Pushing The Tolerance

Mission: Cosmos
Location: USS Cosmos, Main Sick Bay

Walking to sickbay at the end of Beta shift she was surprised to see the Chief Medical Officer still there instead of the Assistant and who she had an appointment with. She frowned a little but carried on with walking in. It would be awkward but she was the commanding officer and needed to get her prescription looked at one way or another especially with going to a Betazoid colony. “Good evening Commander.” She greeted wishing she was in uniform now instead of gym clothes.

"Captain," Ranav smile, "good to see you."

The physician slightly narrowed his eyes but the smile never left, "weren't you scheduled to see the assistant chief earlier?"

“I was scheduled to see them about now but they are not here and you are Commander,” Ledeya answered said with a shrug. “It is just a medication review due to where we are heading. I want to make sure I have a strong enough dose.” It sounded foolish but being around very few telepaths allowed her a degree of not having to worry about her barriers but heading to a planet full of them might confirm that her abilities were not as masked as they should be.

The half-Bolion nodded, "I think we can take care of that." He pointed towards a biobed and smiled, "let's get your current levels and work from there."

"I should hope so as Chief Medical Officer." Ledeya nodded and moved towards the bed easily climbing on it and laying down. It was nice to just lie down for a few moments. Hopefully, she did not fall asleep and not make it to the gym.

Ranav chuckled, "If I can't you can demote me Captain."

The blue man started the scans from the biobed and pulled up her records on the console, "I hadn't thought much about your sensitivities, but it's good to be proactive." His brow furrowed for a moment and then he nodded, "I'm raising your dosage, just a little, to compensate for our mission Captain, but don't hesitate to tell me if we need to take another look at it."

"You look worried?" Ledeya murmured. They had not been lovers for years before Ledeya moved on for her to not know him and his mannerisms.

The physician became a bit more blue than normal in his complexing and he diverted his eyes for a moment, "I am, probably more than I would normally be if it was anyone else with your condition."

An excessive sigh escaped Ledeya, as if she might unload all the weight on her shoulder via a single exhale. “Why Rav? We have been over this we never work?” Ledeya commented on with a sigh. When it was good it was good but when he got too busy or she got caught up it was painful. They were never going to be able to make it work, it had been on and off too many times. Lakeland had come in and shown her just how good it could be if she let herself rest and stop right everything that came her way.

"Old habits, I guess," the physician offered as he went to get the hypospray he needed, "probably should see about an appointment with the counselor, even a reassignment." He smiled as he came back over towards the Captain, "does it bother you that much I'm concerned about the CO's health that much?"

"It bothers me the way you look at me Rav. We were lovers for a very long time and it did not work. We are too alike in something and a million miles apart in others." She mused softly. "I need to know that you can be professional again? I need a Chief Medical Officer who is not risk adverse in my health."

"I see," Ranav replied as he made sure the dosage was correct, "and you think I wouldn't let you do anything you wanted, seems I've never stood in your way of anything you wanted to do, perhaps that's..." he trailed off and raised the hypospray up and delivered the required dosage, "thank you for being honest with me Captian, I'll try to be more professional from now on."

"Ranav." Ledeya commented on with a roll of her eyes. "You know exactly what I meant. Do not mince or twist my words." She muttered standing up rolling her shoulders as she tested out that she was in fact not hearing anything exactly how she normally did not.

Ranav smiled at his old love and raised an eyebrow, "I know, don't worry, I have every intention on staying, and seeing that counselor, I'm due for one anyway."

"Good." She commented on with a nod. She did not want this feeling between then but it would take time to be back to how it used to be. "Is it working?" She wondered thinking of the hypospray he had just given her.

"I should have begun approximately 23 seconds after the injection," Ranav offered as he walked over to put the hypospray back into its tray, "why do you feel different? Are you hearing things you shouldn't?"

"Maybe?" Ledeya mused not overly knowing herself right then and there. "I will test it and if I have an issue I will come back." She assured thinking of the debrief she had just had with everyone after the incident on the planet surface. They were all safe but the what if bothered her just a little. She did not like the thought that her security chief and her executive officer had been lost for so long.

The physician nodded drew in a deep breath, "Stranger things have happened Captain, hopefully, you're not developing a tolerance to it and I need to up the dosage." He smiled at her again and headed towards his office, "just let me know if you need something then."

Ledeya looked at him and nodded. That was her biggest fear as her life was finally coming together to the point she had a job she loved, a guy who liked her for her even if she did scare him and her senior team seemed brilliant enough that she wanted to keep them for as long as possible. She hated the switching about but if she was developing a tolerance she needed to prepare Christopher for Command.
