TECH CONFERENCE:: You Are Back

Posted on Fri May 1st, 2020 @ 3:18pm by Commodore Ledeya ‘Ed’ Ehestri (*) & Chief Helmsman Eden Bowers

Mission: Cosmos
Location: Starbase 621, Main Promenade
Timeline: 2396
1884 words - 3.8 OF Standard Post Measure

Ledeya had not been back to Starbase 621 in a month and it looked so much better than the last time she had been there. It made her so proud to know that the Officers, Enlisted and civilians had worked so well to bring the place back from the dead nearly. It would be nice to have this as a base when and if she chose to come back to base frequently, she had built good relationships with the people there. She turned as she felt a presence next to her and turned a little to see a science clad man stood there. “Hello.”

"Hey!" Lake restrained himself from pouncing over and lifting her up off her feet. "You're back." He had to really clamp down on immediately telling her how much he'd missed her. It seemed like an eternity since they were together but he didn't want to embarrass her and he wasn't sure if anyone else knew about them.

"I am back like I promised," Ledeya said turning to look back over the promenade smiling brightly that he had found her in the chaos of so many people coming and going.

"Can I hug you in public or is that not Captainy?" He asked with the biggest grin forming on his face. "God I missed you. You should see all the projects I've done just to keep myself busy."

Ledeya did not care if it was good or bad she found herself snuggling against his side. "What projects?" She wondered thinking on what he could have been doing that kept him so busy.

"My job pretty much consists of looking at stars and solar systems and the one star I wanted to see blinked out for a month. So I had to look at the same old ones again, over and over." Lake was grinning down at her. "Can I make you dinner?"

"I would love dinner but I have all these conferences things going on. This tech conference is a lot busier than I imagined it would be." She admitted smiling at the flirting he was doing. No one had called her a star before and she found it endearing. It might be busy but it was bringing so much man power to the base and expertise.

"How long are you going to be here for? Surely you can spare one night?" He asked hopefully. He hadn't told her yet but he was going to apply for Stellar Cartographer on her ship. He was pretty sure she'd be okay with it. She might have been skiddish in the beginning but he knew her secret and he didn't care, he still loved her. And he wasn't asking for anything other than being a bit closer to her, like on the same ship.

"I have five days here. Six if I am good and do not upset Harrington." Ledeya commented on moving away from him to look properly at him. He looked and smelt the same and it calmed the storm that had been building in her for weeks. It was like something was drawing her there.

"Ah, How would you upset him? You know I've heard he has quite a reputation with the ladies. Should I be worried?" He was joking, he thought Ledeya of all people was probably the last person to cheat on anyone. Besides, they hadn't exactly labeled what they were doing.

"Yes. I am very lucky that I was brought in under his predecessor. There will be no rumours from me. Cheating is not my style." The woman pointed out with a small smile and caress of his hand before pulling back her hand as a group of Officers walked by.

He grinned. "Yeah, I know. So . . . . does that mean? We're an item?" It seemed like a rather stupid question as they'd snuck around all over this station together.

The woman watched the group of scientist walk by with only a nod at them before she looked at Lake. "Maybe." She mused. She had never put a label on something like that before. It had never happened with Ranav.

"Maybe huh?" He was grinning like an idiot. "We pretty much had a makeout session in my lab, and on the turbolift after you met that Bolian fellow. We slept together, twice . . . just sleep but still." Lake shrugged. "I'm going with yes. Mostly because that makes me the happiest man in the universe. I almost feel like skipping."

"Please do not skip. Not very appropriate for a scientist." The woman pointed out thinking on the turbo lift. It made her smile more if it was possible to. "Come on let's get out of here." She did not want this conversation out in the open.

"Yes Ma'am," Lake said, holding back his laugh. As soon as they were inside the lift he turned to her and held out his arms. He didn't want to be the one always stealing kisses and not giving her a choice. "I can't keep it a secret any longer. I put in a transfer to your ship. I hope that's okay?"

Ledeya stepped into his arms as soon as she paused the turbo lift and pulled him down to her height. "Ah, the mysterious new scientist that I received a notification of earlier." She whispered wondering just how much easier it would make them both feel.

