Mission: Mission 6 - Azzia
Timeline: MD 01 :: 07:00
2160 words - 4.3 OF Standard Post Measure

If Reuben has been on any other ship he would have laughed at being asked to wait for someone to let him into an anomaly but he wasn't testing this planet or species. It was one of the strangest assignments the ship had been given and he did wonder if it was just another way for the universe to try and destroy his ship and crew. He glanced around at the people around him surprised to find the 2246 crew as he referred to them in his head were all at stations with people teaching them. It was a learning curve but they were doing amazingly now if only he could wake up the ones still in a coma.

Sitting at the helm station, next to the pretty red-headed woman, what was her species called again? Tell? No...Trill, Johnathen was watching as she operated the flight controls of the Mary Rose. While the hardware had changed, touch screens instead of knobs, switches and levers, he could see that the general movements hadn't changed that much. He hoped that he would get the chance to practice flying the ship again. When he flew the Ishimura, he could feel her movements through space in his hands. He hoped the same would be found with the Mary Rose.

Micheal was sitting at his station, located on the port side of the bridge. He watched the widescreen with interest as the Mary Rose approached the nebula. This wouldn't be the first time he had entered a nebula, however, each one was different. Thus, care had to be taken each time a starship encountered one.

Valiyi made a point of appearing on the Bridge that morning, excitement bubbling. Not that Rueben was going to be able to stop her, she insisted upon being at the forefront of as many diplomatically-aligned relations with the Azzians as she possibly could. The Azzians were not an unheard of race, but they were so rare simply because they did not travel far, and the prospect of being able to interact with them on their home planet was just too much for her to pass up.

Jasper watched his station falling right back into the groove of his "old" job. He tilted his head and then glanced up, "The anomaly should be visible on the screen."

The woman next to Jasper nodded at the younger man taking the lead. She was giving him the chance after the last month and he seemed to be picking it up fast. There wasn't much different between 2246 and 2395 in the way of Operations it still included internal systems control, communications and sensor system.

"Did they say the Azzians live inside the Walter's Temporal Anomaly, it used to be off limits?"

Jasper tapped a few of the controls and smiled as he glanced at the woman, "Incoming transmission its subspace."

"Play," Reuben commented on smirking at the excitement that was on the bridge.

"Yes Captain," Jasper replied as he opened the channel and allowed the message to come through.

"Greetings to the starships SS Mary Rose. This is Captain Avri'do Ja'vat of the starship Naz'dogi in the service of the Azzian Empire border guard. We have been expecting your arrival and will escort your vessel through the anomaly. We will be near your location in one minute twelve seconds please slow to impulse."

That's good of them Hal thought as he sat at a tactical station, taking it all in. It felt good to be "back in the swing of things" as it were.

Paul tapped away at the science console, "I'll keep an eye on the ship's internal sensors. We have enough problems without something getting a random bubble of time distortions. Be silly to ignore species one two four's failures."

Reuben turned a little and looked at the Science Station. He hadn't even considered that as an option and now that he did he started to wonder about his wisdom in coming here but it was the best job they had, had so far. It also paid them above and beyond and they got shore leave out of it.

"Thanks for that pearl of wisdom Cullars."

Paul nods and smiles, "Don't worry too much about it sir. I'll keep the scans going and if I catch a stray bubble quick enough I can modulate an internal shield burst in that area to smooth it out." He makes an hmm noise as he starts typing, "Space-time apparatus of this age even unstabilised tend to keep most of the danger to their outer surfaces except for the connective membranes, or random...." he trails off and blinks and looks up, "Sorry ignore most of that, Nuxon liked to ramble."

Exactly within the allotted time not far to the front emerge in an odd shimmer from the anomaly just in front of the Rose. It was shaped like a pill, round with the center slightly broader than the sides. A line of blue light lined the thinner edge and just as on federation ships and others port windows were in various places. There was no visible form of propulsion, no protrusions indicating warp drives were present and it moved exceptionally smoothy.

"They're hailing us now Captain," Jasper piped up. he tapped the controls

Johnathen gazed at the alien craft. It was unlike anything he had ever seen. The pilot inside of him suddenly had a craving to get behind the controls of that ship, to see what it could do.

"Amazing," Jasper said in almost a whisper," reminds me of those UFOs people used to claim to see." He drew in a deep breath as he admired the starship, "I wonder how old that ship is?"

"Now that's one pretty ship," Hal replied, in a whisper.

Valiyi had paused in her pacings, looking up to admire the ship as it appeared on the viewscreen. "Their technology must have advanced in a way much different from our own if their vessels look like this. How amiable do you think they would be to a tour of one of their ships, Captain?"

