Having surfed the afternoon away. Eden was tired. She plopped herself down in what seemed like a good spot for sunning and pushed some sand around with her fingers. Hadn't she heard about Humans doing something called a sandcastle competition? Eden briefly wondered how that was done. Obviously one needed to add some wetness to the sand to get it to congeal. She pursed her lips in thought.

Leiddem stretched out on his towel as he watched the woman and how deep in thought she looked. "Penny for your thought?" He offered ironically as he was Betazoid but it sounded funny to him. After the chaos of the morning and the fact, Borden had saved Johnathen he just wanted to chill out.

Having no idea what that meant, after all why would someone use something as antiquated as money in exchange for a thought. Eden spoke, "Do you know how to make a sandcastle? I know the theory but I've never made one before." Eden shrugged her shoulders and just started making one. She got up and put sand in the bucket, added water to what she thought was the right consistency and hoped the others would join in if they were interested.

Mack had been walking the beach, long ago having ditched Mel the first chance he had gotten. To his credit, he had planned on doing absolutely nothing for his entire vacation on the planet. For his current outting, he donned a pair of tan canvas shorts, a canvas hat, and what only be described as the loudly colorful shirt he could have found. He had no idea how hideous he looked as he walked down the beach whistling a tune. He looked up facing the sun as he enjoyed the rays reflecting off of his skin. Looking down the beach he saw two people that he knew from the ship but couldn't place their names.

"Good afternoon," he nodded as he walked up behind them.

"Hi," Eden said. "Feel like helping me with this? I'm returning to my childhood here except I never made one as a kid, we didn't sit around on the beaches of planets, we were out in the forests studying the little creatures."

Leiddem offered a wave from where he was lying down sunning it. "Your buddy left us." The man said wondered if that was why Mack had stumbled along them. He wasn't interested in the sand castle but he would happily judge it if it was needed.

Mack plopped down in the ground, with lack of grace, "sand castles," he stated in more of a question. "It's been a while, but I bet I can muster the skills I've learned from Engineering friends to help build something..." he looked around, "what's the plan?"

"Umm . . . put sand and water together until it sticks and stack things up." Eden sat back on her heels and smiled at him. "Told you guys I'd never done this before. If someone wants to lead then by all means."

"Can't say it was something I ever have done before," Leiddem commented on softly as he shrugged he wasn't changing his plan at all. It wasn't often he got to just enjoy himself in some proper sun in a place that smelt and sounded like the Beaches of Rixx or even like something on Earth. This place was a dream.

Mack continued to sit on the ground as the others talked, he mixed the sand and water. Using whatever resources were available to him; sticks, rocks, and shells he started to build what he hoped looked like a castle. Or, at least as close as possible. His first task was building a solid core, something to stabilize the rest of the build on. From there he would be able to branch out into towers, walls, or even a mote. He wasn't sure, and he didn't really have a plan in his head; he was playing it by ear. "Can't say as I have done this before either, but the general idea is simple. Couple that with a basic understanding it shouldn't be that difficult."

That made Eden giggle. "Oh life is never that simple." She grinned at the others and went back to helping assemble what she hoped might turn into a decent sandcastle.

"If life was simple we wouldn't be there." Leideem pipped up over his beer. If it was simple he would still be in his marine unit instead of doing whatever this was.