He smiled, touching his forehead to hers. "I figured it would be better than me going nuts on a station while wondering what you were up to and if you were okay," he shrugged. "Plus a starship is a better place for a stellar cartographer and I have a good record, I'm not a trouble maker, except trapping you in quarantine." He grinned at that.

"I am always okay. I barely get myself into trouble anymore" She assured quickly as if her saying that would make it any better. His gentle manners with her were so surprising even now. She had never been a man like that before and it made her so unsure of herself and how she had been previously.

"Barely?" He said chuckling. "That makes me feel better. So you're here for the tech conference? Looking forward to that or is it one of those 'duty calls' moments?" He moved his arm up and down her back, tracing her spine with gentle caress.

"I have to get some excitement sometimes." The woman said with a small grin. "I am here for the conference and very much looking forward to it. Gonna be nice to do something like this. I am hoping to find a few presents for people." It was hard shopping for her senior officers sometimes but she wanted to get something for them.

"Aww well, that's nice of you. I'll try to stop in when I can, see what's going on," he shrugged. "Sneak in to see you. Are you going to have quarters on the station? Can I walk you there?"

"I am sure they have lots and lots of science stuff there." She tempted him as she pulled him down to her height and kissed just once before allowing him to stand up properly. "I do have quarters on the base." And she was going to be using them properly this time. "You can." She assured quickly as she toyed with the idea of making out with him the turbolift.

He chuckled, "Are you trying to start something?" He kissed her again, not pulling back this time. What she had said about the tech conference dawned on him and he broke apart laughing. "Science stuff?"

"I am but it seems that science stuff has prevailed over it." Ledeya smiled and stepped back resuming the turbo lift. "Well, it is a tech conference." She reminded him as people stepped into the lift stopping a thread of conversation that could go deeper.

"That's true, I was just amused by your use of the words. Very scientific." He was disappointed she started up the lift again, he hadn't meant to ruin the mood by laughing. He nodded to the couple that got on. "So, anything interesting happen on Cosmos while you were gone, Commodore?"

“A pretty normal border duty,” Ledeya assures. The only thing that had been odd was the shuttle of unknown origin that was still in the shuttle bay that was still being investigated. “Yourself Lieutenant?” She wondered.

"Oh just the usual, nothing too exciting. No discoveries of new galaxies or anything worth mentioning really." It was going to be the longest turbolift ride ever if they had to keep conversation up like this.

“How very boring. Hopefully, the Cosmos will be more exciting.” Ledeya said grinning as the pair in the turbo lift turned to ask him what he did and why he was moving to Cosmos.

"So then I'm accepted?" He asked with a bit of a grin. "Oh Stellar Cartography," he explained to the pair, hoping they got off soon so he could kiss his girlfriend again. So what if it was a secret relationship? "And who needs a stellar cartographer on a station? The weirdest assignment I've ever had."

Ledeya just chuckled as her crew members got to there deck that would lead to the location they had been heading too. “Ensign... crewman,” Ledeya said as a farewell.

"I thought they would never leave!" He scooped her up. "I don't know if I'm going to let you go to this conference, I might have to quarantine you again." Lake kissed her lips and then her neck, his hands exploring a bit.

The woman let out a soft cry of surprise as she was scooped up slightly and they fell into the nearest wall. "We need to get to my quarters before this continues." Ledeya wanted to continue but it was impossible out there in the open like they were.

"True," He tugged down his uniform, pried himself off her and stood next to her instead of facing her. As soon as the lift stopped he let her lead the way but didn't let go of her hand. He really didn't care who saw them together, even if she did.

Ledeya stepped out into the empty corridor and grinned. "You are always accepted." She said only walking a few steps down the corridor to the door where her quarters lay. It was huge inside like a suite but the living area was the only part lit both doors that lead from the main room were pitch black.

When they stepped inside he suddenly felt kind of nervous. "I am huh?" He said grinning and kissing her again. "You know I love you right?"

Ledeya knew that but she was struggling to say it back. It was such an easy word but it was so hard but her when other Betazoids found it so easy. "I know." She said seeing the nerves all over his face.

"Good," Lake practically carried her to the bedroom, assuming she'd stop him with words if that wasn't okay. His hands roamed her body as he gently set her down on the bed. "I'm so glad you're home."