"No idea but I am sure I can raise it with the port agent." It would be an odd conversation but the man was looking forward to having to actually deal with port agents and the likes. It wasn't something he had dealt with before as Federation Officers didn't normally have to deal with people like that. He normally left it all to Reessem but he was starting to feel like he was putting too much on the young woman as she was so amenable to things.

The vessel seemed more majestic, more imposing than he remembered ships looking. Its lines were clean and crisp with an overall design that spoke to elegance and simplicity. It almost seemed as if the danger a vessel such as that one could pose had not been put into its design. as he searched for visible laser turrets and torpedo bays. With the colourful anomaly in the background, Jasper imagined it was like a travel poster or one used for recruiting enlistment into the armed services.

"We're being scanned," Jasper piped up,

Once the man at the ops station had recovered from the unexpected view his eyes returned to his console, "should I answer their hail sir," Jasper questioned louder, "it's a Captain Gov'dali Ve’hassi."

He tapped away on his controls and leaned a little closer to the woman who was next to him, "Ve'hassi, why does that name sound familiar?"

The woman shrugged and looked at the man who she was training to man the station and fix basic operations. Why would she know who this Ve'hassi was? "No idea." She said softly as the Captain ordered that they should answer the hail.

"Captain Gov'dali Ve’hassi... I am Reuben Gregnol of the Civilian Vessel Mary Rose." The Captain said clearly resisting the urge to stand up and pace as he was growing impatient with just waiting.

The screen switched to the interior bridge view of the alien vessel. The bridge didn't appear that much different from that of a Federation vessel though the number of women was significantly higher. Gov'dali stood tall as if at attention though the smile on her face indicated she wasn't quite as serious as it would appear. She wore her long blonde hair pulled back tightly and tied in a bun in the back of her head giving her a rather dignified look. Her uniform as were all the others were a deep midnight blue, almost black on the right side of her tunic like the top was a color stripe about six centimetres thick that ran over her shoulder and down the front to where it ended where the tunic did not far below the waist. Her stripe was a deep burgundy. The upturned collar on her neck showed small pins, two of them, in a crisp row. They resembled an octagon in shape. Around her waist was a wide match belt with a golden buckle in the shape of an octagon with a circle in the middle. though many of the crew chose to wear midnight blue trousers she wore a skirt variant that came to just above her knees.

On her chest was the emblem on the Azzians, a golden Infinity symbol with a single spherical shape in each loop. One sphere on the right was slightly larger than the other. Just below it was a round sapphire blue stone in a gold setting. Others had the same emblem but below it was a number of different colored stones in silver and gold looking settings.

She took a step forward and nodded to the other Captain, "I am Captain Gov'dali Ve'hassi on behalf of the Azzian Empire I would like to welcome you. Are you ready to enter the Anomaly Reuben?"

The Captain was taken back by the casual way she said his first name but nodded. "I guess we are Gov'dali. Lead the way so to speak." He smiled at the woman on the screen before she disappeared again. He was 99% sure that this was the craziest thing he has done Starfleet or Civilian. "Saa make sure you are the one in charge of those controls." The man said lightly to the redhead as she indicated for her apprentice to shift.

Johnathen moved out of the way, as Saa took over the whole helm. Though he was certain that he could fly the Mary Rose just fine, he didn't want to upset the status quo at the moment. For now, he was content to simply sit and watch.

Paul blinked, "It is good to see a group of people that my brain doesn't have a numerical identification for." And goes back to his terminal. He sets up a few alarms to hopefully keep any errant chronotons from surprising him, "I'd love to recall some of Nuxon's knowledge of transwarp."

Reuben raised an eyebrow at the woman sat next to him but said nothing about the Science Officer and the amusing comments he made. He could see why he needed somewhere out of the way that wasn't Starfleet, the man was a walking marvel. "Just take it easy Saa," The Captain said softly as they moved slightly quicker than he knew they had been instructed.

"Sorry got excited." Dixoho called over her shoulder with a wink.

Hal just looke out from his perch at tactical, his eyes locked on the new vessel. "God things have changed." he said to himself, stating the obvious. "Wonder what weapons that things got?"

"Oh leave the girl be," Valiyi whispered, leaning over to Reuben for their own discretion, "This is an exciting opportunity for us all. Besides, the closer we get to landing, the faster we can all finally relax, something I see some of us needing more than others."

The Captain lent forward himself so they were eye to eye and grinned. "Are you telling me I need a holiday because I know I do but there is no one responsible enough to man..." He stopped as a voice from outside of his ship started up again on the comms.

"Please be advised that once we enter the Anomaly you may wish to follow the subspace beacon we are emitting and turn off your visual displays," the Azzian Captain advised, "it can be disconcerting and has caused ships to become lost."

"Subspace beacon," Jasper said quietly furrowing his brow, "there it is." He tapped his console a few times and then pressed a button to send the link to the help, "subspace beacon link sent to helm he said a little louder.
