Mission: Mission 12 - Railway
Location: Unknown Planet
Timeline: 2243
1030 words - 2.1 OF Standard Post Measure

Cassie sat on a garden wall looking at the two men who had just been revealed as not themselves for a moment before she started to look around more. The pair were not going anywhere so it allowed them a moment's calm as they waited for the back up to come down from the ship. No matter how you looked at it the colony was an eerie sight to behold. Lives forgotten, perhaps completely ruined if the two men were anything to go by and there was barely anything to show for it.

There was an awful feeling of hopelessness that even Cassie could not escape from. Even if those who lived here returned too much had been lost already and it would never be the same again. Silence had taken the place of the sound of playing children, talking neighbours and the sounds of a working community. The silence was deafening for a moment before Cassie heard in the distance a shuttle in the atmosphere.

Eden reached for Cassie as she'd said her name twice now and the woman hadn't responded. "Are you all right?"

Cassie looked up surprised by the touch on her arm bringing her back to the there and then. Had she really been that far away? She quickly glanced around everyone was where they were meant to be and the two men were sat together whispering away. “Me? Sure. Just listening for the shuttle and back up.” She admitted hoping it was enough to explain it all.

"It's been a strange day," Sura acknowledged, approaching. She smiled sympathetically at the two young officers. "I don't remember the training manual saying anything about disappearing captains possessed by strange orbs of light."

Cassie nodded. “But let us hold off on saying anything about the Captain until we find him. He might be just fine and like you said he had forgotten something.” Cassie knew the chances were slim but she was willing to give it a try when she heard the approaching sounds of several footsteps and then saw Ensign McIntyre coming towards them with just female security officers.

“Are you all alright?” Kendra asked as she reached the group, her voice carried genuine concern. Everyone, especially Cassie, almost had the appearance of just holding on.

Cassie glanced back at Sura and the two men who were now someone else and shrugged. She was not going to be able to explain this is a way that the communication officer would be able to understand. She did not mean it nastily just that it was barely understood by her. "You can explain. I am going to try and see if I can track the Captain Sir."

"I'm coming with you," Eden said, not caring if she had other responsibilities.

"No," Cassie said with a sighed as she turned to look at the woman wanting to come with her. Cassie wanted a few long moments to herself as thought on the last away mission that had caused her to have a psychotic break thanks to pollen. They might be immune to whatever was happening to the men but it was bringing up memories she just did not like. "You need to stay here and explain what has happened along with keeping the boys in check. I am just going to see if I can get a start on looking. I won't go far, I'll be in earshot if you yell."

Eden wanted to argue, but deflated she took a step back. There might be rumors going around about her and Sebastian, she didn't know, but she wanted to argue that she was his girlfriend and should therefore be helping. Eden didn't think it would do her any good however and so she fell back and let Cassie go. "Good luck!"

Cassie nodded at the woman seeing the cogs whirring behind her eyes, it was easy to see the worry on her face and Cassie wished she could take it away but at the moment until she had eyes on Sebastian there was nothing that could change. She glanced back at the female security officers and saw the woman who had knocked into her on her way to the Cargo bay and nodded at her as well. She was a good choice to bring down to the surface, nothing seemed to rattle her, not even a Vulcan crying on her shoulder. She disappeared down the road that was slowly becoming overgrown with grass.

Ame turned to look at the group that was left and frowned. “What is going on Sirs?” She demanded looking at everyone. She was going to ask the questions if no one else was. They had been left in the dark as to why only women could come down and she really wanted some answers.

"Long story short: Jameson and Morrison are under some sort of mind-control or possession. We think the Captain is in the same position. From what we can see it's only affected the men in the group, which is why I need a team of female officers to help me look for the Captain." Sura looked at her small team. "I appreciate we might be walking into the unknown, so let's keep our eyes open; he could be in serious danger."

Ame raised an eyebrow before she shrugged accepting what was being said. It was no less a mad explanation than anything she had been thinking about on the way to the surface. Everyone was silent for a long while until sounds of movement were distinguishable coming towards them from any of the other sounds around them. "I think I found where the Captain is heading." She announced pulling her hood down, it was starting to get a lot brighter than what she was used to recently.

"Where?" Sura asked, peering over her shoulder as if to make sense of the readings. "Easy now. We don't know what might be waiting for us. Phasers on stun, eyes wide open."

"Well, that is the difficult part..." Cassie started and tapered off before she could go any further and glanced towards where she had seen footprints. They were never going to believe her at all.
