"I never turned my back on her when she was Security," Vriaral assured with a smirk thinking it hilarious that the Executive Officer had a bodyguard that was an Interrogator. "So you don't need my help then?" He said trying to get back to the conversation about him getting into Engineering.

"Vriaral go back to your vessel," Alexis called down the corridor watching as the XO walked away leaving the Chief Engineer stood there staring at Alexis. The woman just stared him down, they were familiar enough to use first names.

"Alexis it is lovely to see you as ever. Not out in the reproduction colonies I see. Who you been sleeping with to get out of that duty." He said passing her but not before he bumped into some else.

"Causing problems for our resident Inquisitor?" Jake growled menacingly. He touched the dagger at his belt, more for effect than anything. "Not that I doubt she can handle you. I just have a reputation to consider. And I haven't had a good fight in a few days."

Vriaral looked back at the moment before rolling his eyes pushing past the Security Officer. "I am never a problem for Inquisitor or Security Officers. Why I am so liked." The Trill muttered as he moved quickly down the corridor.

"Don't he is one of Admiral Kita's favourites despite his breeding," Alexis said quickly. "Not many can claim that or look after his monster of a vessel."

Jake spat on the deck in the wake of the Trill. "Alien filth," he remarked. He eyed Alexis. "What was he really after?"

"He had been sent by the Admiral to gain access to our Engineering to get information," Alexis said without hesitation.

"What sort of information?" Jake growled.

"Do not growl at me Terran," Alexis said turning to look at him better. He looked testy and prickly, almost too easy to set off like a firework. "He did not get anything. The computer would not even allow him into Engineering."

"You didn't answer. He didn't get what he wanted. But what did he want?" Jake retorted.

The woman narrowed her eyes and pushed her hair across her shoulder taking her time in answering. "Information on what actually happened with our friends. They think Gregnol knows more than he does." Alexis stated with a shrug. Wasn't it obvious with the fact two the two ships were still docked together?

"And does he?" Jake's eyes narrowed.

"Of course he does." Alexis laughed quickly before stopping seeing he was not impressed with her games at all today. He was an ally of sorts in a word where yes she could not die but that did not stop anyone attempting to take her to the point of death.

"He does. But not you?" He fixed her with a curious look. If she knew that might make her a loose end as far as Gregnol was concerned. And a possible weakness to be exploited from Jake's perspective.

Alexis raised an eyebrow at his thought process. "You really do struggle to maintain your thoughts. You would have thought with a Betazoid wife you would. Human's you try so hard but Gregnol does the same." She smiled thoughtfully.

"Don't mention my wife," Jake scowled with a momentary glare. "And I am nothing like him."

Alexis wanted to laugh but she was getting close to where he would just knock her on her ass or something just as dramatic. "You are more than you think," Alexis assured glancing up to see Gregnol watching them.

Jake straightened as he clocked the Captain nearby. He puffed out his chest a little, making a little show of it. "I doubt it," he murmured. "Captain Gregnol. Seems the Admiral is meddling, as one would expect. If you do plan to kill him, I'm sure you'll have the backing of the crew here."

"Why would I kill him?" Gregnol wondered. He did not want to be Admiral at that time. Admiral meant more work, more paper work and less being out in the universe with rebels and non-Terran scum.

Jake almost snorted. Maybe Gregnol didn't have the ambition he thought the man had. Or maybe just the stones to admit it in public. Of course, a lack of ambition meant that he was less susceptible. But not much. "Forgive the assumption. Merely anticipating your will, Captain."

"I know when to live and when to die." The Captain said bluntly. It was easy to see that the man was non plused by the suggestion. "Why would I want to give up the opportunities that we have here? If I attempt that and fail you will all be killed." Gregnol laughed. "Or maybe that is your wish? Is that his Alexis?" he turned to look at the woman. Who merely just shrugged.

"My wish is to serve the Empire," Jake retorted, a hint of sarcasm in his voice. "And there are a great many opportunities to be had here, Captain." He left just a hint of a sneer on his face. Opportunities to dispose of butchers aside, Gregnol was wrong if he thought a failed attempt on the Admiral would result in the crew being slaughtered. No, only those loyal to their former commander would be at threat.

Alexis choked back a laugh but grabbed Jake's hand. "If you excuse us, Captain. We have people to interrogate." She soothed grabbing him and quickly walking away before Gregnol could comment or draw the knife he was considering. "Do you really have a death wish."

"Do you?" he retorted, snatching his arm away from her grasp. "Touch me again, and find out."

The woman looked at him and leant out and poked his chest. "Try me. Just because I look like this now, does not mean I did not look like you once upon a time."

"Before the butcher neutered you, you mean?" Jake snorted, making a move to leave. "What - all bark, no bite?"

Alexis grinned as he made a move to towards him. It had been many years since she had considered her own fighting style. It that focused on outmanoeuvring your opponent through utilizing every available weakness in your opponent's defence and body. By manipulating the quick movements of yourself allowing herself to be the dominant force in any encounter. It was why within seconds he was on the floor with Alexis' heel at his throat. "It is true I am a much better lover than a fighter now but you do not forget where you come from."

Snarling up at her from the deck, Jake touched the back of her leg with the unsheathed blade of his dagger. Not yet drawing blood, but a reminder that he could still hurt her if needed. "Is this what gets you off, Inquisitor? You like being the one in control? Or maybe the Butcher likes his trophies to have a little fight in them..."

"Maybe a little bit of both." She murmured pressing just a little more before she pulled back and offered an arm to get him up. "I can be your friend or your enemy. You were sent here to die." She hinted to him waiting for him to choose which route he wanted to take.

"Then I will die as a loyal soldier of the Empire," he snarled. "Not as a pathetic underling to the likes of you!"

"Then next time I will let you die," Alexis said simply turning away. She did not have the patience to deal with a man like him if he just could not see what was in front of his nose. It was pathetic really when she was offering him what he wanted.

Scrambling to his feet, blade still in hand, Jake pondered the thought of sinking it into her back. Too public, he finally thought to himself. Next time she wouldn't get the drop on him. He slid the dagger back into place at his hip. Her time, just like the Butcher's, would come.
