Jeassaho looked at the pair as they were given a job offer and then her husband quickly walked out of his own office. She couldn’t blame the man he had been through a lot but she could blame him for just walking away from it all. “I guess it is down to me to show you both where you are sleeping,” Jeassaho said to Mac and Mellicent knowing Alika would find somewhere as she followed Gregnol out. She knew this ship and could take care of herself. “Any questions?”

“I believe the term is three hots and a cot,” Mel joked, referring the term most used to describe prison. “Care to tell me why the Warden seemed too distracted,” she asked not knowing too much of the ship, or her past.

Mack slapped Mel rather firmly on the shoulder, “what my partner meant to say was thank you, Ma’am, we appreciate your help.”

“Suck up,” Mel muttered, “Alright, let’s go.”

“He seems distracted because he has been in a cell for a week or so. You dragged us from another universe back to our own one.” Jeassaho said bluntly as she looked at the other woman before she smiled at Mack. He seemed a decent type that kept the balance between the pair.

“Well I do apologize if I interrupted his stay,” Mel smirked, “so tell me about this ship, I admit our rescuer didn’t really say much if anything. He only talked about a possible job,” she looked at Mack, “and we are very appreciative for the job.” She gave a mocking grin to Mack.

“Was that so hard,” he replied. He tired to their tour guide, “I do admit getting, broken,” he chose his words carefully, “out of prison and ending on up on a job so fast is a rather interesting twist for us, Mrs. Gregnol.” Mack may have been an odd duck but he definitely was the more respectable one of the two. He at least had manners.

“No, you very much got us out of dodge why he is giving you a job.” Jeassaho commented as she led the way out of the office to a turbo lift. “Engineering or Quarters?” She offered.

“Quarters,” Mel stated, “I know what Engineering looks like.

Once they made the choice Jeassaho let the turbo lift start. She grinned, the woman would have a shock in Engineering but she had offered. “The ships one of the original Constitution Class put through a refit but the previous owner retrofitted a lot of the systems to allow minimal crew. I am Jeassaho Kea. I am one of the Engineers.” She couldn’t remember if she had introduced herself properly.

“Oh good,” Mel nodded, mentally thinking that one of her Engineer was the Captain’s wife. Nothing bad could happen there.

Jeassaho grinned as she felt the woman's’ thoughts.. “Barely anyone knows we are married and one of the reasons why I am not Chief Engineer.” She said hoping that they understood that Reuben was a good man just not feeling himself right now. “We are here.” The woman led them along the corridor to the Chief Engineer quarters.

Mel stepped into space, it was very typical of the Connie class starship but certainly bigger than some of the other living spaces she had been given in the past. Some space were barely bigger than a cardboard box. “This is nice,” she stated. Mel turned around in a circle, “very nice, so where is Mack’s space.”

Jeassaho looked around the space. It was nice and the fact that the Collector had put it back to the original look from the 2240s, Jeassaho was barely concentrating but she looked up as the woman asked about Mack. “You aren’t together?” The woman asked quickly feeling the red rising to her cheeks.

Mel nearly fell over a chair, “me... “ she pointed, “and him…” She laughed, “he’s like my brother, my much older brother.”

Mack sighed, he clearly wasn’t impressed with Mel’s ability to behave. “You don’t have to protest so much, you know we’ve been in worse places. But,” he turned to Jeassaho, “we are not together in that aspect. Merely good friend, despite Mel’s award-winning charm,” he shot a glare at Mel.

“Apologises then Mack.” The woman said warming to the big man. He was a lot easier to like than the woman was. “I will find you some better quarters then she can have these ones as she is Chief Engineer.” The woman said smiling as she pulled out a PADD to check quarters and the like. “How close do you want to be to your good friend?”

“At the moment,” Mack looked at Mel and smiled, “other side of the ship if possible, Mrs. Gregnol.”

“Kea. Or Jeassaho.” The woman assured as she held out a PADD to him. “Far enough away.” The ship had enough quarters that no one needed to share unless they really wanted to.

“Are these solo quarters,” he asked he almost looked like he was getting a little emotional, “I haven’t had my own space in quite some time.”

