Zaza was up early and got himself out of the infirmary, he was fed up of the test and was taking matters into his own hands. His shift would not start for about 30 minutes despite him not being expected back yet, and already he was shaved, his hair was semi-plastered down and he had a freshly pressed boiler suit on. This was as gussied up as he ever got nowadays since he had swapped his uniform for civilian street.

He quickly snuck into the cave that was his and grinned as he saw his partner for lack of a better term asleep on the sofa. He crouched by her knowing it would be a surprise. “Wake up sleepy head.” He murmured grinning thinking they needed to make the place more secure.

"Mmmmm." Ona opened an eye and closed it again. She rolled over with a sigh. "What are you doing out?" Ona sat up, looked around confused and then glanced at Zee again. "What time is it?" She brushed her hair back and tried to make it somewhat behave.

"I broke out." He announced glancing around trying to find the chronometer. He was not going to be kept there any longer when he wanted to get back to normal. "About eight hundred." He answered her second burning question.

"I should get moving," she attempted to stand but didn't quite get the momentum going and ended up back on her butt on the sofa. The second time she was on her feet. "Wait a minute, you broke out? They didn't release you? Zee, that's not very smart, what if they don't have all of the toxins out?"

"I signed myself out." He said sitting on the sofa in the usual laid back way he did. She did not know what it was like to be laid up when he really just wanted to be active. It was not how he planned to learn about his unborn child, it was truly bad form for it to happen at that moment. "I am sure that all the toxins are out." He assured flexing his hands as if to prove it.

She narrowed her eyes. "If you say so. You're not allowed to scare me like that again." She pointed a finger at him as if she meant it. "So I take it you're going back to work?" He certainly looked ready for it but Ona kept looking at him as if trying to uncover some hidden tiredness or weakness he didn't want to show her.

"Very much so." He said standing up slower than normal but it did not show on his face that he was exhausted from fighting off a spiders venom. It would be a long day but he was determined to get back to normal and show her that he could be the man for her. "How about you? What do you have planned for the day?"

"I'm going to work as well." She stood up and sighed, brushing all of her hair back with her fingers and securing it with a band so that it hung down her back in a pony tail. "Lots to do if I want to get this engine working."

Zaza got to watch her and enjoyed watching her do something as mundane as put her hair up. "Want me to come to help?" He offered. It was an honest question and the best part about it was he got to spend a little time with her.

Privately Ona thought that was a very good idea, if he started feeling bad again she would be right there. "Sure." She answered with a bit of a grin. "I'll give you the really grimy stuff. Hopefully there won't be any spider surprises."

"Well if there are I will just know that you want to off me and take my measly possessions." He snorted thinking the only thing worthwhile was the betazed nectar and the tools he had brought with him. Not where near worth killing him for at all.

"No way, you're on diaper duty for a while after this baby is born. That's what I'm keeping you around for," Ona joked. "Actually," she said more affectionately. "You are rather handy to have around. You have a good skill set."

"Well, it is nice to be appreciated even if it is for dia-per duty." He said moving in close to her taking both her hands in his own bringing her closer to him if it was possible. He looked tired and worn out but his dark eyes were looking her over intensively. "I missed you." He said his tone just as affectionate.

Ona looked up at him as she was pressed against him. It made her uncomfortable, him looking at her like he was staring into her soul. "Oh yeah? Why?" She decided to ask, though she wasn't sure why.

"Why do you feel uncomfortable?" He asked wondering what the strange emotion from her meant. Had he misread her feelings for him after all? Had this been a sexual relationship all along and the pregnancy was something that was making things now awkward between them.

She shrugged. "I feel like you're looking into my soul or something." His warmth was soothing though. She didn't know how to explain to him that she just didn't open up for everyone, no matter how she felt about them. Zee drove her crazy. He followed her blindly and she leaned on him only to push him away again and they started all over. She couldn't admit to herself that she actually loved him, it was too scary a thought to dwell on long.

The man frowned and stepped back out of reach as if he had been burned. "I see. Well, I am certainly not looking into your soul." He assured as he turned on his heels and moved further into there living space to get some clean clothes and maybe even clean up a little.

Ona didn't understand, she had been honest with him. Wasn't that what he wanted? It had not been easy to admit that to him. "I'm sorry," she said, knowing it probably wouldn't make a difference. All her life no one had really taken the time to get to know her. They had either seen her as an object or they hadn't seen her at all. It was the reason she didn't let people in. Zee had gotten way closer than most.

The man stopped in the doorway at her apology and turned to look at her carefully. "Ona... I have looked into your soul so many times and seen what is there yet I am still here and wanting to be there for you and that baby even if we have to give him or her away to follow your calling." He said pointedly as he continued into the bedroom and the small washing area that had been put in from an old shuttle that had been scrapped.

Ona followed him. "I know you are. It's why I apologized. I don't understand your devotion, and that frustrates you. And I'm not giving her up. She might just have to lay low for a while is all. Somewhere she will be safe. She'll still be ours."

The man frowned but nodded. She was far too sure that the baby was a girl and he would let her have that but she needed to learn that he was devoted to you. "Some worship gods and I worship you." He said with a shrug. It was as simple as that.

Ona shook her head and walked toward him, put her arms around his head and kissed him. The man was a damn fool but she needed him. She was scared with this baby coming along. Ona only hoped she wouldn't hurt him in the end. She did care about him.

"Want to share a shower and save some water?" He wondered pressing his forehead against hers. Maybe they just needed a few moments to reconnect after nearly a week apart after such big announcement then him nearly dying.

She grinned. "Sure. That sounds wonderful." Ona enjoyed the warmth for a moment and then let herself be led away.
