ON:

Jasper wondered into the mess feeling more than a bit out of sorts. He raked a hand through his hair and glanced around. The idea of leaving behind his home was unsettling even if it was a rusty bucket of bolts. There were a few already there, a few from when the ship was commissioned and he was, "young," well relatively. He walked over to the offerings for the evening meal and helped himself to a few pieces of roasted chicken, some green beans and something he hadn't tried before, a blue lettuce salad. He had heard it came from a planet called Betazed and the people there were telepathic. He shook his head and got a glass of water and utensils before heading over to a table, alone, as he tried to put together how he actually felt about the prospect of leaving the love of his life, the old ship.

Cassie came and sat by him on the table and offered a nod in the form of greeting. She was tired and frustrated, let alone covered in dust from the Grotto. "That looks yummy." She murmured looking around for Eden who had promised to meet her for the evening meal.

"Thanks," Jasper said putting a smile on his face, "how's the work on the Grotto coming?"

Anything to avoid the questions he wanted to ask, at least it seemed to him as he found himself asking a far too obvious question, "they really gave you a dirty job."

"Grotto." The woman said with a shrug. It was dusty and fall of interesting things which made up for it all. "Eden!" Cassie called as she saw the woman. She was relieved that the woman was there, she had to speak to both of them.

Eden started at the outburst of her name. "Everything all right?" She asked concerned by the behavior. "Hello," she said quietly to Jasper then turned her attention back to Cassie.

"Um... yeah sure... " Cassie said toning herself instantly as the woman noticed that she wasn't quite herself. "Jasper is joining us." She said as a way of explaining what was happening instead of going straight into what she had to tell them about Johnathen.

Jasper was his usual unaware self offering Edin a broad smile and a nod and then catching on a bit that something was out of sorts. His brow furrowed as he listened to the two women. It wasn't until Cassie mentioned that Eden was to joint them that he knew anything about the planned meeting. Yet Cassie had sat with him and he wasn't sure if he should move or if she had.

"Okay . . ." Eden replied still unsure about all of this. "What's your astrological sign?" She asked Jasper as if this were a perfectly normal part of the conversation and he should expect such a question.

"Um Leo," the man replied furrowing his brow, "why do you ask?

"Just curious if you can be trusted," Eden said perfectly seriously then she smiled. "Mostly joking, I know astrology isn't scientific but in case you were wondering, I'm a Taurus."

"Pisces," Cassie piped up. She had not been asked but she was going to share. It was a perfect conversation to get herself off of what she wanted to say for a bit.

Eden grinned. "Anyway . . . why have we been summoned?" She turned to Cassie and then looked at Jasper, wondering if he knew. "Not that I mind hanging out with friends, because I don't really have that many. But curiosity eats at me, you should know this. It's how I end up climbing things."

Cassie looked at them and then finally opened and closed her hands trying to find the words to explain what was happening. "Me and Johnathen are divorcing. He does not... well he does not want to be with me." She finally admitted. The man would rather pilot some bounty hunter than build a life with her.

Eden's Jaw dropped open. "Cassie, I'm so sorry." She hugged the woman without further thought, not willing to let her go until Cassie herself pulled away. Eden curiously wondered why she had invited Jasper to this meeting, was she intending to make him her next mate?

Jasper was rather stunned by Casie's news. He had thought that the two made such an amazing pair, evidently, he was wrong. "'I'm...I'm sorry to Cassie." He furrowed his brow trying to fathom what might have caused such a thing, "Johnathen never said a word to me about wanting to do anything other than be on this ship and be with you." The man forgot all about the food and his sulking over what to do about the Jeager they had found, that was so trivial compared to his friend's needs.

"That is why I am telling you. He... I do not know what is going on with him but he has decided to follow Michael again and I am done fighting for our marriage." The woman said with a huge sigh. She had been doing it since before they had ended up in the other universe. Every time they got settled he just ran after Michael. What power did the bounty hunter have over him?

Eden was rarely at a loss for words but she stood there with her mouth open. "What can I do?" She asked simply. She could be a distraction if that was needed, a shoulder to cry on. Whatever the other woman needed, she was willing.

"Get me drunk and carry me home?" The woman said sounding a little lost for a moment. It was at that moment that the woman knew that she had made her choice and there was no going back. She was getting divorced and she would be alone again in the universe.

"Okay . . ." Eden nodded. "Sure. But just maybe you'll find someone when we go out." She looked over at Jasper. "Are you single? Maybe you two should go out together? I know it's not always perfectly easy to find someone but lots of things develop when you get to know each other."

Cassie blinked at the pair before shaking her head. "Maybe you guys were not the best people to go to." She said gently scooting to stand up. She did not see Jasper like that at all.

"Just a suggestion," Eden said quickly. "But might be the wrong one. Let's go out and have fun, that's what you need. Jasper can come too. It will be a girls night except for him but he's not the one we're upset with so it's okay."

"I think Cassie and you should do it," Jasper admitted. He was single and wouldn't deny he was attracted to Vulcan, "you see don't think she intended me to be tagging along." He shook his had and stood himself, "probably better get back to checking on things, there's a lot of work that needs to be done.

"No, I dragged you both here because you are both my friends and I do not have many of them. Please." The woman said grabbing his hand as she grabbed Eden's as well.

"Yes, come with us. You can drink your sorrows away as well . . . if you have any." Eden gladly grasped Cassie's hand.

Jasper chuckled and squeezed the Vulcan's hand, "alright, alright, I'm in." He smiled at both of the women, "how could I possibly refuse."

"You cannot," Cassie said in her usual nonsense tone as she thought about where they could go. The rec room might be an option as they had that singer around but anywhere would be fine to the woman right now. She just wanted to blank stuff out.

"Lead the way Cassie," Jasper said in a cheerful tone, He glanced over at Eden and gave her a big grin, "let's give Cassie the time of her life."
