Eden walked into sickbay. She'd showered and changed her clothes but she hadn't bothered to control her hair in any shape or form. Spots on her face itched where that goo, whatever it was had cascaded over her. It hadn't immediately bothered her but after a bit it had started to burn a little. As the doors swooshed open only half heartily Eden noticed the lights were flickering. "You too huh?"
"It's always something," Dr. Byrne added. As he noticed the clear reaction that his new patient was having, he grabbed a medical tricorder off the charging station. As he removed the scanning device, the red light did not blink which indicated that it had not charged overnight. Sighing, he tossed it to the side to charge later and found a working tricorder. "What can I do for you?" he asked, sort of already guessing that it had something to do with her face.
"Uh, I ended up sort of on top of the armory officer. Wait no, he was on top of me this time. I was on top in the turbolift when it malfunctioned. But just about thirty minutes ago Jake was in the cargo bay and the gravitation stabilizer malfunctioned. He was on the ceiling and I threw him a rope so he could pull himself down and then the stabilizer started working again and he grabbed me and we rolled around. And long story shorter, we ended up with this goo all over us from one of the containers. I thought everything was all right at first but then it started to burn."
"This time?" the doctor echoed playfully. "Have a seat and we'll see what you got all over you," he requested motioning toward an open biobed. "Did Jake have a similar reaction to the goo?" Chris asked, assuming that since she came alone that Jake was fine but he had to make sure.
"I don't know, I haven't seen him since it happened. He could come wandering in here any moment or not at all." Eden shrugged. She frowned slightly thinking back to what had happened and the resulting question of asking her out that had resulted. It had really surprised her.
Chris' bet would be that he probably would not see Jake. As she sat, the doctor ran the flashing red tricorder probe over the affected areas. Shaking his head to show that it was nothing serious, the doctor replace the probe back into the tricorder. "It looks like you just have a mild allergic reaction. A simple inoculation of antihistamines and a round of dermal treatments should have you completely recovered in a few minutes." The doctor stepped over to the hypospray inoculation device and began to prep it for treatment. A light replicator noise sounded as the device was prepped.
"Oh, well that's good. At least I won't be spotted for our date. I mean don't get me wrong I like spots, I just like them to be natural like Trills. And obviously since I wasn't born a Trill spots wouldn't look as good on me." That was her theory anyway.
With a shrug, the doctor added, "Especially not red and itchy splotches for spots." He picked up the readied hypospray and gently placed it against Eden's neck. The sound of the air hissing out would have been the only thing either of them noticed. He then placed the device onto the side table before picking up another probe with red flashing lights. He held it just over Eden's reaction sites and watched as the skin healed.
"That should be it," Chris nodded as he gave his handiwork a nice lookover. "If you have any more issues with reactions come back by," he added as he withdrew a small container. He held it out to Eden as he said, "I'd rub this where the splotches used to be for the next day or two."
"Thank you doctor. I really appreciate it. I'm sure it's amazing how far medical science has come since I was born." She slipped off the biobed. "Do you like handmade stuff? Like knitted items?"
"I can only imagine," Chris stated as he thought about just how far technology must have advanced in the last hundred and fifty years. Looking slightly confused, he replied to her question, "You know, I don't think I've ever owned something that wasn't replicated."
"Really? Well I will make you something, that's a terrible way to live." Having decided the conversation was finished Eden wandered out of sickbay and back towards her quarters. She had a date to get ready for after all.
