Like the rest of the seabase, the Seabase's Operations Center was abandoned and without power. It had taken some work, but with a few clicks of his tricorder, Alexander had been able to give the door just enough power to open. The air rushing out of the Operations Center had a musty, recycled smell to it. The command centre itself was dark and showed no signs of life. Alex turned on his hand torchlight and gave the room a once over. "Seems clear," he announced. "The Operations Center should have an EPS relay on that wall, I might be able to get us some power to the consoles at least."
Alexis levelled the man a look as he moved out first instead of letting her go first. "Seems and clear shouldn't be in the same sentence." The woman said as she looked around herself as she moved into the Seabase's Operations Center. The Security Officer looked around unsure. "There should be at least ten crew from the last information that they had received from Starfleet Command. Where are they?" The woman wondered. They had seen no signs of life or to show that there was life for years.
"Most I could get from my spot at the door," Alexander apologized as Alexis passed him in his position just by the door controls. He followed the woman through the door phaser in one hand, tricorder in the other. "Once power is restored to the stations, I can dig around the logs and sensor records.
"It might do us some good to look for any physical signs as well," Gavin commented, tailing behind the duo. "Might not be as readily apparent as we'd like, but clues are clues."
"We can split up across this deck maybe Sir?" Alexis suggested as she looked around the operations centre. It took up the majority of an entire side of the Seabase on Deck 14, with the remaining spaces occupied by Senior Officer Offices, Conference Rooms and similar type spaces according to the map she had displayed on her headset.
Gavin nodded. "An excellent suggestion, but I'll leave the splitting up to you, once we get to that point. I trust we're all trained well enough to be able to hold our own, but I will let you make that judgment call." He looked back toward the gathered crew, gaze nondescript as he did so. "So long as this doesn't turn into a horror movie where we all live out our stereotypes, I'm sure we'll be fine."
Alexis nodded back as she moved across the operations centre. At the far side of the deck, at the outer edge of the station where the bulkhead would traditionally be, a two deck tall observation window was there that would give the usual Operations staff the ability to see into the depths of the world around them but for now, it was just dark outside the window. "Winter?" She called out automatically to Liam. "Fancy exploring?" She wondered wanting to get him on his own to talk about what her Security Officer had seen.
"If that's what you want to call this," he replied tucking a tricorder into his utility belt. His scans had shown a spike in one of the nearby rooms, a certain signature he had been looking for but was hard to track if you didn't know what to look for. The base had been doing some rather 'risqué' experiments for Starfleet Intelligence, under the radar of course but Liam knew of them based on a communique he received before he left the Cosmos. "I suggest we go that way," he said pointing the direction of the signal.
