teased with a roll of his eyes. He looked over at her. She looked so tired. “I can go, babe. You need rest.”

“Get in bed.” The woman said without a hint of bossiness as she held up the covers. She wasn’t kicking him out of bed or her quarters at this time. Normally as a proclamation like that she might take things further but with all the work that she had been putting through she was tired and knew he was so right.

Nathan didn’t have to be told twice. Sliding under the opened covers he looped his arm around her and pulled her to him. Nuzzling his nose against her neck breathing her in he closed his eyes and stopped fighting the sleep.