“There are loads of solo quarters. We don’t have a big enough crew compliment that people have to share.” Jeassaho said with a small smile seeing the emotions on his face.

Mel gagged, “pansy, it’s a room, what more to do you …” Clearly, Mel was displaying classic signs of jealousy. She was the one who always led them, directed their path, and picked their jobs. But this was different, this was being forced on her and if she didn’t find a way to deal with it and fast she knew what her next step was. “Come on Mack, you don’t really want to be that far…”

Mack interrupted Mel, offering an arm, “Care to show me the way, Kea,” he asked? He knew he was being a little harsh but he was enjoying this.

“I like him. I can see why you are good friends.” Jessaho grinned as she took the offered arm and led him back to the Turbolift and down one deck. She opened a door to what could be described as crew quarters. “I know it doesn’t look like much with bunk beds but I am sure you know an Engineer who could turn it into a double bed.” She reminded him with a grin.

“It is wonderful, I had assumed that on a ship like this, well,” he paused, “that we would be hot bunking or something like that. Private quarters wasn’t something I expected, these will do just wonderfully.” Mack paused, “she really is a good person, but she’s been through quite a lot in her life and some of it I still don’t know. She’s rough, and she takes a bit to wear her down. But she’s loyal, to a fault.”

“No no hot bunking here. The ship is big enough.” Jessaho patted him on the shoulder and shook her head. “I am sure I will get under her skin.” The woman was sure that everyone in Engineering would support the woman in becoming less rough and a team player if she so wanted.

Mack was about to say something when the door to his room opened and in stepped Mel. She had that look of a child being forced to attend something by their parents. She positively looked bored out of her mind, but she wasn’t going to admit it. “Ok, ok, I’ll be nice,” she looked at Mack. She looked at the room, “how quaint.”

“You can take her access if you want as well. It is set to automatic at the moment.” Jeassaho said with a grin. It was easy to see that that the woman was worrying about the man and that she didn’t really want him far from her. “You will like our Chief of Security.” Micheal was an acquired taste but Jessaho liked him.

Mack nodded, “once things get settled down, I will seek him out. But you know we better go see Engineering before she has a meltdown.” Mack looked over to Mel. Who clearly wasn’t still not impressed that she wasn’t the center of attention.

“It's a Connie class, seen one you’ve seen it all,” Mel replied, “but let’s take a look just in case.”

“Seen nothing like this one. She was refitted then retro fitted.” Jessaho said with a grin as she led the way back to the turbo lift. She was exhausted but she wasn’t giving up this opportunity at all to show off the ship for the beauty that she was. She might be old and tired from the outside but a lot of the Engineering space was pretty new, The Collector had spent his money on keeping the ship in great shape.

Mel’s interest peaked for a moment and Mack picked up on it. “I think you got her at retro fitted,” he winked.

Mel laughed, “I’ve worked on plenty of ships that were refitted, but I do about those were all Star Fleet and bound by Star Fleet regs, this isn’t Star Fleet. I am mildly curious as to what you all have done with my engines,” she smiled, “lead the way.” Mel watched as their guide led them down a corridor. Mack was waiting on her every word, like some lost puppy dog. Did he not realize she was married to their freakin warden?

“I don’t consider him a warden?” Jeassaho threw over her shoulder catching the thought from the woman and winked. She didn’t do it often only with new crew members. “You don’t have to stay. We can drop you off wherever we decide to go once a few things are fixed.”

Mel sighed, "guess I need to watch my random thoughts," she smiled. She thought back to the conversation with her father and his demand that she get a normal job. "Somehow I think, the warden will have us around for a while..."

Mack interrupted Mel as he jerked a finger over to Mel, "her personal warden punished her, you'll have to forgive her clear lack of respect for our new friends."

"Well thanks, Dad," she hissed back at Mack.

"Well, all have mummy or daddy issues around here." The other woman commented on with a wink to Mack. This was really going to be fun with the pair of them bouncing off each other the way they did. It would bring so much to the ship and the people on it after the events that they had been just through.
